Susan Woodford Kirk is in the hospital recovering from a heart attack. Her sister, Venus Woodford, said she is doing better and expected to be released from the hospital is a few days. You can send a get-well greeting to Susan at her home, 3706 DeCamp St., Indianapolis, 46226. Louis Haynes is in Community East Hospital. Louis, who is 91, had planned on going into an assisted living community, but the pandemic interfered with that plan. He is recovering from heart and other conditions. Lori Smalls-Fowler remains under the doctor’s care after becoming ill last week. Please pray for her full recovery. Andrew McClasky was released recently from VA Hospital and is expected to begin rehab. Please keep Brother Andrew lifted up in prayer as he recovers from illness. Church Secretary and Scott News Editor Eunice Trotter will be out of the office March 21-April 5th. The office will be staffed by Renita Cook during regular hours Tuesday-Thursday.

Church Food Pantry Now Empty

With a very successful food giveaway and demand continuing, now is the time to donate canned goods and other nonperishables to the Scott Food Pantry. The cupboard is now bare.

In high demand are canned vegetables, canned fruit, boxed pastas, cereals and other items that do not require refrigeration. If you have other items, such as diapers, cleaning products and paper products, those are needed, too.

Please considering dropping off your food donations anytime. All items are needed.

Project W.I.N.G.S. Presents Packed March Calendar

Project W.I.N.G.S. is hosting weekly sessions throughout March that will be supportive, informative and entertaining.

Thursday night, March 25th, is Family Fun night, starting at 7 p.m., hosted by Josh Jordan.

Ending the month, the W.I.N.G.S.’ Homeless Outreach Ministry will pass out care bags to the homeless. Donations and volunteers are needed. That ministry plans to distribute bags starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 27th. Facilitators are Mary Southern, TaMara Goode and Joshua Jordan.

Summer Jobs

Sister Tammy Thomas wanted young people aware of the mayor's summer youth employment program. Construction training for ages 18 and up is being offered. Scholarships Being Offered Now by UMC

The United Methodist Foundation is offering scholarships for undergraduate and graduate/international missions scholarships. Two of the scholarships are targeted at people of color.

Homeless Outreach Ministry (Every 4th Saturday of the month)

We will be collecting items and donations for homeless care packages to be assembled and delivered on March 29, 2021 at 1 p.m. Donations are needed by March 28th.

We will be doing this every 4th Saturday of the month.

Many homeless individuals and families do not have access to the essential care that they need, and this includes mental and spiritual healthcare.

In addition to care package items, we need volunteers: 1. To help assemble the packages 2. To help deliver the packages 3. As liaisons and/or mental health professionals who able and willing to assist.

List of Needed Items

✔Mammoth XXL Full Body Wipes ✔Sanitary Items (tampons and sanitary towels) ✔Socks – Always useful in all seasons ✔Underwear (Only if the person is familiar with you and you can guestimate their size) – homeless people always need new underwear, but they’ll rarely ask for it. ✔Bus Pass, travel card or similar – homeless people always appreciate this so they can travel to get the things done that they need to. ✔Sewing Kit with Scissors – so they can sew up any holes in any of the clothes they have. ✔Shoe Inners – so they can put fresh soles in their shoes, this will protect their feet, help with walking, insulate their shoes and cover any holes. ✔Ziplock freezer bags – homeless people protect belongings, money and things they need to keep dry when they are in the outdoors. They sometimes put them on their feet inside their shoes to protect their feet from wet weather. ✔Hair Ties & Head Bands – both homeless men and women are not able to afford to get their hair cut, and if often grows very long. Hair ties will be much appreciated by those with longer locks, and they also help to tie up bags and trousers around ankles in cold weather. ✔Unused Gift Cards – especially for shops that sell clothing and underwear ✔ Dry shampoo – to freshen up the hair ✔Sweets, snacks and cordial concentrate – to brighten up their life a little ✔The Most Vital – A hiker’s backpack or good quality backpack they can transfer their things into.
