PROSPECTUS FOR ADMISSION TO POST GRADUATE DEGREE COURSES IN GOVT/AIDED/ SELF-FINANCING ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGES AFFILIATED TO THE & CENTRES OF THE UNIVERSITY FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2018-2019

1. INTRODUCTION Prospectus for admission to the Post Graduate (PG) Degree Courses in Govt./Aided/Self financing Affiliated Colleges & Centres of the University, for the academic year 2018-19, as approved by the University of Kerala, is published herewith. It contains general information and rules relating to the admission to PG Degree Courses in Govt./Aided/Self financing affiliated Colleges under the University of Kerala & Centres of the University. 1.2 The Prospectus issued by the University and various colleges during the previous years for PG admissions are not valid for the year 2018-19. 1.3 Admissions to the seats to be filled by the University for the PG courses (except those specifically mentioned) are regulated on the basis of grade/marks obtained in the qualifying examination. The details of seats, to which admissions are made through the rank list prepared accordingly, are contained in the relevant paragraphs. 1.4 Statute 19 (3), of Chapter 24 of the KUFS 1977 which states that ‘ no student shall be admitted to any course of instruction in the colleges in anticipation of affiliation’ , shall be strictly adhered to, in all the colleges. 1.5 Authority to prescribe qualification for admission to the various courses of studies. According to Sub-Section (v) and (vi) of Section 25 of the Kerala University Act, 1974, the Academic Council shall have the power to prescribe qualifications for admission of students to the various courses of study (and to the Examinations) and the conditions under which exemptions shall be granted, and to make provision for the admission of students to the various courses of studies on the basis of merit in order to maintain the standards of education. 1.6 Agreement for Direct Payment - Relevant provisions for admission to the various courses in Aided Colleges. Article 18 of the Agreement for Direct Payment entered into between the Government and the Educational Agencies of Private Colleges stipulates that all future admission of students to the Private Affiliated Colleges shall be on the following basis, viz :- a) Twenty percent of the total number of seats in each college under the Educational Agency shall be reserved for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Those seats which cannot be filled on this basis shall be filled on the basis of merit from among backward minority communities, in case the college is run by a backward minority community and from among OBCs , in all other cases. b) *Ten/Twenty **percent of the seats shall be reserved for the candidates belonging to the community to which the college belongs. These seats will be filled strictly on the basis of merit from among the students of the said community. c) *Fifty/Forty **percent of the seats will be filled by open selection on the basis of merit. d) The remaining seats will be filled by the Educational Agency by candidates of their choice. Note: * This will apply to Forward Community Colleges ** This will apply to Backward Community Colleges.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION 1. All candidates who wish to apply for PG Programme (irrespective of Category) must compulsorily register online, including Community Quota and Management Quota. 2. Those who wish to apply for admission under Community quota shall submit hard copy(Print out) of the application, to the respective colleges, within the time prescribed by the University. Students applying under Community Quata shall opt the College and Course of their choice at the time of online registration. 3. The candidates who are applying for Sports Quota should specifically mention the same and opt the College and Course of their choice at the time of online registration. They will be considered for General merit seats also. Such candidates should take the hard copy of the application and submit it to the respective Colleges where they wish to be considered under Sports Quota along with the attested copies of the supporting documents. 4. The candidates who come under the PWD (Persons With Disability-Differently Abled) quota should specifically mention the same at the time of online registration. 5. The candidates applying for Management quota seats / Special reservation Nominees should register online before the closure of admission. After completion of the online registration, the candidate should take the print out of the same. DO NOT SEND HARD COPIES TO THE UNIVERSITY . The hard copy of the online application with supporting documents should be kept by the candidate and it has to be submitted at the time of admission in the respective colleges.

6. Candidates coming under SC/ST/OEC/SEBC are not eligible for BPL reservation. Only the candidates belonging to the Forward communities who are economically backward are eligible for BPL reservation. A certificate from local body (Panchayat/Municipality/Corporation) to that effect along with community certificate from the competent authority shall be produced at the time of admission. In case of failure to specify the community, the candidate shall not be eligible for reservation in the BPL category. 1.7 Admission to the following PG courses will not come under the purview of Centralised Allotment Process. The eligibility criteria and admission procedures for the following courses shall be as prescribed in the ‘Hand Book for Admission’ of the University. MBA, MCA, MAHRM, MPE, MSW, MFA, and MASLP.

2. COURSES, INSTITUTIONS AND SEATS 2.1 Details of Courses and Duration: The course leads to Masters Degree in the relevant subject. The course extends for a period of four semesters. The course of study shall be by regular attendance for the requisite number of lectures, practical training and other means. 2.2 Institutions and Subjects for the PG Degree Courses: The list of colleges to which admissions are to be made and the subjects offered and the total strength in each institution are given as Annexure –I, in the Prospectus 2.3 Categorization of Seats: Seats available in Govt/Aided/Self financing Affiliated Colleges are mainly classified as Merit Seats/ Community seats/Management seats and Reservation seats. a. Merit Seats: The seats that are to be filled by the University in Government/Aided/Self financing Affiliated Colleges are classified as “Merit Seats.” b. Community Seats: The seats in aided Colleges that are filled by the Management concerned, on the basis of merit among their community candidates, are classified as “Community Seats.”

c. Management Seats: The seats in Aided and Self-financing affiliated Colleges that are to be filled by the Managements concerned are classified as “Management Seats.” d. Reservation Seats: The seats in Government/Aided/Self-financing affiliated Colleges/Centres of the University that are earmarked for SC/ST/SEBC/BPL/PWD/Reservation for Nominees/Sports persons are classified as “Reservation Seats.” 3. RESERVATION OF SEATS Apart from the merit seats, the seats earmarked for SC/ST candidates in Government/Aided/Self-financing Colleges/Centres of the University will be filled by the University. In addition to this, SEBC seats in Government/Self-financing Colleges also will be filled by the University. 3.1 Types of Reservations: Seats will be reserved for the following categories in Government/Aided/Self-financing Colleges/UITs for various PG courses. a. Reservation for Nominees b. Reservation for Persons With Disabilities c. Special Reservation d. Mandatory Reservation e. Reservation of seats for the Widows/Wards of Armed Forces Personnel killed/disabled in action 3.1.1 Reservation for Nominees: a. An additional seat shall be created in all Government/Aided Colleges exclusively for the purpose of accommodating students sponsored by the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. This seat shall not be filled up by other candidates. The Head of the Institutions should forward the list of such candidates admitted, separately, to the University, immediately after admissions (Govt. Letter No.5455/B3/2006/H Edn., dated 15.03.2006) (U.O.No.Ac.B/1/1134/2006 dated 26.04.2006). They should also register online before or after admission. b. Two additional seats shall be created in all Affiliated Colleges exclusively for the purpose of accommodating candidates belonging to Jammu & Kashmir for admission to PG courses from the academic year 2014 – 2015 onwards (U.O.No.Ac.B1/2292/Admns/2012 dated 01.03.2013). Such students should also register online before or after admission and approach Colleges for admission and the Principal should forward the list of such candidates after admission. These seats shall not be filled up by other candidates. C. One Seat each be created for each PG course (only wherever necessary) in all affiliated Arts & Science Colleges under University of Kerala exclusively for the purpose of accommodating Malayalee students of Andaman. The colleges shall submit the list of such admitted students to the University, immediately after admissions along with the documents to prove that the student belongs to the Malayalee community in Andaman. This seat shall not be filled up by other candidates. 3.1.2 Reservation for Persons With Disabilities (PWD)-Differently Abled Persons 5% seats of the sanctioned strength shall be created, over and above, exclusively for Physically Handicapped candidates in Government Colleges and Higher Education Institutions receiving aid from the Government (as per clause 32(l) of chapter VI, The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016). The applicants under this quota will be selected on the basis of existing rules. One seat for each Post Graduate course in all other Colleges shall be reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates. These seats are over and above the sanctioned strength of the Course/subjects in the College and the same will be sanctioned by the University every year.

As per Clause 2 (r), Chapter I of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, ‘Person with benchmark disability’ means a person with not less than 40% of a specified disability where specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes a person with

disability where specified disability has been defined in measurable terms, as certified by the certifying authority. Candidates who have a minimum of 40% disability alone will be eligible to apply for this quota. Candidates seeking admission under PWD category should submit the ‘Certificate of disability’, issued not earlier than 5 years prior to the submission of application, by the District Medical Board or bodies of higher status, certifying the degree of percentage of disability or Permanent Disability Card issued by the State Government. Based on the details furnished in the online application, candidates will be provisionally included under the ‘Persons with Disability’ category. The Permanent Disability Card issued by the State Government be also considered.

Authorities of all Educational Institutions/Colleges affiliated to the University of Kerala are directed to make appropriate arrangements for Medical examination of students with disabilities at the place of counselling/admission, in the event of the authenticity of disability certificate being produced by the candidate is in doubt. Otherwise, the disability certificate issued by the appropriate authority should suffice. (Circular No.Ac.BI/PH/2011, dated 26.02.2011).  The selection of candidates under this category will be based on the rank in the inter-se merit list and not on the basis of the degree of disability.  No reservation of seats is allowed for Blind candidates for Science subjects. 3.1.3 Special Reservation: - 3.1.3(A)Sports Quota One seat shall be given for sports persons over and above the sanctioned strength in each subject for the First Post Graduate Degree Programme. Admission to such seats shall be made as per the procedure for admission under sports quota. If the required number of sports persons is not available, the seats should be kept vacant and shall not be filled by other candidates.

Norms for Admission to the Seats Reserved Under Sports Quota for Post Graduate Courses

1. Representing the country and winning the I/II/III in the International Competitions (Olympics, Approved World Competitions, Approved World University Competitions, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, Afro-Asian Games, SAF Games, South Asian Championships etc.) 2. Representing the country in International Competitions (Olympics, Approved World Competitions, Approved World University Competitions, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, Afro-Asian Games, SAF Games, South Asian Championships etc.) 3. Winning the I/II/III in the Senior National Championships. 4. Winning the I/II/III/IV in the All Inter -University Competitions. 5. Representing Senior State in National Championships. 6. Winning the I/II/III in the Junior/Youth National Championships. 7. Winning the I/II/III/IV in the Zonal Inter-University Competitions. 8. Representing Senior State in South Zone Championship. 9. Representing University in Inter -University Competitions. 10. Representing the state in the Junior/Youth National Championships. 11. Representing the state in the Junior/Youth Zone Championships. 12. Winning the I/II/III place in the All Kerala Inter-Collegiate (College Games) organized by Kerala Sports Council. 13. Winning the I/II/III place in the Senior/Junior Inter District Championships. 14. Winning the I/II/III in the University Intercollegiate Competitions*. 15. Participating in the State Championships. *included vide Item No. 31.14.29 of the minutes of the meeting of the Syndicate held on 06.12.2017

General Guidelines

i. For filling up the seats reserved under Sports quota, hierarchy of preference shall be given as further norms/guidelines formulated by the University in addition to his/her satisfying academic eligibility. ii. When the candidates fulfill minimum academic eligibility, the academic merit shall not be preferred over Sports merit in Sports quota reservation seats, except in the case of a tie in the sports merit. iii. The original certificate/s from the Competent authority/ authorities (Secretary, Organizer etc. as per the Circular Letter No.Ad.D1.3.1276/74 dtd 23.01.1979) must be produced by the candidate to prove his/her claim. iv. The verification of the certificate/s shall be done by the Director of Physical Education of the University/ Head of the Department of Physical Education of the College. v. For securing admission to PG programmes under Sports quota, including readmission, the performance of the candidate during the preceding three years shall be considered. vi. Preferences shall be given to those disciplines which have All India Inter-University Competitions. vii. In case of a tie, with respect to the Sports merit, preference shall be given to that candidate who represents the discipline (Game/Sport) of the choice of the college concerned. The college shall be asked to submit their home discipline at the beginning of each academic year.

Note: The candidates who are applying for Sports Quota should specifically mention the same during the Online Registration. They will also be considered for General merit seats. 3.1.3 (B) Arts Quota Students who are declared as Kalaprathibha / Kalathilakam of the University of Kerala in any year during their Degree course, and who are applicants for PG Course in a College affiliated to this University, during the succeeding academic year shall be admitted to the PG course/College of his/her first option, if otherwise eligible, by creating seats over and above the sanctioned strength. 3.1.4 Mandatory Reservation 3.1.4. a Leaving the seats set apart for Persons With Disabilities, the remaining seats for each course in Govt. Colleges will be distributed as per the G.O (MS) No.107/08/H.Edn. dated 30.8.08 and corresponding U.O AcB/I/Admns BC/2008 dated 20.9.2008.

Candidates who enjoy communal reservation such as SEBC, SC/ST who have BPL endorsement in the Ration Card are not eligible for BPL reservations. Only candidates belonging to Forward Communities who are Economically Backward are eligible for BPL reservations. Such candidates must produce BPL certificate from the Village Officer/Revenue Authority/Local Body concerned along with community certificate from the competent authority. In case of failure to specify the community, the candidate shall not be eligible for reservation in the BPL category.

Note: As per U.O AcB/I/Admns BC/2008 dated 20.09.2008, for reservation of 20% seats under SEBC, the total seats for PG courses in a college will be taken as one unit . If necessary, for allotment of such seats, rotation system will be followed. Note: (a) Thiyya and Billava will be considered as Ezhava Community for reservation. (b) SEBC candidates should produce Non Creamy Layer Certificate for getting the benefit of reservation. (c) The enhancement of additional seats in Government colleges and University Departments shall not incur any additional financial commitment to the Government/ University.

3.1.4. b In Affiliated Aided Colleges, seats for each course will be distributed as per the existing pattern given below:

The academic eligibility of such candidates shall be the same as p rescribed in the Prospectus, 2018-19.

3.1.4.c In Self-Financing affiliated colleges 50% seats under Government quota will be filled on the basis of merit.

3.1.5 Reservation of Seats for the Widows/Wards of Armed Forces Personnel Killed/Disabled in action. Additional seats over and above the sanctioned strength may be created as and when required for the widows/wards of Armed Forces Personnel killed/disabled in action during peace time in Central/State Universities/Autonomous Professional/Non-professional institutions under the purview of Ministry of Human Resources Development as per UGC policy. CLAIMS FOR MANDATORY RESERVATION AND CERTIFICATES TO BE PRODUCED Claims for Mandatory Reservations must be made by a candidate at the time of submission of online application. Candidates should also mention the item of reservation claimed in the relevant columns in the online application. Candidates should also satisfy the eligibility conditions as per Clause 5 of the Prospectus. The claims for mandatory reservation once made in the application cannot be altered by the candidate under any circumstances. 4.1. Merit Seats: The seats under the Merit category will be filled purely on merit basis irrespective of the Category/Community to which the candidates belong. 4.1.2 . Claim for Communal reservation under ‘Socially and Educationally Backward Classes’ (SEBC): Reservation of seats to the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes will be in accordance with the provisions contained in G.O. (P) 208/66/Edn. Dated 2.5.1966, as amended from time to time.

a. Candidates belonging to Ezhava, Muslim, Other Backward Hindus, Latin Catholic/SIUC and Other Backward Christian communities, claiming reservation under SEBC quota should invariably produce both “Community” and ‘Non Creamy Layer Certificate’ obtained from the Village Officer concerned. Candidate belonging to Non Creamy Layer category only are eligible for claiming reservation to SEBC category. Annual Income is not a criterion for reservation for SEBC candidates. Only the claims of the candidates of those communities that are included in the list of communities will be considered. (U.O.No. Ac.BI/UG Admns. BC/2011, dated 11.01.2012). b. Applicants claiming reservation under community quota in aided colleges (ref. Annexure I), who belong to the community of the Management which runs the college, will have to submit the Community Certificate obtained from the Revenue Authority/ Parish Priest/ any other Competent Authority concerned, along with the application to the college concerned.

4.1.3 Claim for Reservation under Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes Quota a. Candidates claiming reservation under Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes quota should obtain the Caste/Community Certificate from the Tahsildar.

Those who produce false SC/ST Certificate for claiming reservation under SC/ST quota shall be liable for penalties as per rules.

b. Claim of OEC candidates against the un-availed seats of SC/ST candidates . Other Eligible Community (OEC) candidates who also come under SEBC Category, claiming allotment to the un-availed seats, if any, under SC/ST quota, should furnish Community and Non Creamy Layer Certificate obtained from the Village Officer concerned. OEC candidates belonging to Non Creamy Layer category alone are eligible for such seats . Other OEC candidates (not coming under SEBC Category) should furnish Community and Income Certificate obtained from the Village Officer concerned. OEC candidates with annual family income less than Rs. Eight Lakh alone are eligible for such seats and such seats will be filled as per rules laid by the Govt. Converted Christians do not come under the SC/ST category. They belong to OEC category. (Ref. Annexure IV) 4.2 Other General Rules for Mandatory Reservation 4.2.1 In the Government/Self-financing Colleges, if the seats reserved for SC/ST candidates are not filled up by them even after notifying the vacancies three times through the media (on three different dates), those seats may be filled up by candidates belonging to OEC, and in their absence, candidates belonging to SEBC as per the existing rules. The seats that still remain un-availed will go to the Open Merit Quota. In Backward community Colleges with Minority Status, if the seats reserved for SC/ST candidates are not filled up by SC/ST candidates even after notifying the vacancies three times through the media (on three different dates), those seats may be filled up by candidates belonging to the respective community. In other aided Colleges, if the seats reserved for SC/ST candidates are not filled up by SC/ST candidates even after notifying the vacancies three times through the media(on three different dates), those seats may be filled up by candidates belonging to SEBC. The communities included in the list of OEC which are also included in SEBC may also be considered along with SEBC candidates for filling the vacant SC/ST seats in Aided Forward and Backward Colleges. 4.2.2 Claim for fee concession to OEC candidates: Candidates belonging to Other Eligible Communities are exempted from payment of fee at the time of allotment to PG Degree Courses under Government/Community quota irrespective of annual family income as per G.O (MS) No. 36/07/SCSTDD, dated: 03.07.2007. They should provide the Community Certificate from the Village Officer/ Tahsildar at the time of admission.

5. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION 5.1 Nativity: Candidate should be an Indian citizen. Candidates seeking admission to PG courses will be categorized as Keralite and Non-Keralite. a. Keralite: A candidate of Kerala origin will be categorized as a Keralite. Children of All India Service Officers allotted to Kerala Cadre are deemed to be Keralites as per G.O. (Rt) No. 822/08/H.Edn.Dated 09-05-2008. But they will not be eligible for communal/special reservation. b. Non-Keralite: A candidate who does not come under Keralite category will be categorized as Non-Keralite. Such a candidate will be eligible for admission only after all the applicants of Keralite origin are ranked and allotted. 5.1.1 In order to prove that a candidate is an Indian citizen of Kerala origin for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, he/she has to produce any one of the following certificates. a. In the case of candidates who have undergone College studies in Kerala, a Course Certificate from the Head of the educational institution last attended in Kerala, certifying that the candidate has undergone his/her studies in Kerala for not less than 3 (three) continuous years within a period of 12 (twelve) years, immediately prior to the completion of the Bachelor’ Degree or equivalent examination. OR b. A certificate from the Village Officer/ Tahsildar to show that he/she or his/her mother/ father was born in Kerala. OR c. Certificate from the Village Officer/ Tahsildar to the effect that the candidate has been a resident of Kerala State for a continuous period of five years within a period of twelve years. OR d. The true copy of relevant page of Secondary School Leaving Certificate showing the Place of Birth in Kerala, of the candidate. OR e. The true copy of the relevant page of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate showing Place of Birth in Kerala of either of the parents of the candidate with corroborative certificate to establish the relationship between the parent and the candidate. OR f. The true copy of the relevant page of the Passport of the candidate issued by the Government of India , showing Place of Birth in Kerala or of either of the parents of the candidate showing Place of Birth in Kerala with corroborative certificate to establish the relationship between the parent and the candidate. 5.1.2 Non-Keralites should furnish a copy of the Certificate of Nativity from the revenue authority or local body concerned. 5.1.3 If an applicant for admission is found to have indulged in ragging in the past or if it is noticed later that he/she had indulged in ragging, admissions shall be denied or he/she shall be expelled from the educational institution. 5.2 Academic Eligibility 5.2.1 a. Candidates should have passed the corresponding Degree examination under the 10+2+3 pattern with Core Course and Complementary Course/with one main subject and two subsidiary subjects from any of the Universities in Kerala or of any other University recognized by the University of Kerala as equivalent thereto for admission, subject to the stipulation regarding grade/marks. b. Double or Triple main candidates or candidates who have passed the Degree Examination in Vocational or Specialized Courses are also eligible for admission. However, they have to submit a copy of the Equivalency and Eligibility certificate from the University of Kerala, stating that, their qualifying examination is recognized for seeking admission to the relevant PG Degree programme as applicable, at the time of admission.

Instructions For Online Registration: Candidates are advised to read the instructions carefully before registration. After reading the instructions click the "Proceed" Button. Do not press BACK BUTTON during Registration. 7.4 STEPS FOR THE ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS ( 1 To 8 ). Step 1: Payment Two type of Payment method are available. i. Online Mode: The payment can be made either using Net Banking, Debit Card or Credit Card. After the successful online payment, it automatically redirect to the next step for the online registration process. ii. Offline Mode: The payment can also be made using a chalan. You can remit the fees in any of the SBI branches. After remitting the registration fee the user should login again with the Application number and Password. After login, the candidates are directed to a page for entering the registration fee remittance details. After entering all the required fields, the candidates should click on 'Proceed' button. Step 2: Candidate profile Registration Candidate should enter the personal details here. Fields marked with * are mandatory. i. Name (As in the certificate of the qualifying examination). ii. Date of Birth (dd/mm/yyyy format). iii. Gender (Choose Male, Female or Transgender). iv . Keralite : Whether Keralite or not ? (See prospectus clause 5.3) v. Nationality : Whether Indian or not ? vi. Land Phone: Enter Land Phone Number with STD Code. vii. Contact Mobile No: Enter Mobile Number. viii. Email : Enter Email id. ix . Address : The candidate has to provide the permanent address for communication. Providing Mobile Number, Land Phone Number and Email-Id, would enable the candidate for proper communication. (For Emails check Spam folder also). x. Religion : Select your religion. xi . Caste : Select caste. xi (a) . Creamy Layer : Select the Creamy layer/Non Creamy layer. If the candidate chooses Non Creamy layer, he/she has to submit certificates to support the claim at the time of admission. This is only for SEBC Candidates. xii . Category : Select Communal reservation category. xiii Allotment Category: Select Allotment category. xiv. OEC: It mentions to claim OEC candidates only. If the candidate choose YES, he/she has to submit certificates to support the claim. xvii. Special Reservation : Candidate can claim Special Reservation if he/she has any weightage for NCC, NSS or Kalathilakam/ Kalaprathiba of University of Kerala. Documents should be available with candidate to support the claim. xviii. Reservation for Nominees : (See Clause 3.1.1 in prospectus) xix . Are you interested to apply in Self Financing colleges & UIT : If the candidate mentions 'YES', he/she can apply for admission in Self Financing Colleges & UITs in addition to Government and Aided colleges. If the candidate mentions 'NO', he/she can apply for admission in Government and Aided colleges only. xx . Have you won any sports competitions? : The candidate can select 'YES' if he/she has won in sports competitions at District/State/National/International level and also mention the sports item. After filling this profile, the candidate can continue registration by clicking the button "Save and Continue" . It directs the candidate to “Academic Profile Registration” page. Step 3: Academic Profile Registration. Enter details of marks obtained by the candidate in the qualifying examination. i. Select the University: Select the name of university from the list (University of Kerala, Cochin University Science and Technology, University, , Mahatma Gandhi University). If the name of the University is not listed, then select ' Other ’; and enter the name of university. ii. Select the Degree Programme : Select the Degree Programme from the list (BA/B.Sc/B.Com etc). iii. Specialization : Specialization such as English, Physics, Commerce etc. iv. Number of Appearances : The number of chances availed by the candidate to complete the qualifying examination. v. Year of Passing : Select the year of passing of qualifying examination. vi. Examination Register Number : The Register number of qualifying examination. (ie, Degree Level) vii. Mark Details : Choose appropriate Mark System. If the candidate has studied under Grade system in any other University other than University of Kerala , it is his /her responsibility to convert his/her grades into marks by following the directions from his/her University and produce the valid documents at the time of admission. He/She should specify the additional qualifications, he/she is having from the list given.

Step 4: Upload photo and Signature:

After uploading the photo and signature, click "Continue" button for further registration. Step 5: Add and Change Options. Candidates can select options of their choice. Options should be given very carefully. Here student can select Course and college of their choice and click "Add Option" button to confirm it. A student can select up to a maximum of 20 options in courses and colleges they wish to join. The steps involved in registering of options are summarized below: a. Choose the stream (MA/ MSc/ M Com.) b. Choose the programme (Sociology, Zoology, etc.) c. Select the College, where the chosen programme is offered. d. Click the button ‘Add Option’. The college which is selected first will be the ‘first option’ of the candidate for that Programme. e. The Programme and college will be displayed below. A candidate can register all the available options by repeating the steps given above, if he/she desires so. However, it is not compulsory that he/she should exercise all the options. The candidate is advised to give option to colleges / courses depending upon his/her interest. The preference numbers along with the selected options shows the priority of options. So candidate must be very careful in prioritizing their options. The steps involved in changing the preference of options are summarized below. a. Select the option to be changed. b. Suppose the candidate wants to change preference to a higher one (eg:-option with preference no.3 need to be changed to the one with preference no 2), click the row with the option to be moved, click Up arrow ( ) once, so that it will be changed accordingly. By clicking the down arrow ( ), the candidate can bring the preference to a lower one. If option 5 is to be brought to 2, the up arrow has to be clicked thrice. Existing option can be deleted by clicking the ( ) button link. c. DO NOT FORGET to click the button 'Save & Refresh Options' to finalize selected options. If any alteration is made in the selected option list, DO NOT FORGET to click 'Save & Refresh Options ' button. After adding all the options click “ Preview and Verify Completed Application ” button for further registration. Step 6: VERIFY THE APPLICATION The candidate can verify/edit the submitted application before taking the print out of the completed application form. After clicking the 'Print Completed Application ' button, no changes can be made in the submitted application form. Step 7: Print out of completed application form

Click the 'Print Completed Application ' button to take the print out of the completed application form. The Registration process is completed only after taking the print out of the completed application form. Those candidate who have not taken the print out of the completed application form will not be considered for the admission. Candidates are instructed to submit their application online within the time schedule specified, through the admission portal. DO NOT SEND HARD COPIES TO THE UNIVERSITY. The hard copy of the online application with supporting documents should be kept by the candidate and it has to be submitted at the time of admission in the respective college. THE CANDIDATE WHO HAS NOT TAKEN THE PRINTOUT OF THE APPLICATION FORM, WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR ADMISSION AND THIS ONLINE APPLICATION WILL BE REJECTED WITHOUT ANY NOTIFICATION .

7.5 Updating the information and options already given online: A candidate can edit some of the information given at the time of registration, by entering the Home Page using his/her application number, and password (Date of Birth given as default password) as per the following procedure: a. Go to the website http://admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in and enter the application number and Date of Birth which is given as password in the ‘Applicant Login’ section. (Date of Birth is in the format dd/mm/yyyy). It is advised to change the password immediately using the link “PASSWORD” to prevent any type of intrusion by an unauthorized person. The candidate should note down the password and application number. b. A valid applicant will be directed to his/her home page with a group of navigation links ( My Home, Index Mark, Edit Profile, Completed Profile, Password and Logout ). In the link ‘ My Home ’ the applicant can view the status of the application. Click the ‘ Preview & Print Completed Application ’ button to view / print the application. c. For updating the personal profile, the candidate has to go to the ‘ Personal Profile ’ link where he/she can edit some of the information given at the time of online registration. d. The link ‘ My Options ’ is provided for the candidate to add/delete/change the preference of the Options. e. If the candidate wishes to change the existing password, he/she can use the link ‘ Password’ . f. After making all the changes, the candidate can take the latest printout from ‘ Completed Profile’ page. g. The candidate is advised to use the ‘ Logout’ link at the time of exit from his/her Home Page. Note: The candidate NEED NOT SUBMIT the print out of the online application and other documents to the University. A copy of the printout of the application has to be retained by the Candidate. The print out and the original of all certificates shall be produced before the Principal at the time of reporting for admission.

8 ONLINE CENTRALIZED ALLOTMENT PROCESS 8.1 Trial Allotment : A trial allotment will be conducted to give an idea about the chances of getting allotment to a Programme and college, based on the options registered and the rank of the candidate. The trial allotment does not guarantee admission in a College or a Programme. 8.2 First Allotment: After the trial allotment and the period earmarked for revising options, the first allotment list will be published in the website http://admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in on the date to be notified. The allotment list will show the personal details, the college and the Programme to which the candidate is allotted to and the fee to be remitted. The candidate has to download the allotment memo from the above website after entering details of the fee remittance, which has to be produced before the Principal at the time of admission. For online payments, the candidate has to produce online payment receipt at the time of admission. The Memo will be available only after the second allotment. The candidates who get allotment have to remit the University fee as per the procedure mentioned in Clause 8.3 and ensure their admission, and those who fail to remit the fee in time will not be considered for further allotment. The candidates will have to follow the notification of the University with regard to the date of admission in the college concerned. 8.3 Remitting Fee 8.3.1 The fee due to the University for the Programme will have to be remitted either in online mode or in any branch of State Bank of India using the special Chalan available in the ‘Allotment’ page of valid applicant’s homepage in the website (http://admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in .) If the fee is been remitted in a bank, the candidate has to log in using their application number and password and update the chalan details. The original pay-in-slip from the bank should be produced in the college at the time of admission. The candidate without the original pay-in-slip will not be allowed to join the college. The candidates should keep the original pay-in-slip after verification by the college staff. It will be required for further allotment, if any. After remitting the fees, the candidate has to re login and give the fee details to confirm his/her admission. For online payments, the candidate has to only keep online payment receipt to be later produced at the time of admission. Note: The University fee once remitted will not be refunded. 8.3.2 Candidates SHALL NOT remit the fee in any other form like Demand Draft, Cheque etc. 8.3.3 Those candidates, who do not remit the fee on or before the date specified and in the specified method vide Clause 8.3.1 and not entered the remittance details, will lose their current allotment as well as the eligibility for further allotments. 8.3.4. SC/ST/OEC candidates, who get allotment, shall remit an amount of Rs. 100 /- as described under Clause 8.3.1. Fee remitted by way of Demand Draft/Cheque/etc. will not be accepted under any circumstances. 8.3.4 Cancellation/Activation of options after the first allotment: Candidates who remit the fee as per the first allotment within the prescribed time limit will have the facility to

cancel/activate their higher options before the second allotment during a specified period which will be notified. 8.3.5 After the first allotment, the options below the ‘allotted one’ of the candidate will automatically be removed from the option list of the candidate. For example, if a candidate had registered 20 options in all, and if he/she is allotted in his/her 10th option, all options from 11 to 20 will be automatically removed from the option list. Options from 1 to 9 will remain valid and will be considered for future allotments. He/she may cancel/activate any options among the remaining options as per his/her desire. But the candidate will not be permitted to register any fresh options to the existing ones. 8.3.6 Existing options registered by the candidate, available in the Home Page, can be cancelled one by one by clicking the “ CANCEL ” button shown against each option. Option once cancelled can be activated again using “ACTIVATE” button, within a specified time period. 8.3.7 If a candidate is satisfied with an allotment and does not want to be considered again for further allotment(s), he/she must cancel all the remaining higher options. A candidate retaining all or any of his/her higher options after an allotment, is bound to accept the new allotment, if any, failing which, he/she will lose the existing allotment as well as the new allotment; moreover he/she will not be considered for any further allotments. 8.3.8 The facility for cancellation/activation of options will be available during the notified period only.

8.4 Second/Further Allotment and Remittance of Fee : The second/further allotment list will be published on the date which will be notified later. A candidate who gets an allotment at any stage will have to remit the prescribed fee for the course allotted, through the method specified in Clause 8.3.1. The candidates need to remit the fee due to the University only once during this process of allotment which would confirm their seat in any of the colleges as per their preference and eligibility. Note: The date of reporting to the college concerned for taking admission will be notified in due course. 8.5 Downloading Allotment memo : After remitting University fee for the prescribed Programme, candidates can Login to their homepage using their application number and password for downloading the memo after the second allotment. Using the link ‘ Allotment’ , the applicant can view his/her allotment details. After remitting the University fee for prescribed Programme, the student can download allotment memo which has to be produced before the Principal at the time of admission. 8.6 Those candidates who do not remit the fee on or before the date specified and in the specified method vide Clause 8.3.1 and enter the details in the Website will lose their current allotment as well as the eligibility for further allotments. 8.7 Post Allotment Activities :

Reporting at the College : Candidates who get allotment will have to report before the Principal/Head of the College/Institution concerned for admission on the dates notified, with the following documents: a) Print out of completed online application generated by the Candidate. b) Fee receipt (Original copy) towards Registration fee. c) Allotment Memo (Latest). d) Original mark list of the qualifying examination and Provisional /Degree certificates. e) Fee Receipt (Original Copy) towards special fee, affiliation fee, matriculation, recognition, eligibility fee f) Certificate to prove date of birth. g) TC from the Institution last attended. h) Course & Conduct Certificate. i) Original Community Certificate/BPL Certificate. j). Non-Creamy Layer Certificate for SEBC candidates. Income certificate for OEC candidates. k) Original certificates to prove the claim for grace marks, if any. l) Eligibility certificate from University of Kerala in case of candidates who have passed the Qualifying Examination from other Universities. m) Migration certificate, if applicable.

8.8 Fees other than the one already paid vide Clause 8.3.1, as applicable to the course /institution, will have to be remitted by the candidate at the time of taking admission in the college. 8.9 Verification of Documents : The Principal/Head of the Institution shall be personally responsible for verification and satisfaction of the correctness of the records produced by the candidate at the time of admission in the College/Institution. The candidates should fulfil the eligibility criteria at the time of online registration and all relevant documents shall be submitted at the respective colleges during the time of admission. The Principal/ Head of the Institution will have the right to deny an allotment/admission if he/ she find any relevant mismatch in the original documents and online data that has affected the allotment process.

8.10 Failure to report for Admission: Candidates who do not take admission on the prescribed date and time in the allotted college will lose their admission. They will not be considered for further allotments.

8.11 Cancellation of Higher Options after joining a college: Candidates who join the college on the date specified can cancel their remaining options fully or partially or change the priority of their remaining options before the date specified as per the procedure speci fied in Clause 8.3. A candidate, not interested in any further allotments, must cancel all his/her higher options before

the specified date, failing which, the options will remain live and will be considered for further allotments, if any. All candidates securing admission to the PG programmes should compulsorily remit the University fees in any branch of SBI by downloading the admission fee chalan .

9. SEAT ALLOTMENT PROTOCOL

9.1 Admission & Allotment in Colleges : Allotment of seats in all colleges will be college/ institution wise. 9.2 Allotment in Colleges to Candidates with multiple Claims under Mandatory Quota : All candidates included in the Rank Lists are eligible for allotment under State Merit (SM). Candidates might be entitled for other reservation quotas also under Mandatory Reservation. For example, a candidate may have the benefit of SEBC reservation (EZ/MU/BH/LC/BX) or Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) claim. The seats will be offered on the hierarchy of quotas.

The hierarchy in order is as follows: (i) State Merit (SM) - All candidates included in the Rank Lists are eligible for allotment under State Merit.

(ii) Communal Reservation (SEBC/SC/ST) - A candidate without SEBC/SC/ST reservation benefit will be considered only against the “State Merit" seats wherever available at the time of allotment. Such

candidates will be allotted a seat as per the availability of seats. 9.3 Allotments under reservations for persons with disabilities : Candidates may be eligible for reservation benefits under “Persons with Disabilities” in Govt. and Aided Colleges. Such allotments will be made to the colleges where the seats have been identified. 10 . Fee to be paid to the University on allotment 10.1 On securing admission, the below mentioned University fee has to be remitted by the Candidates in any branch of State Bank of India using the special chalan of University of Kerala which is available in the ‘Allotment Details’ page of valid applicant’s homepage in the website (http://admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in). The original pay-in-slip (University’s Copy) from the bank should be produced in the college at the time of admission. The candidate who fails to produce the original pay-in-slip will not be allowed to join the college. The candidates should keep the original pay-in-slip after verification in the college. It will be required for further allotment, if any.

U.O No. M&C 2.1393/2008 dated 24-10-2008 (To be remitted only at the time of admission to the Programme and remitted to the KUF in full). SC/ST/OEC students should remit a token amount of Rs 100/- to assure their allotment/ admission. Premium for Medical cum Accident Insurance Policy (for first year) Rs.240/- is also collected along with the token amount, at the time of admission.(UO NO. Ad DI/DSS 2017 dated 07/06/2017).

10.2 Candidates belonging to SC /ST communities allotted against merit seats or against the seats reserved for them are exempted from payment of fee. Candidates belonging to OEC admitted against merit seats or against the un-availed seats of SC/ST are exempted from payment of fee (As per G.O.(M S) No.14/2005/SCSTDD dated 5.4.2005 & G.O.(MS) No.36/07/SCSTDD dated 03.07.2007). Candidates belonging to OEC who were admitted to Government seats through SEBC reservation are also exempted from payment of fee (As per G.O.(MS) No. 50/2006/SCSTDD dated 22.09.2006).

10.3 Claim for fee concession to OEC candidates: Candidates belonging to Other Eligible Communities (OEC) are exempted from payment of fee at the time of allotment to Post Graduate Courses under Government/Community quota irrespective of annual family income as per G.O. (MS) No. 36/07/SCSTDD, dated: 03.07.2007. They should provide Community Certificate from the Village Officer along with the acknowledgement.

10. 4 SC/ST/OEC candidates will have to pay the “Caution Deposit” as per rules.

11. Payment of Fee: The fee for a course allotted to the candidate will have to be paid in the prescribed method only (Refer Clause 8.3.1) within the stipulated time. If a candidate is moved to another course in a subsequent allotment, he/she need not remit the University fee again. Candidates getting fresh allotment will have to remit the fees applicable as per the procedure given in clause 8.3.1. 12. OTHER ITEMS 12.1 The whole process of allotment to the PG Degree Courses 2017-18 will be done by the University of Kerala.

12.2 The University of Kerala will not entertain any request for change of any date fixed in the Centralized Allotment Process/Admission, from time to time. 12.3 All disputes pertaining to the allotment for admission shall fall within the jurisdiction of the Hon'ble High Court of Kerala. 12.4 Any other items not specifically covered in this Prospectus will be decided by the University of Kerala and the decision shall be final.
