Hexagonal table 2 in Walnut
The table base was originally designed to support a polished 1” thick Broughton Moor green stone top; however, when tests showed that the polished stone would be easily marked by very light impact, it was decided to use a solid English Walnut top - the boards for which were sawn to include part of the root bole of the tree - giving the distinctive figuring.

The oak Lecterns were intended to match the existing Victorian choristry, but also to be eas- ily moved. The design was thus based on a light structure, given the appearance of sub- stance by the use of edge cappings. The pierced gothic tracery and relief panels were based on the existing woodwork, and the edge mouldings, profiles and cappings were re- scaled from existing timber and stone mould- ings in the church

The Library was commissioned as part of the reconstruction of a Welsh country house. Waring & Woodfellows designed and built the library in consultation with the client, as well as supplying the solid oak boarding for the library floor. The units feature fully adjustable shelving on solid brass bookcase strips, the cupboard doors are glazed with toughened glass and the desk unit has a real hide writing area.

Cherry Storage Units
These units were designed to provide a space for music and video entertainment systems, as well as housing books. The units were made in native cherry, converted in house from the tree.

These units were commissioned for the consulting rooms of a leading paediatric heart specialist. The furniture was made in solid English walnut, milled and kiln dried at Waring & Woodfellows yard. During the conversion of the tree to boards, sev- eral musket balls were found embedded in the trunk.
10 Library Cases in Burr Oak
The curved doors and drawers in this study were designed to reflect the art deco influ- ence in other parts of this country house. The book-matched burr oak veneer on the door panels and the brass and ebony drop handles were produced in our own workshops.

Cedar Extension
This project was designed to provide a light, airy extension on the south side of a stone cot- tage. As the cottage was al- ready cut into the hillside, it was decided to build the main extension from the first floor, thus avoiding excavating further into the hill. Western Red Ce- dar was chosen for construction for its lightness and durability. Structural stability was achieved by using ‘box-beam’ construction for both walls and roof. Low environmental im- pact was realised by using lo- cally sourced and converted timber and by providing high levels of insulation using recy- cled cellulose wall, floor and roof infill. Windows and doors all carry toughened double glaz- ing units. Waring & Woodfel- lows designed, built and ob- tained planning consent and building regulations approval for the project.

Wes Waring founded Woodfellows at its present location in the Cambrian Mountains in mid-Wales, in 1978. Wes is the son of an engineer, grandson of a master carpenter and great-grandson of a woodcarver.
We do not offer a ‘product range’, neither do we manufacture to supply the retail furni- ture trade. Rather, we work to commission, designing and producing work in consulta- tion with our customer - a bespoke service.
