Fyzickogeografická hranica Balkánskeho polostrova prechádza medzi panónskou zníženinou a dinárskou horskou sústavou, medzi Karpatmi a Starou planinou v okolí srbského mesta Niš (dolina rieky Timok) a medzi bulharskou Podunajskou rovinou a Predbalkánom. 9UiPFL JHRJUDILFNHM UHJLRQDOL]iFLH SUH 3\UHQHMVNê ,EHUVNê SRORVWURY D%DOHiU\ SRXåtYDPH SRPHQRYDQLH LEHUVNê SULHVWRU SUH $SHQLQVNê SRORVWURY VRVWURYPL DSHQLQVNê SULHVWRU3RPHQRYDQLHDOSVNR±SiGVN\SULHVWRUMHY\þOHQHQpSUHKRUVNp~]HPLHWDOLDQVN\FK ÈOSDM3iGVNXQtåLQXQi]RYKHOpQVN\SULHVWRUSUH*UpFNRVRVWURYPLDSRPHQRYDQLHYêFKRGQp 6WUHGRPRULHSUHRVWURY&\SUXV V českej geografickej literatúre nájdeme aj pomenovanie „európske Stredozemie alebo Stredomorie“ (Netopil, Bičík, Brinke

  • Picos De Europa-Spain)
Geographia Technica, Special Issue, 2010, pp .6 to 11 AUTOMATIC CLOSE–RANGE PHOTOGRAMMETY TO DIGITAL TERRAIN MODEL IN ICE PATCH JOU NEGRO (PICOS DE EUROPA-SPAIN) Javier De Matías BEJARANO1, Fernando Berenguer SEMPERE1, José Juan De SANJOSÉ BLASCO1 ABSTRACT: In this paper we present a stereo feature-based method using SIFT (Scale-invariant feature transform) descriptors. We use automatic feature extractors, matching algorithms between images and techniques to produce a DTM (Digital Terrain Model) using convergent shots of an ice patch. The geomorphologic structure observed in this study is the Jou Negro ice patch (Cantabrian Mountain, Spain). Keywords: Geomorphology, Close - Range Photogrammetry, DTM, SIFT. 1. INTRODUCTION The Jou Negro cirque is located in the Picos de Europa Massif (Cantabrian Mountain) (Fig. 1), at north of Iberian Peninsula (43º12´03´´N; 4º51´12´´W). The Picos de Europa massif is an Atlantic mountain located at 20 km from the Atlantic seaboard, and reaching 2648 m a.s.l. at the Torre Cerredo peak, the highest peak of the Cantabrian Mountains. The relief of the Picos de Europa is characterized by great differences in altitude (over 1500– 2300 m), and it is the first orographic barrier facing the rain-bearing winds from the Atlantic Ocean (González, 2006; González, 2007). The climate is warm, characterised by high precipitations, reaching the 3000 mm/yr on the top. The precipitations are mainly as snow during winter period, but the rain and high cloudiness occur all year. Fig. 1 Jou Negro Situation in 17th October 2007 The Picos de Europa range consists of a succession of fault thrusts of northern dipping, calcareous rocks where the predominant rocks are limestone of Carboniferous age.

Abstract - Notes on Ocydromus alticola and O. incognitus, with description of a new subspecies of O. alticola from Monti della Laga, Central Apennine (Coleoptera Carabidae). Some taxonomical and nomenclatorial problems concerning the genus Ocydromus Clairville, 1806 are discussed with particular ref- erence to which subgenus the italian species of the “Gruppe des nitidulum” sensu Netolitzky (1943) are to be referred to. Ocydromus incognitus (G. Müller, 1931) and Ocydromus alticola (A. Fiori, 1903), characterized by a similar morphology of the endophallus, are included in the subgenus Peryphus Dejean, 1821.

This is related to its great cul- tural significance, since the ancient Greeks considered this mountain as the habitat of their Gods, ever since Zeus became the dominant figure of the ancient Greek re- ligion and consequently the protagonist of the cultural regime. Before the genera- tion of Zeus, Olympus was inhabited by the generation of Cronus. In this paper we shall refer to a lesser known mythological reference which, in our opinion, presents similarities to the geotectonic evolution of the wider area of Olympus. According to Apollodorus and other great authors, the God Poseidon and Iphimedia had twin sons, the Aloades, namely Otus and Ephialtes, who showed a tendency to gigantism. When they reached the age of nine, they were about 16 m. tall and 4.5 m. wide.
