Your request has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act and is detailed below in italics with our response in bold. (Please note the extract below has been taken directly from your original information request and is unedited). Our Response The Freedom of Information Team have been provided with the following information in response to your recent request on behalf of Northamptonshire County Council (NCC). I would like to make a request for the following information regarding the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) and Academy programmes. 1) Which schools and academies in your area are either undergoing redevelopment as a result of the BSF and Academy programmes or will do in the future, listing which are confirmed to be going ahead either currently or in the future and which are awaiting a review before they can be confirmed. If all BSF/Academy developments in your area have been cancelled due to the spending cuts, then this is all I need to be informed of and you can disregard the following requested details. The former Ise Community College and Henry Gotch Primary School are undoing redevelopment as Kettering Science Academy. The former Montagu School, Avondale Infant School and Avondale Junior School are to under go redevelopment as Kettering Buccleuch Academy. The former Unity College is to have some refurbishment as Malcolm Arnold Academy. [email protected] 2) The start and completion dates for the building works on each school and academy, with attention paid to make sure that these are up-to-date as I understand that the estimated start and completion dates may well have changed since the BSF and Academy spending cuts in July/August. Kettering Science Academy started on site on 18th October 2010 the project completion date is 15th February 2013. Kettering Buccleuch Academy is anticipated to start on site on 9th May 2011 the project completion date is 23rd August 2013. Malcolm Arnold Academy is in the early stages of planning, however at present we anticipate a start on site towards the end of June 2011 with completion being December 2011. 3) The main building contractor and architect which you have awarded each school to. If this decision has not yet been made for certain schools, then the expected date when you plan to make your decision on this. The main building contractor for all of the academy projects will be Willmott Dixon Construction. The architects for Kettering Science Academy and Kettering Buccleuch Academy are Nicholas Hare Architects LLP. The architects for Malcolm Arnold Academy are Gotch Saunders and Surridge. SCHOOL PROPOSED CHANGES FOR 2020 INTAKES Abbeyfield School Bishop Stopford School All secondary schools in the Brooke Weston Trust (Brooke Weston Academy, Corby Business Academy, Corby Technical School, Kettering Science Academy) have proposed to make their waiting list criteria clearer, by using the following revised definition: From the 1st March until the 31st August of the offer year (the academic year before the academic year in which students are admitted into Year 7) children's position on the Year 7 waiting list will be determined solely in accordance with the oversubscription criteria. Where places become vacant they will be allocated, through a fresh round of random allocation, to children on the waiting list from the stanine that has become vacant and in accordance with the oversubscription criteria. If there is no-one on the waiting list from the stanine that has a vacancy the place will be filled by a child from a neighbouring stanine on an even basis (i.e. if the first child is from a stanine above then the next will be from the stanine below). Students who did not take the ability test will Brooke Weston Academy only be considered if there are places remaining once empty places have been offered to all those who did take the test. From the 1st September until the 31st December of the Year of entry in Year 7, late applicants (those who did not apply before the Local Authority’s closing date) and anyone else who did not sit the test will be randomly placed into the stanines on the waiting list, distributed evenly starting from stanine 5.

George has been integral to the growth and success of Challenge Partners in its first years and the organisation is an important part of his legacy of change and innovation in education over a long and distinguished career. I won’t be the only one to miss his wisdom and insight. We have been fortunate to attract Kate as our new CEO.

He is Chief Policy Adviser to Portland Communications, Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham’s Jubilee Centre for Character and Values, and a Visiting Fellow at Policy Exchange. James was the Director of Policy to Prime Minister David Cameron between 2010 and 2011, where he was responsible for co-authoring the Coalition’s Programme for Government and overseeing the implementation of the Government’s domestic policy programme.
