EMGA Update 15 May 2014 No. 13-14 Open Play Competition Open Play Competition (OPC) preliminary results from last Thursday are shown below. The next OPC is scheduled for May 29th. Tournament Update Our next EMGA Tournament will be on 22 May. This is the Individual Modified Stableford Tournament with a 0800 shotgun start on the Silver course. Sign-in will be between 0645 and 0730 in the EGC Snack Bar. Many have indicated members with whom that they wish to play with and when possible, we will try to make it happen. Remember, this is a flighted tournament with optional skins. Net Skins will be for the field. Gross will be by tee. The signup sheet is in the EMGA book in the Pro shop. You also can sign up using the EMGA website. The EGC pro shop has been advised NOT to sign up members by telephone for tournaments, as in many instances they do not always find time to do it and members are left off the player list. It is the member’s responsibility to sign up, not the Pro Shop. Reminder, no-shows will not be allowed to participate in the following tournament. Members must participate in two EMGA events in order to qualify for the Kregel Championship. Match Play The 2014 EMGA Match Play Tournament is underway. This will be just the fourth time that the SCGA’s premiere championship — the nation’s second-oldest, contin- uously contested amateur golf championship — will be played at a public course. Tijeras Creek GC is the home course of SCGA President Bill Cunerty, who is also the golf coach at Saddleback College in nearby Mission Viejo. It’s also just the fourth time that the tournament has been held in Orange County; the last one was in 1995 when Charlie Wi won at Santa Ana CC. GOLF COURSE COMMITTEE Minutes of May 28, 2015 5:30 P.M. – Leawood City Hall – Main Conference Room Members attending: Dick Fuller (Chair), Mark Bodine, Alec Weinberg, and Greg Peppes. Members absent: Bob Reid, Leo Morton, and Tommy Davidson. Troon Management Staff: Jamie West and James Kennedy Council Liaisons attending: Jim Rawlings and Lou Rasmussen. Staff attending: Chris Claxton Chair Fuller called the meeting to order at 5:55 p.m. Mark Bodine made a motion to approve the February 19, 2015 meeting minutes with the amendment that Alec Weinberg was not in attendance. Alec Weinberg seconded the motion. The minutes were approved unanimously. I. General Operations Report Jamie reported that as of April the course is up 1,194 to 2014. It has been a good start in 2015 with an increase of $60,538 which is just over an 18% growth in revenues. Cart fees are up $14,157 to prior year mostly due to the $1.00 increase. Operating expenses are up 4% to prior year due to the increase in labor as a result of better weather and more play through April. Triple Crown has increased by 10 members. Alec asked what the current membership is at this point. Jamie reported that it is 78. The IGA is now at its highest number ever at members. On a monthly basis we hold golf tournaments for this group with about 50 men participating, some of which is a result of some of the closures of area courses. Dick asked how bad is May looking with all the rain we have had.

As the PGA TOUR begins another great season, we can truly state that the image and competitive spirit of our players has led to the healthiest state in the history of our organization. The Sports Business Journal recently reaffirmed this when it published the “2003 League Report Card,” a survey of corporate sponsors’ opinions of their investment in sports properties. The PGA TOUR ranked first in overall satisfaction among the 16 major sports. This is important as we continue to raise the exposure of our tournaments, provide significant value to our sponsors and showcase the widespread excellence of our athletes. The competition level on the PGA TOUR in 2003 was at an all-time high, with season-ending honors going down to the wire. Tiger Woods recorded a season-high five victories and the lowest stroke average on TOUR and garnered a fifth consecutive Player of the Year honor. Vijay Singh won four times and captured his first money title. Davis Love III won a career-high four times, includ- ing THE PLAYERS Championship, making 2003 the first time in 30 years where three players won four or more times in a season. However, the depth of the TOUR was never more evident. Eleven players age 40 or older combined to capture 15 PGA TOUR titles.
