PAS Risks Internal Split If It Rejoins BN Malaysiakini.Com July 30, 2014
PAS risks internal split if it rejoins BN MalaysiaKini.com July 30, 2014 YOURSAY 'But once Pakatan breaks in S'gor, it will break nationally.' Leaked PAS message: Team up with Umno in S'gor Quigonbond: A question that must be asked is why PAS is back-paddling on the idea of welfare state instead of hudud. Do they seriously think they can work with a corrupt BN? Whither ideas of justice and fairness in PAS? Why have they suddenly turned into racial-religious bigots? Is it because they did not win as much as they liked in GE13? But don't they realise that even if they join BN, they will still fight over the same pie with Umno? Or is this strictly over Selangor? Even if it is strictly Selangor, they should realise that once Pakatan Rakyat breaks in Selangor, it will break nationally. One's faith is inextricably tied to the other. Perhaps PAS is looking for a breakup. But then the challenge will be how the Erdogans can break the political stranglehold of the conservatives in the party and from there break into the rural hearts and minds in Peninsular Malaysia. They don't have much traction in Sabah and Sarawak - that remains the gauntlet for DAP and PKR. Malaccan: PAS research centre operations director Dr Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki has as good as admitted himself to have no honour nor integrity. He sickeningly explains his bigoted and extremist views about non-Muslims by claiming it was an analysis, and uses distraction in his Umno-like defence. -

His analysis confirms the work of Gurr and others that greater access to education sharpens people’s awareness that they are not getting a fair share of the pie. Tadjoeddin also argues that the post-Suharto process of democratization and decentralization has served to correct previous grievances about use of govern- ment revenues, especially from natural resources, but more needs to be done to ensure improvements in living standards for the average citizen. He points out that both inequality and demographic change are issues which still need attention. Tadjoeddin has written a careful analytical study of conflict and cooperation in Indonesia over the past two decades, which all social scientists with an interest in the country will benefit from reading. -
PAS Dilemmas in the Era of Abdul Hadi Awang
PAS Dilemmas in the Era of Abdul Hadi Awang Saiyid Radzuwan Syed Sopi and Faridah Jaafar Political Science Section, School of Distance Education, Universiti Sains Malaysia, 11800, Penang Keywords: organization, mainstreamer, reformist, ulama and politicians Abstract: The objective of this research is to identify what will happen to the PAS organization when the result of 61st Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) muktamar (general assembly) in Kuala Selangor, June 6, 2015 revealed that the PAS leadership has been dominated by ulama leaders, labelled ‘traditionalist’ or ‘purist’ and the ‘mainstreamer’ or ‘reformist’ had to admit that they have lost their positions in the party. The focus of this research is to identify that when Abdul Hadi Awang, the PAS president, had successfully purged the reformist from being a part of the party members, he and his factions had made an unpredictable action to withdraw from multi-ethnic opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in June 16, 2015. As a result, PR was dissolved and the rift worsened after the PAS leadership was captured by conservatives and the party accepted a motion by its conservative ulama (clerics) wing to sever ties with the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and People Justice Party (PKR). Hadi realized that it is near impossible for PAS to be in power on the national level without assistance from the opposition parties. However, this research found that although Hadi was a veteran politician, he asserts that his ideology, political thought and his ways of solving political problems are against with PH. Hadi was categorized as an arrogant who always disagrees with his colleagues, lacks of coalition spirit, and always makes a controversial statement towards PH. -

The above assumption, and its many consequent analyses of a rising, perhaps even threatening, ‘political Islam’ seemed justified, if belatedly, by the results of the November 1999 general election. -

Croatia-Southeast Asia Business Advisory Network to Support Tech Development in Malaysia
Croatia-Southeast Asia Business Advisory Network to support tech development in Malaysia BERNAMA 22/02/2019 By Samantha Tan KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 (Bernama) – The establishment of Croatia-Southeast Asia Business Advisory Network would not only support technology development in Malaysia, but also help the country to achieve its ambition of becoming a developed nation. Functioning as a knowledge hub and business incubator, the advisory network focused on entrepreneurship, technology development and innovation. This is timely, as these factors are the key drivers transforming Malaysia. Croatian Ambassador to Malaysia Kreso Glavac said the advisory network, which focuses on businesses and people-to-people relations, would act as a framework to further boost collaboration between the two countries. “The objective is to help Croatian companies and people to provide information and know-hows, as well as connecting them with Southeast Asian countries,” he told Bernama after the 10-year anniversary celebration of Croatia’s participation at Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2019 here, Thursday. The event was officiated by Deputy Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Wira Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli. August last year, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had said that Malaysia can still become a fully developed nation but it might take a little longer than the original target of the year 2020. “Maybe we cannot achieve it by 2020, probably we can by 2025,” he was quoted as saying. The advisory network was created as a dynamic cooperation platform of private sector entities, governments and experts from Croatia and Southeast Asian region namely Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Brunei.
