MALAKOFF ORGANISES PLOGGING TO CLEAN-UP TELUK SENANGIN Hundreds participate in the unique running event to encourage environmental conservation Teluk Senangin, Perak, 30 SeptemBer 2018 – Malakoff Corporation Berhad (“Malakoff”), a member of MMC Group, in collaboration with Majlis Perbandaran Manjung (“MPM”) organised “Jom Plogging Bersama Komuniti 2018” today that took place at Teluk Senangin, Manjung, Perak. Plogging, a combination of Swedish word “plocka upp” which means “pick up” and “jogging”, aims to increase awareness on environment conservation, cleanliness and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Plogging is Malakoff’s latest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to show its commitment to the community where it operates. Around 300 participants took part in the activity, which involves cleaning-up while jogging for 4km along the shores and within the villages in Teluk Senangin. The participants, which included Malakoff staff, school children, representatives from local authorities and members of the local community were seen running while picking- up litter around the area, and placing them into biodegradable plastic bags, before continuing the run. Approximately two tonnes of rubbish were collected by all participants, which were then sorted out into the bins for plastic, glass and paper. Teluk Senangin is located in the district of Manjung, where Malakoff also owns and operates its 1,943 MW Lumut Power Plant. Speaking about the event, Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali, CEO of Malakoff said, “at Malakoff, we are committed to the environment especially in the areas where we Page 1 of 3 operate. It is hoped that this event will increase the public’s awareness on environmental conservation, especially at Teluk Senangin and its surrounding areas.” En Abdul Razak Nazri, Special Officer to Lumut Member of Parliament, who represented YB Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli, Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development, said that “the clean environment will boost Teluk Senangin as one of Perak’s tourist attractions and subsequently provide social and economic benefits to its local community. He also thanked Malakoff and MPM for organising the event.
