Graphic Design by Carmen Galán [carmengalan.com] BARCELONA Barcelona is the 10th most visited city in the world and the third most visited in Europe after London and Paris, with several million tourists every year. With its ‘Rambles’, Barcelona is ranked the most popular city to visit in Spain and it now attracts some 7.5 million tourists per year. Barcelona has a typical Mediterranean climate. The winter is relatively mild and the summer is hot and humid. The rainy seasons are the once in between autumn and spring. There are very few days of extreme temperature, heat or cold. Every 24th September, Barcelona celebrates it’s annual festival, La Mercè – corresponding to the day of its patron saint. It comprises of some 600 events, from concerts and all kinds of local, cultural attractions including the human tower building, els Castellers, erected by groups of women, men and children, representing values such as solidarity, effort and the act of achievement. Valentina Bilbao CURRICULUM CURRICULUM 2 Valentina Bilbao is a visual artist, born in Caracas, Venezuela. She discovered her love of painting, drawing, and poetry at a young age. She dedicated herself to learning new techniques that allowed her to further develop her artistic skills. She felt the need to convey her knowledge, so she created the Drawing and Painting Workshop “Pinceladas”, which had children and youth of different ages. Valentina continued to dabble in art and received more training at the School of Visual Arts, while at the same time she studied Psychology. Her artwork captures a full and complete expression of emotions such as joy, passion and love with spontaneity, energy, and strength through a wide range of colors, textures, shapes, and figures, making all of her artwork comprehensive and rich in content. In addition, her artwork has balance and harmony, which is the result of all the elements in the right proportions coming alive and containing a constant motion. Color is the main character of her work, which all other elements are combined. This technique is the result of admiration, and study of the different movements of art, which shows an extraordinary capacity for synthesis and integration. CURRICULUM 3 My paintings carry a message of love, energy, bliss, absolute dedication, and passion. My artistic process is reflected onto my artwork through My passion for life inspires me to bring positive emotions music. Music becomes my air. Music is my energy and I and thoughts together in my work. Through each stroke of capture that energy in my work. -
Six Canonical Projects by Rem Koolhaas
5 Six Canonical Projects by Rem Koolhaas has been part of the international avant-garde since the nineteen-seventies and has been named the Pritzker Rem Koolhaas Architecture Prize for the year 2000. This book, which builds on six canonical projects, traces the discursive practice analyse behind the design methods used by Koolhaas and his office + OMA. It uncovers recurring key themes—such as wall, void, tur montage, trajectory, infrastructure, and shape—that have tek structured this design discourse over the span of Koolhaas’s Essays on the History of Ideas oeuvre. The book moves beyond the six core pieces, as well: It explores how these identified thematic design principles archi manifest in other works by Koolhaas as both practical re- Ingrid Böck applications and further elaborations. In addition to Koolhaas’s individual genius, these textual and material layers are accounted for shaping the very context of his work’s relevance. By comparing the design principles with relevant concepts from the architectural Zeitgeist in which OMA has operated, the study moves beyond its specific subject—Rem Koolhaas—and provides novel insight into the broader history of architectural ideas. Se analizarán, igualmente, las sanciones, castigos y acciones punitivas puestas en marcha, no solo como un mecanismo sancionador, sino también recuperador del individuo disidente o desviado.
