PROPOSALS TABLED/WORK DONE  As Coordinator, Fine Arts Club (2013-2014) 1. Successfully conducted workshops on: - Street Art (3D Art) in Golden Jubilee Celebration. (28 March ’13) - Speed Art (15-19 May ’13) - Sand Art (15-19 May ’13) - Wood Carving (15-19 May ’13) - Origami (July ’13) - Charcoal and Pencil Sketching (22 August ’13 and 5 January ’14) - Pastel Sketching and Water color (5 January ’14) 2. Organized a Combined Exhibition of Fine Arts Club and Photography Club during ANTARAGNI’13. 3. Minimal wastage of club material by bringing in only the required amount, economically utilizing them and by ensuring proper maintenance and storage. For example: in preparation of backdrops, only the required amount of paints and brushes were purchased and the brushes were properly cleaned after use. 4. Carrying forward the proposal to include Fine Arts Club performances in Dance Extravaganza. 5. Participated in Fine Arts Events at Mood-Indigo’13 (IIT Bombay Cultural Festival) and won 1st and 2nd position in Fine Arts Marathon event. 6. Participated in Antaragni’13 Fine Arts competitions and secured 2nd position in Modern Art event.

 Initiatives 1. Introduced Fine Arts Summer Projects which included: a. Wall Paintings on interior walls of New SAC. b. Miniature model of New SAC.

KSHITIJ AGARWAL 2. Introduced stage performances for the first time in Fine Arts Club as well as in college community during Orientation ’13 and Fresher’s ’13. Following art forms were introduced: a. Sand Art. (Orientation ’13 , Freshers ’13 and World Suicide Prevention Day ‘13 organized by Counselling Service) b. Speed Art. (Freshers ’13) c. Shadow Art. (Orientation ’13 and The Stage is Yours ’13) 3. Introduced non-conventional mediums for wall paintings in Antaragni ‘13. Newspaper and Rangoli Color were used for wall paintings in Old SAC. 4. Proposal to collaborate Fine Arts Club with Techkriti by making 3D structures for them. 5. Extended support from Fine Arts Club for preparation of stage performances for Impressions’13- 14. 6. Renovation of club room. Interior decoration by painting walls and putting up canvas paintings on the walls. 7. Introduced club T-shirt.

 Other Activities 1. Visits to Sankalp (School for mentally challenged children) for the testing of products made under Svagatagami project. 2. Participated in Robotics competition “Grid Solver” at Techfest’13 (IIT Bombay Technical Festival) and IARC at Techkriti’13

WHAT IS CULTURAL COUNCIL?

It’s a body by the students and for the students. It serves the purpose to provide the campus community platform to help them pursue their hobbies and interests and nurture their knowledge and personality.

Apart from these fundamental duties council also need to look on day by day advancements in all the fields of culture and in order to remain competitive and progressive it needs to follow these set of guidelines-:  Participation  Skill Enhancement  Innovation  Work Load

PARTICIPATION  Advisory Committee - It will include ex-coordinators of all clubs. Their role will be to discuss and keep a check on all club affairs. - It will comprise of Cultural Secretary of each hall whose responsibility will be to ensure smooth conduction of various hall level events in harmony with cultural council.  Board Members It will have following structure: - Club Coordinators: Their responsibility will be to manage all the club activities. Bring in and implement revolutionary and innovative ideas. - PG mentors: They will be equivalent to club coordinators and will represent students under Post Graduate program. - Enthusiastic and skilled students in Post Graduate program and senior UG students. They will support club coordinators in organizing various workshops and preparing students for different competitions.  Club Secretaries - Includes PG students and UG students. They will be given a position of responsibility on the basis of their Management Skill and Artistic Skills. Proposal to recognize this as a formal post.  Talent hunt - Council will support HEC of respective halls to conduct a talent hunt in their halls with a motive to bring forth talented students and motivate them to participate in various clubs. Board members related to each club will interact with the participants and spread awareness among them.

KSHITIJ AGARWAL  Hall Level Workshops - Each club according to its convenience will organize hall level workshops both in UG and PG halls and will motivate them to interact with other club members. This will help all to learn from each other and interact.

 Cultural Council Presentation / Performance in PG orientation - A formal presentation / performance will be given by all club coordinators introducing their club to the freshers instead of only presentation by General Secretary, Cultural Council.

SKILL ENHANCEMENT  PG’s Participation  Summer and Winter workshops (Advanced level)  Participation in different college festivals  Galaxy preparation INNOVATION - Platforms:  Summers and winters: More emphasis can be given on experimenting and learning new skills. Newly learnt skills can also be easily implemented on big scale projects/ performances.  Galaxy and Antaragni: More focus to be given on quality rather than quantity. Apt number of events to be kept so that a better quality of output comes out with an innovative touch. - Concept of Originality: More on-the-spot events to be encouraged. WORK LOAD  All the documents processing related to purchase, organization of an event, budget approval etc will be centralized.  Appointing a head (preferably two) for jobs like purchasing, verification, tickets booking, club T- Shirt printing etc.

ECO FRIENDLY INITIATIVES  To use products of galaxy and hall day for beautification in various festive occasions.  All the posters and written information related to cultural clubs will be printed on RECYCLED papers preferably and used posters will also be recycled.  To beautify the academic area and other places of IIT Kanpur by putting up artworks and photographs in collaboration with Films and Media council.

OTHER INITIATIVES  All the Original literature, art work, drams script to be given to the publishers (outside the Campus) for publishing in Newspapers, Magazines and Books (to be done after taking consent of the authors).  Inter-Club activities to be promoted by increasing collaboration among each other - Fine Arts and Dance can be combined by activities like Dance Painting. - Literary groups can independently write scripts which can be performed upon by Dramatics club. - Fashion hobby group can design costumes for Dance and Dramatics

KSHITIJ AGARWAL - Music Club’s album cover can be designed by fine arts and design cell. Album to be compiled using song recordings from their performances in events like ME, Galaxy, Freshers etc.  New hobby group for MUN’s to be formed.  Two Executives for Media and Publicity will be appointed rather than the current structure with one executive. Their role will be to regularly update the club page along with proper coverage of various cultural events by different clubs and hobby croups.  To use SMS as secondary medium of communication to send last minute reminders to the participants.

CLUB SPECIFIC  Dance - Will focus more on availability of consumable materials related to safety Requirements (like Knee pads, Leg warmers, Arm warmers etc) and Props and Costumes. - Props for Bhangra group to be made available - New fields like Tap Dancing and Tribal Dance forms (for example, Santhal from West Bengal) could be explored.  Dramatics - Stand-up Comedy acts to be performed more frequently and if possible will try to have a separate show for it. - Off-Campus stage shows will be promoted with a motive to bridge gap between organizers and dramatics artists. - Consumable Props and Costumes to be made easily available.  Fine Arts - Technical art forms like Rubik’s cube art, LED paintings to be touched upon. - Work with Design department in small projects. - Discussion on Art works around the globe. - Further development in Stage performances like Speed art, Sand art etc.  Literary Activities - English Parliamentary debate workshop to be held by debating societies like IIT Delhi, RML - Will assign a proper time slot for LITFEST for next year. - English literary society will be having Radio Shows. - More Advanced workshop on Classical Hindi Writing to be organized. - Availability for Buzzers for various literary events.  Music - Electronic/Virtual Instruments (Music Apps) workshop to be organized for general population. - Exploring new musical medium / instruments. For example: empty containers can be used as drum. - Theme based Musical Extravaganzas  Quizzing - Online Quizzing Platform to be developed for both the beginners and Professionals. - Placement Quizzes questions section can be made on Online Platform - Different level for quizzes can be adopted for better participation.
