In its annual report for 2012, the company summarizes its business operations: We design, develop, manufacture and sell high-performance fully electric vehicles and advanced electric vehicle powertrain components. We own our sales and service network and have operationally structured our business in a manner that we believe will enable us to rapidly develop and launch advanced electric vehicles and technologies. We believe our vehicles, electric vehicle engineering expertise, and operational structure differentiates us from incumbent automobile manufacturers. We are the first company to commercially produce a federally-compliant electric vehicle, the Tesla Roadster, which achieves a market-leading range on a single charge combined with attractive design, driving performance and zero tailpipe emissions. As of December 31, 2012, we had delivered approximately 2,450 Tesla Roadsters to customers in over 30 countries. Tesla Motors Inc. is an American automotive and energy company that was founded in 2003 is based in Palo Alto, California. The company specializes in electric car manufacturing, SolarCity subsidiary and solar panel manufacturing. The company is well known for its exclusive models like Model S, Model 3, Model X and the newest one Model Y. Tesla Motors released its first electric car in 2008 that was called The Roadster. Roadster achieved 245 miles (394 km) on a single charge. Since 2008, Tesla sold approximately 2,450 Roadster in over 30 countries through December 2012. Tesla faced many problems while launching the very first EV not only with the model but with its marketing too. So, this Project Report is being prepared by researching the problems faced by the Tesla regarding its first EV and its marketing. -

Diverse teorie hanno cercato di dare una spiegazione al fenomeno e il dibattito è ancora irrisolto. Il focus dell’elaborato sarà quindi il confronto tra le tre principali teorie, quella classica delle teorie IE, quella alternativa di Hennart (FSA) e quella di mediazione di Dow, cercando di riportare nuove evidenze a sostegno di una teoria piuttosto che un’altra. La metodologia di analisi utilizzata è quella del “case study” e l’analisi si concentrerà su due imprese appartenenti al settore Automotive, Volvo e Tesla; attraverso uno studio approfondito delle due imprese, dei loro modelli di business e dei manager che le guidano, si studierà l’importanza della presenza di alcuni fattori e la superfluità di altri. Considerando Volvo come esempio di impresa non-BG si evidenzieranno infatti i suoi tratti caratteristici a testimonianza di fattori non sufficienti a garantire una rapida espansione estera. Considerando invece Tesla come esempio di impresa BG, si evidenzieranno i fattori necessari. High investment costs of battery systems, however, prevent positive financial returns for most present residential battery installations in Germany. Tesla Motors, Inc. (Palo Alto, CA, USA) announced a novel battery system—the Powerwall—for only about 25% of the current German average market price. According to Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk, Germany is one of the key markets for their product. He has, however, not given numbers to support his statement. In this paper, we analyze the economic benefit of the Powerwall for end-users with respect to various influencing parameters: electricity price, aging characteristics of the batteries, topology of battery system coupling, subsidy schemes, and retrofitting of existing PV systems. Simulations show that three key-factors strongly influence economics: the price gap between electricity price and remuneration rate, the battery system’s investment cost, and the usable battery capacity. -
