Low literacy skills can affect all aspects of life. Research has shown that low literacy skills can lead to poverty, incarceration, and health issues. Unfortunately, this barrier to success is found in communities throughout Muskegon County. Although people can improve their literacy skills at any age, preparing children with necessary skills in reading, language, writing, and thinking will help to prepare them for success in school and beyond. Another exciting new early literacy initiative is our Muskegon Storyville which will open soon.
