Research Projects

Anode material for Li-ion battery [May’18- Guide: Dr. M. V. Shelke, Physical and Material Chemistry division, CSIR - National Chemical Laboratory July’18]

• Synthesized NiO/NiFe2O4 nanostructure embedded in conducting carbon matrix as anode material • Interpreted material characterization data from techniques such as XRD, TEM and Impedance Spectroscopy performed at centralized facility • Fabricated half cells using as-prepared anode material and conducted electrochemical tests including Cyclic Voltammetry, Rate Capability Analysis and Galvanostatic Charge-Discharge Transparent oxide semiconductors for Thin Film Transistors [Nov’17- Guide: Dr. Dipti Gupta, Metallurgy and Material Science Department, IIT Bombay Feb’18]

• Prepared amorphous Zn2SnO4 (a-ZTO) using germane precursors and used their reaction combustion energy to reduce the supply temperature of solution by significant amount • Performed structural (XRD) and optical characterization (UV-Visible spectroscopy) on the thin film • Fabricated Thin Film Transistors p++Si/SiO2(300 nm)/ZTO/Al via spin coating • Observed the behavior of prepared transistors as controlled switches via probing

Course Projects

Double slider-crank and gear train mechanism [Spring’ Guide: Dr. P.S. Gandhi, Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bombay 18]

• Designed and developed a self engineered mechanism using gear trains, sliders, cranks etc. by applying workshop skills, highlighting its advantages and disadvantages over established mechanisms • Performed kinematic analysis of the prototype and estimated for higher hypothetical scales Molecular dynamic simulation [Spring’ Guide: Dr. Aparna Singh, Metallurgy and Material Science Department, IIT Bombay 18]

• Completed a rigorous literature study of recent advancements in molecular dynamic simulation • Compared tensile properties of Gold nanowire obtained via simulation with the properties of gold obtained at macroscopic scale by tensile loading test Case study of Material Failure in Apollo 13 space mission [Spring’ Guide: Dr. Dipti Gupta, Metallurgy and Material Science Department, IIT Bombay 17]

• Analysed data from NASA’s research based on the failure of Apollo 13 space mission in a team of 4 and reported various flaws involved in insulations, oxygen cylinders and thermal switches causing the failure
