Michael, Ed.D. 301-766-2800 Superintendent of Schools Washington County Public Schools offers a variety of traditional courses, special programs, and other challenging educational opportunities for every high school student, all of which can be found in the Program of Studies. Beyond the general course descriptions, students will also find graduation requirements, University System of Maryland requirements, and Career Technology Education Completer Program information in the booklet. Students are encouraged to work with school counselors to assist them in selecting courses based on academic interests and strengths. In the back of the booklet there is a sample secondary education plan, which is a great blueprint for your future coursework. Please review it carefully and meet with your high school counselor to establish or update your plan in accordance with your interests and future plans. The courses you choose are important, as each one will impact your high school experience, your options for postsecondary education, and your career path. High school is a great time to explore many academic paths, and I encourage you to choose challenging courses that will prepare you for a future career or to continue your education. The purpose of the draft is to assign amateur baseball players to major league teams. The draft order is determined based on the previous season's standings, with the team possessing the worst record receiving the first pick. Eligible amateur players include graduated high school players who have not attended college, any junior or community college players, and players at four-year colleges and universities three years after first enrolling or after their 21st birthdays (whichever occurs first). From 1966-1986, a January draft was held in addition to the June draft targeting high school players who graduated in the winter, junior college players, and players who had dropped out of four-year colleges and universities. To date, there have been 1,170 Maryland players selected in the First-Year Player Drafts either from a Maryland High School (337), Maryland College (458), Non-Maryland College (357), or a Maryland amateur baseball club (18). The most Maryland selections in a year was in 1970 (38) followed by 1984 (37) and 1983 (36). The first Maryland selection was Jim Spencer from Andover High School with the 11th overall selection in the inaugural 1965 June draft.

    Washington County Voters’ Guide 2020 General Election About this Voters’ Guide This Voters’ Guide is published by the League of Women Voters. The League has a long tradition of publishing the verbatim responses of candidates to questions important to voters. The League offers this Voters’ Guide to assist citizens in their decision-making process as they prepare for participation in the general election. The League of Women Voters does not support or oppose any candidate or political party. All candidates were asked to provide biographical information and to respond to a nonpartisan questionnaire. Candidates running for the same office were asked identical questions. Responses from candidates who will appear on the ballot are printed exactly as submitted to the LWV. We did not edit for content, spelling, or grammar. Presidential candidates’ responses were limited to 750 characters. All other candidates’ responses were limited to 400 characters and any additional material was cut off at that point. If a candidate did not respond by the print deadline, "No response received by deadline" is printed. After the Tour of Williamsport High and Williamsport Elementary work areas, Contractors will be asked if they want to visit the following facilities: Hancock High School, Clear Spring High School, Fairview Outdoor School, Boonsboro Middle School, and Cascade Elementary School. Any Contractors that wish to visit these facilities will be able to follow WCPS staff to them, and look at the work areas. Deadline for Written Questions Submission: May 15, 2020 at 12:00 PM EST Bid Due: May 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM EST Bids will be submitted via email to Scott Bachtell ([email protected]) and Michelle Schultz ([email protected]) in PDF format. A hard copy of all documents with original signatures will be requested after bid opening by WCPS Purchasing Staff, if there is a conflict between the electronic copy and the hard copy the electronic copy will govern.
