A Letter From The President Welcome to Schenectady Light Opera Company and the fourth show of our 2017-2018 season, Curtains! I would like to take this time to thank all the volunteers who made this production possible and to commend them on all the hard work and dedication that they have given to this project. SLOG continues to grow and thrive because of our wonderful volunteers. As we begin to wrap up our season with our final show.^/^/er.dd in May, we look forward to the future and the exciting things we will sec next year. Though you might have heard some rumors, we always announce our season to our members first. Just one of the many perks of becoming a member with us. If you arc a volunteer, performer, long time audience member or friend of the arts, we want you to join our company. Please consider signing up to be a member, information is located on our website. Our 92'"' season will be filled with some big names, hidden gems and shows that have not been produced locally in some time. We are excited to welcome some new directors, as well as seasoned contributors who have made SLOG their home. We will kick off the yeai' in September with hi the Heights, a wildly popular show that put Lin-Manuel Miranda (famed composer of the Broadway mega hit Homilton) on the map. Our youth show in November, which attracts top talent from many local high schools, will be the always popular (T'rea.se. In January, we will cxi)lore a lesser known piece set in the roaring 192()'s, The Wild Party. In March, America's founding fathers will b(( portrayed on our stage as they sing and act out the events surrounding the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Glosing out the season will be the toe-tapping, fast-paced classic musical 42'"' Street. We're not quite ready to start selling season subscriptions yet, but keep an eye on our website, social media and your mailbox for those details coming soon. While we are looking toward the future, we still have a lot to offer you this season. Sister Act will be on stage May 4"'-I3"'. Following that, join us for our June Gabaret Fundraiser, Someday at SLOG, featuring songs from shows that we have never done but hope to down the road. This fundraiser will feature some of your favorite SLOG performers as well as showcase many Broadway musicals not done locally. The dates of this fundraiser will be June 15"' & 16"' and all proceeds will go to our "Raise the Roof" campaign. Tickets are on sale now! Thank you for coming to Schenectady Light Opera Company and supporting our mission to provide opportunities for adults and youth to experience and i)articipate in the performing arts. We hope you will join us as we continue to produce quality theater! Thank you and enjoy the Show! It is an escape from reality, a chance to smile, relax, and get lost in a fun story. 1 want to take this opportunity to thank the people who were by my side throughout this process, who reminded me why I love this show, and why I love theater at SLOC.
