Gwireddu Breuddwydion O Ganu Gydag Arwyr Cerddorol Cymru 21.12.20 Sara Maredudd Jones Cyswllt Contact Ffôn Phone 0330 5880 369 Erthygl i’r Wasg Press Release Gwireddu breuddwydion o ganu gydag arwyr cerddorol Cymru Dim ots os ydych chi rhwng 6 a 96 oed - mae gan bob un ohonom ein harwr cerddorol. Ond os fysech chi'n cael y cyfle i rannu llwyfan gydag unrhyw un, pwy fyddech chi’n ei ddewis? Dyma’n union sy’n digwydd mewn cyfres newydd ar S4C ym mis Ionawr, Canu Gyda Fy Arwr. Gyda Rhys Meirion wrth y llyw yn teithio i bob cwr o Gymru i wireddu breuddwydion pobl i ganu gyda’u harwyr cerddorol, mae hon yn rhaglen llawn hwyl sy’n sicr o godi calon yn ystod nosweithiau oer y gaeaf. Yr arwyr fydd yn rhoi gwên ar wynebau eu ffans yn y gyfres yw Elin Fflur, Dafydd Iwan a Shân Cothi ac mae tri pherson gwahanol ym mhob rhaglen yn cael y cyfle i wireddu eu breuddwyd. Cafwyd degau o ymatebion i’r alwad - rhai yn enwebu eu hunain ac eraill yn cael eu henwebu gan ffrindiau neu deulu, fel sypreis llwyr! Yn y rhaglen gyntaf, y gantores, y gyfansoddwraig a’r cyflwynydd teledu o Sir Fôn, Elin Fflur, sy’n gwireddu breuddwyd tri unigolyn lwcus. Mae Ellis Lloyd Jones, myfyriwr Cymraeg ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd sy’n wreiddiol o Gwm Rhondda ac yn wyneb adnabyddus ar Tik Tok, yn cael sypreis enfawr ar ôl cael ei enwebu am fod yn ffrind arbennig. Un sydd wedi’i enwebu gan ei gydweithwyr yw Terry Tuffrey, cyn-ddisgybl Ysgol Hafod Lon sydd erbyn hyn yn fyfyriwr yng Ngholeg Meirion Dwyfor ac yn gweithio mewn caffi ym Mhorthmadog. Cafodd ei enwebu gan ei gydweithwyr yn y caffi am ei fod wrth ei fodd gydag Elin Fflur, yn mwynhau canu ac yn gwneud gymaint i’r gymuned leol. Y trydydd sy’n cael y cyfle i ganu gydag Elin Fflur yw Catrin Wyn Roberts. Mae Catrin yn un sydd bob amser wedi mwynhau perfformio - o gystadlu yn yr Eisteddfod fel merch fach i ganu gyda’i gitâr ar Instagram. Bydd Catrin ac Elin yn canu’r gân ‘Enfys’ – cân o obaith y cyfansoddodd Elin yn ystod y cyfnod clo ar ôl gweld yr holl luniau enfys yn y ffenestri led led y wlad. Cân addas iawn i Catrin sy’n Ffisiotherapydd yn adran Achosion Brys Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. Ond, yn ystod Covid-19 cafodd Catrin ei arallgyfeirio i weithio ar ward anadlu yn yr Uned Gofal Dwys. Dywedodd Catrin, wrth drafod ei phrofiadau gyda Rhys Meirion: “Nes i weld lot o bethau eithaf trawmatig, ond hefyd lot o bethau positif - y tîm yn gweithio'n dda gyda’i gilydd, dysgu lot a dwi’n meddwl ein bod ni gyd fel tîm wedi bod trwy adeg caled. Roedd pawb yn cefnogi’i gilydd a rŵan dwi’n teimlo fel Ffisiotherapydd gwell achos bo fi ‘di bod trwy’r cyfnod yma.” Mae ‘Enfys’ yn gân arbennig iawn i Catrin ac ar ddiwedd y rhaglen, cawn weld deuawd hyfryd rhyngddi hi ac Elin tu allan i’r ysbyty, gyda lliwiau’r enfys yn cael eu taflu ar yr adeilad. Mae’r profiad yma wedi rhoi hwb i Catrin i’r dyfodol: “Ar ôl heno, dwi’n gobeithio gallu canu lot mwy - mewn gigs a gobeithio priodasau - a chanu mwy yn y Gymraeg hefyd. Ffeindio cords a dechrau rhoi fideos i fyny ar yr internet. Pwy sy’n gwybod!?” Ond i Elin Fflur, roedd yn fraint i ganu gyda Catrin o gofio’r holl waith pwysig mae staff ein Gwasanaeth Iechyd wedi gwneud trwy gydol y flwyddyn hon: “Dyna be sy’n anhygoel - ‘da ni’n mynd ac yn gwneud hyn – ond mae ‘na bobl sydd ddim yn perfformio’n gyhoeddus yn gweithio mewn llefydd fel hyn yn gwneud gwaith arwrol bob dydd. Nhw ydi’r arwyr. “Felly efallai ei bod hi’n canu efo’i harwr ond dwi’n meddwl bo fi’n canu efo’n harwr hefyd.” Yn yr ail raglen, Dafydd Iwan yw’r arwr cerddorol ac mae’n canu gyda Dai Jones, gofalwr Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli, Win Jones, Penrhyndeudraeth, sy’n dathlu ei phen blwydd yn 95 ac Amala, disgybl 6 oed o ysgol aml-ddiwylliannol, Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Hamadryad. Ac yn y rhaglen olaf, mae Shân Cothi’n gwireddu breuddwydion Jessamy Ashton o Lanidloes, Eric Williams o Lanymddyfri a Brynle Griffiths o Bandy Tudur, ger Abergele. Dyma raglen i’r teulu cyfan sy’n addo gwneud i chi chwerthin, golli ambell ddeigryn a mwynhau ambell i sypreis arbennig. But if you had the chance to share a stage with anyone, who would you choose? This is exactly what happens in a new series on S4C in January, Canu Gyda Fy Arwr (Singing With My Hero). With Rhys Meirion touring all over Wales to fulfil people's dreams of singing with their musical heroes, this programme full of fun that is sure to warm the heart during the cold winter evenings. The heroes in the series are Elin Fflur, Dafydd Iwan and Shân Cothi and three different people in each programme have the opportunity to fulfil their dream. There were many responses to the call - some nominating themselves and others nominated by friends or family as a complete surprise! In the first programme, Anglesey singer, songwriter and television presenter Elin Fflur fulfils the dreams of three lucky individuals. Ellis Lloyd Jones, a Welsh student at Cardiff University originally from the Rhondda Valley and a well-known face on Tik Tok, gets a huge surprise after being nominated for being a special friend. Nominated by his colleagues is Terry Tuffrey, a former pupil of Ysgol Hafod Lon who is now a student at Coleg Meirion Dwyfor and works in a café in Porthmadog. He was nominated by his colleagues in the café because he loves Elin Fflur, enjoys singing and does so much for the local community. The third who has the chance to sing with Elin Fflur is Catrin Wyn Roberts. Catrin has always enjoyed performing - from competing in the Eisteddfod as a little girl to singing with her guitar on Instagram. Catrin and Elin sing the song 'Enfys' (Rainbow) - a song of hope that Elin composed during the lockdown period after seeing all the rainbow pictures in the windows all over the country. A very suitable song for Catrin, a physiotherapist in the Emergency Department at Glan Clwyd Hospital. However, during Covid-19 Catrin was diverted to work on a respiratory ward in the Intensive Care Unit. Catrin, discussing her experiences with Rhys Meirion, said: “I saw a lot of pretty traumatic things, but also a lot of positives - the team working well together, learning a lot and I think we as a team have all been through a tough time. Everyone was supporting each other and now I feel like a better physiotherapist because I've been through this time.” 'Enfys' is a very special song for Catrin and at the end of the programme we see a lovely duet between herself and Elin outside the hospital, with the colours of the rainbow on the building. This experience has certainly given Catrin a boost for the future: “After tonight, I hope to be able to sing a lot more - at gigs and hopefully weddings - and sing more in Welsh too. Find chords and start putting videos up on the internet. Who knows!?” But for Elin Fflur, it was a privilege to sing with Catrin given all the important work our Health Service staff have done throughout the year: “That's what's amazing - we go and do this - but people who don't perform in public working in places like this do heroic work every day. They are the heroes. "So maybe she's singing with her hero, but I think I'm singing with my hero too." In the second programme, Dafydd Iwan is the musical hero and sings with Dai Jones, caretaker of Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli, Win Jones, Penrhyndeudraeth, who is celebrating her 95th birthday and Amala, a six year old pupil from the multicultural school, Hamadryad Welsh Primary School. And in the final programme, Shân Cothi fulfils the dreams of Jessamy Ashton of Llanidloes, Eric Williams of Llandovery and Brynle Griffiths of Pandy Tudur, near Abergele. This is a family-friendly programme that promises to make you laugh, cry a few tears and enjoy some special surprises. • S4C Review of Statement of Programme Policy 2008
S4C Review of Statement of Programme Policy 2008 Introduction This is the S4C Authority’s Review of the performance of S4C’s public services against the Statement of Programme Policy 2008. This Review was prepared in accordance with the requirements outlined in paragraph 4(1) (b) of Annex 2 of the Communications Act 2003. The Review is based on the objectives set out in the Statement of Programme Policy 2008. The Statement noted that S4C would continue to develop and invest in the provision for children in line with the results of the S4C Authority Consultation into services for children. This aim was fulfilled. 2008 was a historic year for S4C’s Programmes and Content Service with the launch of Cyw , the new service for young children. Nursery provision was extended from one hour to six and a half hours per day, five days a week, and a number of brand new series and characters were introduced to the screen. As mentioned in the Statement of Programme Policy, 2008 was designated a ‘Green Year’ by S4C and there were several highlights to this special season of programming, including Natur Cymru , Yr Afon and Byw yn Ardd. There was an undertaking to use suitable distribution platforms with an emphasis on broadband to increase the value and usage of S4C content. In September, S4/Clic was launched – the Channel’s online viewing service developed to improve the view-again service first introduced in 2006. As a result, there was a year-on-year increase of 182% in the online viewing sessions during 2008, in comparison with 2007.
