By 1937 regular service commenced using Short’s Empire seaplanes where the “landing strip” was a stretch of water with the passenger terminal located nearby on dry land. With the new US$ 100 million terminal inaugurated in 1994, Bahrain International Airport moved to an expanded handling capacity of 9 million passengers a year. The airport continues its successful journey of success and growth, and is today well on its way to becoming one of finest airports in the world. cover6Bahrain International Airport Strategic Location Bahrain is uniquely located at the heart of the Gulf.
