ALL THE QUEEN’S AGENTS & CORPORATIONS The Queen’s Prerogative English law prohibits questioning the Monarchy about their personal holdings and business. This is true of most of Europe’s royalty, whether enthroned or not. The wealth of the Monarchies is held outside of the countries that made the wealth. The British Crown’s offshore banks hold the greatest personal wealth in the world estimated at $35 trillion. Perhaps the British Crown still owns and controls its Commonwealth Nations, including the American “colonies.” Monarchies are not supposed to be warlord bankers who create conflict and chaos to turn a profit or destabilize an economy for personal gain. But they have been for some time now, and history is a string of immoral wars caused by monarchies, the Vatican and other religions. Untold millions have died while kings and popes lived on to grab the wealth through well-established institutions that were created to control the people of the Earth. The Commonwealth of Nations, headed by Queen Elizabeth II, is made up of 53 nations, spanning the globe, accounting for one-fifth of the land mass of the Earth, and a very high percentage of its strategic resources and population. The Queen is a Knight of Malta and has vowed allegiance to the Pope through the largest insider trading club on the planet. The British Crown Agents are, in fact, also agents of the Vatican’s Knights of Malta. The Queen is a Knight of Malta The Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM) took control of the power and wealth of the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon from within the Roman system. -

The PNGDF in Troubled Times 10 THE PNGDF IN TROUBLED TIMES* The Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) has been through difficult times in recent years. A gradual deterioration in standards of equipment, training and discipline, and its fail- ure to contain the rebellion on Bougainville which began in 1988, have severely lowered morale. The national government’s deci- sion in 1996-97 to employ foreign mercenaries in a covert opera- tion against the rebel leadership on Bougainville resulted in a ‘quasi-coup’, in which the PNGDF commander, Brigadier Gen- eral Jerry Singirok, intervened to terminate the contract with Sandline International and call for the resignation of the prime minister and two of his colleagues. The ‘Sandline Affair’ briefly pushed the Defence Force into the centre stage of Papua New Guinea politics, but Singirok was sacked and currently faces a charge of sedition. The affair has left a legacy of division and mistrust within the Force. The reappointment of General Singirok in late 1998, under a new government, in the context of substantial improvement in the prospects for peace on Bougainville, has raised hopes in some quarters that the PNGDF is about to address the problems of discipline, capability and conditions, and restore its tarnished image as a professional force. But the events of 1997 have left deep scars within the Force and there are concerns that, having been increasingly politicised since the 1980s, the PNGDF may not have completely withdrawn to the barracks. * This paper was initially written for The Asia-Pacific Magazine in 1997, shortly before the magazine ceased publication. -

Abstract 350 words maximum: (PLEASE TYPE) Australian First World War historiography tends to focus on the ordinary soldier: his background, character and involvement in the war. This is a legacy left by Charles Bean who, following the history from below approach, believed in the need for soldiers’ stories to be told. On the other end of the spectrum, attention is given to political leaders and the British high command. British commanders and, by extension, other Allied commanders are too often portrayed as poor leaders who were reluctant to adapt to modern warfare, and did not demonstrate a sense of responsibility for the men under their command. The evidence shows that this perception is not accurate. A comprehensive understanding of the progression of Australian forces on the Western Front cannot be gained without investigating the progression of those in command. This thesis examines the brigade commanders of the Australian Imperial Force who held that level of command for a substantial period while on the Western Front. -

Eighteenth Session, Commencing at 2.30 pm ORDERS, DECORATIONS & MEDALS CHRISTOPHER STOYLES COLLECTION Christopher Stoyles was born in Sydney in 1933 into a military family which moved to Melbourne when he was 4 years old. He lived in Kew and was educated at Scotch College. His interest in history started when visitors to the house would bring a souvenir for the boys which Chris found fascinating. This interest stayed with him for the rest of his life and started him on a lifetime of collecting militaria. His Mother was a keen collector of Crown Derby China and Chris would always peer into the local antique shop and rush back to her if there was anything of interest. This is where he bought his fi rst Pickelhaube at about the age of 10. Antique shops had always fascinated him and he would fi nd 4679* something hidden under a table in the back corner. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Offi cer (OBE type 1) (Military), hallmarked for London 1919, maker His medal collection started with his Father’s own medals SG (Garrard & Co Ltd - Sebastian Garrard). Unnamed as from WW1 and WW2, followed by his two brother-in-laws' issued. Lacquered, otherwise good very fi ne. medals from WW2. Chris spent 20 years in the Australian $100 Army Reserve and this only strengthened his interest in militaria. He made many friends through his collecting here and on trips overseas to the United Kingdom and Europe. Chris died on 3rd August 2016 after a long illness, however he continued to enjoy his collection until then. -

The company would not disclose the terms of the transfer, saying negotiations are still underway but it says it would not play any further part in the operation of the mine. The mine has not operated since early April after flooding put it out of action. Earlier this month, the company laid off hundreds of local workers. 2 Editorial Never repeat such destruction The National, 29th of August, 2014 ENVIRONMENT and Conservation Minister John Pundari’s comments earlier this week that Papua New Guinea’s longest river, the Fly, in Western, is so badly polluted that it is ‘gone’ is, although an apt description, not a startling revelation. It is common knowledge that the activities of one of the country’s largest mines, Ok Tedi, in the province’s North Fly district, are solely responsible for the state of the Fly. -

Australian infantrymen were superior because Australia was a frontier nation whose people possessed independent initiative, resourcefulness, and moral and physical courage. These qualities were transferred straight into the Australian Imperial Force (AIF). This thesis makes a critical examination of the myth. It details how Australian infantry on the Western Front developed into a highly disciplined and professional element of the wider British Army in the period from 1916-1918. This occurred through standardised training and tactics, hard earned operational experience, and with technically enabled mastery. After Gallipoli, Australia was a relative latecomer to Europe, and arrived in mid-1916. The force experienced comparable losses to the British Army on the Somme, becoming a benefactor of the British learning process. Contrary to the Anzac myth, the five Australian divisions on the Western Front only realised their potential in 1918 when they were amalgamated into a corps. In this thesis, Chapter 1 provides a historiography of the Australian infantry's experience on the Western Front in comparison to a similar sized formation, the Canadian Corps. -

Introduction When an advance party from the New Zealand Defence Force arrived on the island of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea in late November, 1997, it might have been assumed that this fell into the pattern of contribution to peace-keeping New Zealand has followed since the end of the Cold war and before that to UN operations. New Zealanders had become used to the participation of New Zealand troops in such activities. However, the Bougainville operation, and the developments which preceded it, had the potential to affect New Zealand far more profoundly than other peace-keeping efforts.
