5 April 2014 MH370 PRESS BRIEFING by HISHAMMUDDIN HUSSEIN, MINISTER of DEFENCE and ACTING MINISTER of TRANSPORT 1. Introduction
5 April 2014 MH370 PRESS BRIEFING BY HISHAMMUDDIN HUSSEIN, MINISTER OF DEFENCE AND ACTING MINISTER OF TRANSPORT 1. Introduction It’s been almost a month since MH370 went missing. The search operation has been difficult, challenging and complex. In spite of all this, our determination remains undiminished. We will continue the search with the same level of vigour and intensity. We owe this to the families of those on board, and to the wider world. We will continue to focus, with all our efforts, on finding the aircraft. 2. Investigation into MH370 As per the requirements set out by the ICAO in Annex 13 of the International Standards and Recommended Practices, Malaysia will continue to lead the investigation into MH370. As per the ICAO standards, Malaysia will also appoint an independent ‘Investigator In Charge’ to lead an investigation team. The investigation team will include three groups: an airworthiness group, to look at issues such as maintenance records, structures and systems; an operations group, to examine things such as flight recorders, operations and meteorology; and a medical and human factors group, to investigate issues such as psychology, pathology and survival factors. The investigation team will also include accredited countries. Malaysia has already asked Australia to be accredited to the investigation team, and they have accepted. We will also include China, the United States, the United Kingdom and France as accredited representatives to the investigation team, along with other countries that we feel are in a position to help. 3. Formation of committees In addition to the new investigation team mentioned above, the Government - in order to streamline and strengthen our on-going efforts - has established three ministerial committees. -
Remarks by the Honorable Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar
By : DATUK SERI SYED HAMID ALBAR Venue : PUTRAJAYA Date : 22 APRIL 2004 Title : REMARKS AT THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE OIC ON THE MIDDLE EAST The Honorable Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Prime Minister of Malaysia H.E. Dr Abdelouahed Belkeziz, Secretary General of OIC Excellencies Ladies and Gentlemen Assalamu'alaikum Warahmatullahhibarokatuh, I would like to thank The Honorable Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Prime Minister of Malaysia today for his presence at this Special Meeting. I also thank delegates from other countries for their attendance. I know we have given very short notice but your attendance shows the importance and relevancy for this meeting to be held. As Chairman of the 10th OIC summit, Malaysia feels duty bound to call for this meeting amidst the problems and crisis facing the Muslim world and the Ummah. We witness the continued violence in the Middle East, be it in Palestine or Iraq and we also witness the arrogance of power and total disregard for international law and the multilateral process. In other words, we are facing all kinds of pressures in our intention of giving credibility and integrity to the Islamic Ummah. What is obvious is that there is a need for unity and cohesion amongst the Muslims if they want to be counted in the global affairs. Failing to do this would mean that we would continue to be sidelined, marginalized and deprived in making decisions for our own future. Others will instead make it for us. Finally, it is in this context that Malaysia has called for this special Meeting, hoping that in the spirit of brotherhood and unity, we will be able to sit down together to look at ourselves and chart our plans. -
All Running Smoothly for BN to Retain Kota Belud Malaysiakini.Com May 2, 2013 by Aidila Razak
All running smoothly for BN to retain Kota Belud MalaysiaKini.com May 2, 2013 By Aidila Razak SABAH Nordin Kanuh's eldest child just finished secondary school but the self-employed man cannot afford to send him to university. "We don't have the money, so I told him to enrol in Form Six first," Nordin, a 45-year-old father of three, said. NONEHe is probably among parents whom Pakatan Rakyat are targeting in its promise to make tertiary education free for all Malaysians. However, this promise is not winning him over. For Nordin (right), who lives in Kampung Kinasaraban in Kota Belud, some 60km from Kota Kinabalu, other concerns, such as running water, are more pressing. "The BN government had just started a project so that we can get running water... "If the opposition party wins in my area, then I believe the project will be stopped. How much longer will we then have to wait for running water?" he asked. Nordin will vote in the state constituency of Kadamaian, one of three in the parliamentary seats under Kota Belud where Sabah BN secretary and incumbent Abdul Rahman Dahlan is taking on four others, including PKR greenhorn Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis. NONEIn Kota Belud town on Labour Day to attend the Kaamatan or harvest festival, he said he hopes the people in Kadamaian would think the same way as he does. "But I don't know. The opposition is getting stronger there. Everywhere in Kadamaian I keep hearing ‘Ini Kalilah', but I am ‘Tatap'," he said, referring to the BN campaign slogan ‘Tatap BN'. -
Zahid Says Cops Foiled Isis Plot to Kidnap Najib Malaysian Insider March 8, 2016 by Muzliza Mustafa
Zahid says cops foiled Isis plot to kidnap Najib Malaysian Insider March 8, 2016 By Muzliza Mustafa Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today said the Isis militant group was planning to kidnap him as well as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein. But the home minister said the police's anti-terrorism unit foiled the attempt, as well as plots to create chaos in Kedah, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. "Although there is no proper Daesh (Isis) establishment in the country, those who were here were being influenced and have been receiving orders from the network in Syria. "We detected plans to attack several locations in Kedah, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, attempt to rob of firearms from army camps, making of explosions, robbing cash-in-transit vans as well as plot to kidnap the country's leaders for ransom," he said. Zahid said Putrajaya took several measures to counter Isis, including sharing information with Asean counterparts on identifying terrorist suspects, among other forms of cooperation. "Police have also done their part by monitoring and tracking these suspects and forwarded details to the Immigration Department to be blacklisted or blocked from entering the country. "We are also going to implement the Advanced Passengers Screening System (APPS) for early detection of suspected foreign nationals coming into the country," he said. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), he added, was also roped in to monitor the militant group's propaganda on the social media. He said this in a reply to Abdul Manan Ismail (BN-Paya Besar) who asked the Home Ministry to state the success of police in preventing terrorist attacks planned by Isis in the country. -

Oath of Secrecy Will Ensure Information Confidentiality - PAC Members Bernama Oct 26, 2015
Oath Of Secrecy Will Ensure Information Confidentiality - PAC Members Bernama Oct 26, 2015 KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- Newly-appointed Public Accounts Committee (PAC) member Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan agreed that members should be obliged to take the oath of secrecy in regard to their responsibility. The Kota Bharu Member of Parliament said it was to ensure that every confidential information stays and remain secret within the committee. "I agree that PAC members should take the oath of secrecy but it doesn't mean that they cannot speak out at all," he said at the Dewan Rakyat lobby Monday. On Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi proposed that PAC members take the oath of secrecy to safeguard information and documents on investigations conducted by the committee. Five MPs were appointed as PAC members with Rompin MP Datuk Hasan Ariffin as chairman. PAS chose Takiyuddin to represent it in the committee, replacing Tumpat MP Datuk Kamaruddin Jaffar who joined Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) last month. The other four new members are Barisan Nasional MPs Datuk Marcus Mojigoh (Putatan), Datuk Wira Ahmad Hamzah (Jasin), Datuk Nawawi Ahmad (Langkawi) and Datuk Koh Nai Kwong (Alor Gajah). Meanwhile, Nawawi was of the view that it was not proper for PAC members to issue statements. "If a statement needs to be made, it should be the chairman who should do it," he said, agreeing to the oath proposal. Ahmad Hamzah said PAC members could reinforce their integrity by taking the oath of secrecy. -- BERNAMA Copyright © 2015 BERNAMA http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v8/newsindex.php?id=1183517 .
