OGGS Annual Meeting 2014 – Report

Sandy Gray wins the Triple Crown. On Saturday 4th October, 30 golfers ventured out onto the of the House Club Elie, with Benjamin Gray and David Rennie leading the field out at 0930 in the wind and rain.

In the penultimate group of the day, in the sunshine and with a scratch score of 70, Sandy Gray won the Boyes Cup by 2 strokes from Jim Patrick. His nett score of 67 was also good enough to win the Neish’s Cup and the Tullis veterans – the first time in OGGS history that all 3 trophies have been won by the same player.

The ladies trophy was won by Sian Gordon – her third time of winning.

Dinner numbers were good at 42 with first time appearances from Will Sanderson who delivered an excellent grace, Jamie Skinner, Donald Skinner and Nigel and Catriona Christie. Tom Walker ran affairs with efficiency and good humour. Our guests were the Warden Gordon Woods and his wife Emma, Craig Fleming (Director of Alumni Relations), Mike Dougal (GHC Elie Captain), and our guest speaker Willie Biggart and his wife Barbara.

After dinner, Gordon Woods gave us his last ever ‘Warden’s update’, Willie Biggart entertained us with a toast to the OGGS and Stephen Titterington has the room chuckling with his reply on behalf of the OGGS.

On Sunday 5th October, 18 golfers were joined by 5 Glenalmond pupils and Peter Golden, master i/c golf. It was a ‘Skinner Sweep’ with Jamie Skinner winning the David Stocks Memorial Tankard with 40 points and his son, Fergus winning the boys’ competition with 37 points.
