SPBILF MISSION

The central mission of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum is to promote ideas for the modernization of law in a fast-changing global environment.

The Forum strives to address urgent challenges along the following lines:

 creating better interfaces between legal systems and working to forge uniform approaches to worldwide challenges facing the advancement of law in a globalized world;  updating Russian law, drawing on international best practice in lawmaking and law enforcement;  adapting Russian law to international standards in protecting the lawful rights and interests of all parties in legal relationships;  promoting modern jurisprudence and legal training in and worldwide.

Since its debut in 2011, the SPBILF has emerged as a premier international platform for the sharing of ideas and opinions among top academics and practitioners, shaping new trends in the world of jurisprudence.

THE SPBILF PRIZE

The SPBILF established the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum Private Law Prize in 2017. The conferral of this truly global academic award is intended as a testimony of its winner’s ultimate academic excellence, while the cash prize component is meant to advance the realization of the laureate’s ideas of worldwide significance. The Expert Committee of the Prize consists of academics of worldwide renown — those who set the trends in modern legal science, those whose works have raised generations of modern lawyers. The privilege to nominate candidates for the Prize will be bestowed upon the world’s foremost universities, the leaders of the global academic rankings. We firmly believe that the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum Prize will become an internationally recognized benchmark of academic achievement in private law, while the implementation of the prize winners’ outstanding ideas will contribute to making this world a better, fairer place. The SPBILF is usually accompanied by a whole constellation of satellite events harmoniously integrated into the Forum’s fabric.
