Partner News – Bureau Hanse Sail 2nd Haikutter Regatta at Hanse Sail

On June 13, 1970 the Shipbuilding Museum Rostock and the “Traditionsschiff Typ FRIEDEN” (Traditional Ship Type PEACE) opened and this year both are celebrating their 40th anniversary on board the ship.

Partner News – Klaipeda University “Brabander” as SeaSide’s Ambassador

The “Brabander” – a medium-sized gaffeltopsail schooner with a length of 36 metres and a sail area of 440 square metres – was built in Holland at the Driccon & Spenser shipyard in 1977. The rigging of the schooner was done on the Isle of Wight at Ratsey & Lapthorn.

Nowadays, the “Brabander” is a true jewel of maritime history owned by the Klaipeda University and is versatilely used, like a sailing school and training vessel, for practicing traditional sailing, for implementing maritime researches and of course for representing Lithuania.

BalticMuseums 2.0 – Co-operation of Oceanographic Museums in the South Baltic Region

Recently, the EU projects BalticMuseums 2.0 and the SeaSide decided to cooperate in with their marketing activities.

In the BalticMuseums 2.0 project a consortium of six partners from Germany, Poland, Lithuania and Russia jointly develop innovative technical information and communication tools for oceanographic museums. The two universities and four oceanographic museums design and realise a common multi-lingual online platform as well as an online ticketing system. Furthermore a prototype for a multi-media visitor guidance system with special focus on language requirements is developed. Especially international tourists will profit from the project results.
