Setiap sejarawan tentu memiliki cara yang berbeda dalam proses penarasiannya. Narasi sejarah tersebut melahirkan berbagai pengertian tentang perantau Bugis. Salah satu pengertian yang sering dilekatkan oleh para sejarawan terhadap perantau Bugis adalah lekat dengan kehidupan bahari. Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana sejarawan menghadirkan perantau Bugis dalam narasi sejarahnya. Penelitian ini memakai model penelitian narasi sejarah yang dikembangkan oleh Hayden White. Ada tiga konsep Hayden White yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini, yaitu konsep Representasi, individu dan Moral. Konsep-konsep tersebut digunakan sebagai perangkat teoretis untuk menganalisa empat teks sejarah tentang perantau Bugis yang telah dipilih. Hasil analisa tersebut sekaligus menjadi kritik historiografi. Melalui penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa setiap sejarawan memiliki identifikasi yang berbeda tentang perantau Bugis dalam setiap narasinya. Orang Bugis di Johor diidentifikasi lekat dengan kekuasaan oleh Kesuma. Orang Bugis di Bali diidentikkan dengan perdagangan oleh Suwitha. Orang Bugis di Kamal Muara lekat dengan Nelayan menurut Said dan Prabowo. Terakhir orang Bugis di Ambon diidentikkan dengan Islam oleh Sholeh. Setiap sejarawan memiliki posisi yang berbeda dalam menarasikan perantau Bugis. Kecenderungan kesimpulan mereka tidak lepas dari latar belakang mereka masing-masing. Kata kunci: Perantau Bugis, Narasi sejarah, Hayden White, Kritik Historiografi. vii PLAGIAT MERUPAKAN TINDAKAN TIDAK TERPUJI BUGINESE MIGRANTS IN HISTORICAL NARRATIVES: A HISTORIOGRAPHICAL CRITIQUE Umar Abstract Buginese migrants are present in various historical narratives. Every historian also has a different way in presenting their narrating process. Those historical narratives gave birth to various notions of Buginese migrants. One of the notions often attributed by historians to Buginese migrants is their lives are almost always associated with the sea. The purpose of this research is to examine how historians present Buginese migrants in their historical narratives. This research uses the historical narrative research model developed by Hayden White. There are three Hayden White’s concepts used in this study, among others, the concept of Representation, Individual, and Morals. These concepts are theoretical tools to analyze four historical texts about Buginese migrants. The results of these analyses become a historiographical critique. This research found that every historian has a different identification of Buginese migrants in each of their narratives. The Buginese people in Johor are identified as closely connected with power by Kesuma. Buginese people in Bali are associated with trade by Suwitha. The Buginese people in Kamal Muara are closely associated with fishermen by Said and Prabowo. Lastly, Buginese people in Ambon are associated with Islam by Sholeh. Each historian has a different position in narrating Buginese migrants. Their tendencies are affected by their own background. Keraguan itu muncul karena apa yang saya alami sepertinya tidak seheroik cerita pengalaman perantauan orang Bugis yang pernah saya dengar. Akan tetapi, Proses pengerjaan tesis ini tetap saya ibaratkan sebagai perjalanan manusia Bugis yang memilih merantau, meninggalkan tanah kelahiran untuk menjalani kehidupan. Dalam prosesnya, kehidupan seperti menuntun saya memilih kuliah di program studi Ilmu Religi dan Budaya (IRB) Universitas Sanata Dharma, yang tidak pernah terbayang sebelumnya. Pengerjaan tesis ini merupakan proses terakhir di IRB sebagai syarat untuk merampungkan studi, sebelum melanjutkan perjalanan kehidupan lainnya. The subject consists of 55 respondents based on education level, age, and gender categories. The data taken were Sundanese Banten dialect speech act by the respondents, both literal and non-literal speech, the information given is the indication of Sundanese Banten dialect shift factors. Data collection technique in this research is triangulation (combination) in the form of participative observation, documentation, and deep interview by using “Basa Urang Project” instrument. This research reveals that the problems related to the indication of Sundanese Banten dialect shift in Tanjung Lesung and Banten Carita Beach which causes identity crisis to Tanjung Lesung and Banten Carita Beach people. This study discovers (1) description of Bantenese people local identity, (2) perception of Tanjung Lesung and Carita Beach people on the use of Sundanese Banten dialect in Tanjung Lesung and Carita Beach tourism area and (3) the indications of Sundanese Banten dialect shift in Tanjung Lesung and Carita Beach tourism area.

    Volume-23 Issue-4 ORAL AND WRITTEN TRADITIONS OF BUGINESE: INTERPRETATION WRITING USING THE BUGINESE LANGUAGE IN SOUTH SULAWESI 1Muhammad Yusuf, 2Ismail Suardi Wekke Abstract---The uniqueness of the Buginese tribe is in the form of its oral and written traditions that go hand in hand. Oral tradition is supported by the Lontarak Manuscript which consists of Lontarak Pasang, Attoriolong, and Pau-pau ri Kadong. On the other hand, the Buginese society has the Lontarak script, which supports the written tradition. Both of them support the transmission of the knowledge of the Buginese scholars orally and in writing. This study would review the written tradition of Buginese scholars who produce works in the forms of interpretations using the Buginese language. They have many works in bequeathing their knowledge, which is loaded with local characters, including the substance and medium of the language. The embryonic interpretation began with the translation works and rubrics. Its development can be divided based on the characteristics and the period of its emergence. The First Period (1945 – 1960s) was marked by copying interpretations from the results of scholars’ reading. The Second Period (the mid-1960s – 1980s) was marked by the presence of footnotes as needed, translations per word, simple indexes, and complete interpretations with translations and comments. The Third Period (the 1980s – 2000s) started by the use of Indonesian and Arabic languages and the maintenance and development of local interpretations in Buginese, Makassarese, Tator, and Mandar. What was the true character of the Indonesian revolution, and when did it end? This article builds a case for viewing Indonesia’s revolution from a new perspective. Based on a revisionist reading of classic texts on the Revolution, I argue that the idea of a singular, elite-driven and Java-centric "revolution" dismisses the central meaning of the revolution itself, as it was simultaneously national and regional in scope, political and social in character, and it spanned more than the five years as it was previously examined. Frederick This thesis discusses one central problem: What happened to Indonesian historiography in the New Order (1966-98)? To analyze the problem, the author studies the connections between the major themes in his intellectual autobiography and those in the metahistory of the regime. Proceeding in chronological and thematic manner, the thesis comes in three parts. Part One presents the author’s intellectual autobiography, which illustrates how, as a member of the generation of people who grew up in the New Order, he came into contact with history. Part Two examines the genealogy of and the major issues at stake in the post-New Order controversy over the rectification of history. Part Three ends with several concluding observations. First, the historiographical engineering that the New Order committed was not effective. Second, the regime created the tools for people to criticize itself, which shows that it misunderstood its own society. Third, Indonesian contemporary culture is such that people abhor the idea that there is no single truth.

To reach a bright spot in this study, the authors use historical, sociological, anthropological studies, and writings supporting this paper to complete the desired information. This study's results revealed that the Bugis people's desire to migrate because of the real situation that allows them to migrate. This can be seen at least in two ways, namely the sociological reality and psychological reality. Sociological Realityin In the middle of Islamization's process related to the Gowa Kingdom Political movement to subdue the kingdoms that did not yet embrace Islam. Psychological reality because of the chaos that was allegedly hurting his survival. Population movements carried out by Bugis communities in various regions turned out to be able to provide a positive impact on their migration. The most scientific thing to provide evidence of the Bugis migrating community's success is to look at the highest position held in the area of migration. They can also form their ethnicity without changing or hurting the culture that already exists in each region where they migrate.
