Autocad proficiency is essential. The major projects team as part of Corporate Property are responsible for the delivery of all the Council’s major construction projects, including schools and nursery’s to enterprise and innovation centres. Working with approved frameworks we source professional design teams and construction companies to work with us in delivering the projects. Main Responsibilities: • Provide and manage departmental response to feasibility study requests. • Design and deliver SAI project requirements • To produce CAD detailed drawings as required • To be actively involved as requested on key project working groups, and to contribute to company initiatives in relation to team processes. • To receive SAI referrals and to report regularly to the SAI Panel. • To carry out site visits when required to assess viability of and provide option appraisals for SAI and other proposed property development needs. • To monitor site construction progress and resolve queries. About the job Working within the Major Projects Team as part of Corporate Property, this role will be responsible for providing feasibility study reports for future new-build projects, developing the cost and programme model, identifying site constraints, general design advice and managing small Somerset Access Initiative (SAI) works in accordance with the authority’s statutory responsibilities and quality assurance procedures. Some travel will be required for project assistance, site visits and over-seeing site works. Working alone to agreed deadlines is a key function of the role supported by colleagues within the team and the wider Corporate Property. About you Skills and Experience Required: • Experience in AutoCAD essential • Experience working within the design and management sector of the construction industry. • Minimum HND qualified but preferably to degree level within a construction discipline. • Ability to produce, read and understand architectural/construction drawings • Excellent inter-personal skills and be self-motivated.
