Please prepare 32 bars of a song and have a contrasting selection ready if asked. Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided. Be prepared to dance if asked. Sides will also be provided at the audition and will be available on the website at www.theatrezone-florida.com. Visually impaired performers may request an advance copy of the sides when making an audition appointment.

THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD – Book, Music and lyrics by Rupert Holmes.

1st rehearsal: December 31, 2018. Runs January 10 – 12 and 17 – 19 at 8:00, January 12, 13, 19 and 20 at 2:00 and January 13 & 20 at 7:30, 2019. Eight Equity actor contracts available, six Non- AEA contracts.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood - In the small town of Chesterham, England, the young and charming Edwin Drood has been mysteriously murdered. But by whom? His leering, romantic rival, John Jasper? His lovely and seemingly innocent fiancé, Rosa Bud? The infamous purveyor of opium and vice, Princess Puﬀer? Or was it someone else even more dastardly and villainous? Rupert Holmes’ Tony award-winning musical solves this predicament by asking the audience to choose which character is the killer. The giddy playfulness of this play-within-a-play musical draws the audience toward a most unusual and hilarious ﬁnale.

Chairman/Mayor Sapsea: 45 - 65. The leader of the music hall troupe. The Chairperson carries the majority of the dialogue and must be quick with a joke and able to improvise. He is in charge of keeping the pace of the show moving. Standard British Accent. Baritone (D#3 - F#4 - can pop octaves if needed).

John Jasper: 35 - 55. – The Royale's male lead, a devilishly attractive cad, and he knows it. He is the antagonist. Choirmaster of Cloisterham Cathedral, and uncle of Edwin Drood. In love with Rosa Bud. Madness lurks beneath his smooth exterior. Standard British Accent. Bari-tenor (A2 - A4).

Edwin Drood: 25 - 45. Prima donna and London's leading male impersonator, charming but, as you might expect, with determination and a lot of ego. Must command the stage. As Edwin Drood, she is an attractive, rich, and popular young man who has everything. Standard British Accent. Mezzo (B3 - E5).

Rosa Bud: 19 - 30. The not-so-innocent ingénue of the Music Hall Royale, She portrays the love interest of Drood, a young, beautiful and apparently fragile young lady. Standard British Accent. True soprano (A3 - B5), with a high B natural that can't be avoided.

Helena Landless: 25 – 55. Is a long-standing member of the acting troupe, asked to play the mysterious Helena Landless who hails from a mysterious foreign colony not unlike India. Brit attempting an Indian Accent. Mezzo (G3 - D5 [optional E5]).

Neville Landless: 25 - 55. Is enjoying his premier performance with the Music Hall Royale. His character, Neville, is Helena's twin brother. Very passionate and often angry. Brit attempting an Indian Accent. Bari-tenor (C3 - G4), strong harmony singer.

Reverend Crisparkle: 50 - 69. This troupe member is a bit of an open book who plays an archetypal vicar, who is also a bit of a lurker, and was in love with Rosa's mother. Must be significantly older than Rosa. Standard British Accent. Baritone (C3 - G4), strong Harmony singer.

Princess Puffer: 45 - 69. Has been a favorite of London audiences forever, a staple of the stage. As the mysterious Princess Puffer, Madam, opium dealer and general purveyor of vice of all kinds, she is glamorous in her ruin. Standard Brittish Accent. Serious low alto (F3 - D5) - must have a big chest voice and lots of rapport with the audience.

Durdles: 35 - 69. “Clown Prince of the Royale" who makes the most of every line and plays the drunkard sexton in Drood. Strong slapstick comedian. Cockney Accent. Baritone or Tenor (B2 - F4) - ensemble singer.

Bazzard: 21 - 60. Devotee of the theatre, the everlasting understudy, who finally gets his moment. May have quite a major part if the evening turns out that way. Standard British Accent. Bari-tenor (A2 - Eb4 [opt G4 or Bb4]).

Cricker: 17 - 25. Durdles Jr. Deputy (squire). As the Jr. Deputy, he is the lowest in the pecking order, and very funny. Cockney Accent. Any voice range--ensemble singer.

Throttle/Stage Manager: 25 - 40. Is the Stage Manager of the music hall troupe who helps to keep the Chairperson on track throughout the play. Standard British Accent. Any voice range--ensemble singer.

Flo: 21 - 45. An energetic everywoman with great comic timing- she is wardrobe and props mistress and ersatz stage manager. Standard British Accent. Vocal range can vary though a capable soprano for group numbers would be preferred.

Ensemble Woman: 25 - 45. Sing & Must dance well. Standard British accent. Vocal range can vary though a capable soprano for group numbers would be preferred.

ELTON JOHN & TIM RICE’S AIDA – Book by Linda Woolverton and Robert Falls and David Henry Hwang, Lyrics by Tim Rice, Music by Elton John.

Aida - An enslaved Nubian princess, Aida, finds her heart entangled with Radames, an Egyptian soldier who is betrothed to the Pharaoh's daughter, Amneris. As their forbidden love blossoms, Aida is forced to weigh her heart against the responsibility that she faces as the leader of her people. Aida and Radames' love for one another becomes a shining example of true devotion that ultimately transcends the vast cultural differences between their warring nations, heralding a time of unprecedented peace and prosperity.

Amneris: 19 – 35. A beautiful and materialistic Egyptian Princess who is the betrothed of Captain Radames. A bit of an “airhead”. Daughter of the Pharaoh. Pop belt, F5 - E3.

Radames: 21 - 35. An Egyptian Captain and the son of Zoser. A strong, handsome, adventurous soldier who falls in love with Aida. Pop/rock tenor G5-B3.

Aida: 19 - 35. - A beautiful, brave Nubian Princess who is loyal to her people but is torn between her heritage and love for an Egyptian Captain. Daughter of King Amonasro. African American. Pop belt, F5-F3.

Mereb: 19 - 35. A Nubian slave and servant to Radames. He is faithful to his Nubian heritage and befriends Aida upon her arrival to Egypt. African American. Pop/rock. Bb5-G3.

Zoser: 45 - 60. The manipulative and evil Chief Minister hungry for power. He attempts to poison the Pharaoh and is father to Radames. Pop/rock tenor. Ab5-F4.

Pharoah: 45 - 55. The Leader of Egypt and father to Amneris. A distinguished gentleman. Pop/rock ensemble singer.

Nehebka: 19 - 35. A Nubian slave who is friendly with Aida. She creates a robe for the Nubian Princess. African American. Pop belt. E5-A3.

Amonasro: 40 - 60. An honorable and peaceful man who is imprisoned by Egypt. The King of Nubia and father to Aida. African American. Pop/rock ensemble singer.

Ensemble Men & Women who double in various roles: 20 - 45. Pop Singing, must dance well, all ethnicities are a plus.

On A Clear Day You Can See Forever – Daisy Gamble has some unusual powers like hearing phones before they ring and making flowers grow just by talking to them. However, she thinks she’s just a normal person. In fact her primary concern is trying to quit smoking in order to please her fiancé. To accomplish this she seeks the help of a hypnotist, Mark Bruckner. During their sessions, Mark discovers that she can regress into past lives and different personalities. Mark ends up falling in love with one of Daisy’s personalities, “Melinda.” In the end Daisy realizes how special she really is.

Daisy Gamble/Melinda: 30 - 45. Daisy is a very quirky, energetic and free spirited woman with a lot of spunk. When in her past life persona, Melinda, she is a sophisticated 18th century British woman. Standard British accent. Versatile actress. Mezzo.

Dr. Mark Bruckner: A respected New York psychiatrist, fascinated by ESP, hypnosis, and the possibility of past lives. Lyric baritone.

Edward Moncrief: 30 - 45. An 18th century portrait painter; a handsome womanizer; an unapologetic rogue. Standard British accent. Legit tenor.

Warren Smith: 30 - 45. Warren is the fiancée of Daisy; Only concerned for himself and his career. Could also play Hubert Insdale, Jr., a young British nobleman of the 18th century, so would need to do a British accent. Tenor or Baritone. Strong dancer, Tap a plus.

Dr. Conrad Fuller: 40 - 60. A respected older Psychiatrist in the same practice as Dr. Bruckner. could also play Hubert Insdale, Jr., a British nobleman of the 18th century, so would need to do a British accent. Tenor or Baritone.

Mrs. Hatch: 35 – 55. Mrs. Hatch is the secretary to Dr. Bruckner and Dr. Fuller. Dancer. Could also play British lady of the 18th century, so would need to do a British accent. Mezzo or Soprano.

Muriel: 35 – 45. A friend of Daisy Gambles'; young professional woman in NY. She is always worrying. Could also play British lady of the 18th century, so would need to do a British accent. Tap Dancer. Mezzo or Soprano.

Filled with humor, romance, drama and non stop melody, this non stop hit-parade features unforgettable gems from Cabaret to Chicago interwoven into a passionate, harmonious, up-tempo evening of musical theatre.

Woman 1: 20 – 50. Tough and strong. Impassioned. She has been hurt. A bit of a lush and snob. Clumsy. Hopeful. Broadway belt. A5-E3.

Woman 2: 20 - 50. Independent. Zany. Bawdy and brassy, but also reflective and poised. She is seductive. Broadway belt. G5-F3

Woman 3: 20-50. Nostalgic. Adventurous. Hopeful. A lush and snob. Confident and sexy, but hesitant in regards to love. Broadway belt. F5-F3.

Man 1: 20-50. A bit of a ham. At times he is lonely, dejected, and shy. Just as easily emboldened to action. Sincere, loving, and charming. Baritone/Tenor. Dancer. G5-A4.

1st rehearsal: October 1, 2018. Runs October 11 – 13 at 8:00, October 13 & 14 at 2:00, 2018. Four Equity Contracts available in this production. This is a combined production with Florida Gulf Coast University’s Bower School of Music and the Arts and will be performed at the FGCU TheaterLab. Four Equity actor contracts available.

URINETOWN - is a hilarious musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, municipal politics and musical theatre itself! Hilariously funny and touchingly honest, Urinetown provides a fresh perspective on one of America's greatest art forms. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he's had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom!

Officer Lockstock: 35 – 50. – CAST. Narrator of the show and leader of the Police. A figure of authority. A key role. He is a symbol of police brutality and suppression by means of force. Strong acting ability and excellent comic timing are required. Some dance skills required. Bass/ Baritone.

Bobby Strong: 20 – 30. – CAST. The “Hero” of the show and the assistant-custodian at the poorest urinal in town – Amenity #9. Bobby is the leader of the poor through the rebellion and is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in. Falls in love with Hope. He is a college drop-out and pseudo- anarchist. Strong acting - singing ability and good comic timing. Medium dance skills required. Tenor.

Caldwell B Cladwell: 45 – 65. CAST. CEO of Urine Good Company (UGC). He is an unscrupulous capitalist and the main antagonist. He uses his employees and police force for his personal bidding. Strong acting - singing ability and good comic timing. Minimal dance required. Baritone.

Male Ensemble: - 25 - 60. CAST. Plays various small parts. Strong singer and dancer.
