List of Graduates 21 11. BUITEMS Regalia 50 3 Foreword COVID-19, the global pandemic wreaked havoc throughout the world. This may sound harsh, but it is easy to feel buried by our circumstances. A farmer while planting new plants sow the seeds. Did the farmer bury the seed? The affirmative response can be contrasted by that he also planted it. Instead of feeling buried by our situation, we must realize that the pain and heartache that has been piled upon us is not meant to bury, but to plant us in a way that will allow us to grow and prosper into who we are meant to be. This year’s convocation looks and sounds a little different than the ceremonies of years past. The academic year 2020 at BUITEMS started with undergraduate courses being offered virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most faculty, staff and students attended their academic and professional responsibilities from home instead of gathering on campus. But then again, 2020 has been a year unlike any other. Amid a global pandemic, the teachers, admin and university authorities came up with an array of creative and meaningful ways to celebrate the achievement of its 2020 graduates. So this year we are gathered virtually to celebrate, cheer and congratulate our graduates. The conduct of e-convocation of 2020 may be the first-ever in-absentia convocation, however, BUITEMS maintained its long tradition of conducting consecutive convocations. BUITEMS has been committed to its aim of providing quality and excellence in education, even during the contagion, the university initiated and transitioned to the online mode of teaching. As coronavirus spread across the country, classes moved to online mode of learning. BUITEMS expects the same dedication, readiness and adaptability from its passing out graduates during such uncertain and unprecedented time. Our graduates fueled by their dedication to identifying solutions to the world’s biggest problems through innovative research and critical thinking are our most precious assets. The seeds of dedication, hard work, commitment, determination and service have been well planted in our students, it is now up to them to allow themselves to grow and prosper as individuals and to serve in their respective fields with utmost responsibility and honesty. With today’s virtual ceremony we step into the era of new digitalization, we, therefore, hope to outshine in the virtual world with the same zeal and vigour. Even though graduation is going to look different for you all, the achievement is still the same. Many congratulations to all our graduates. 4 I am elated to know that exultation surrounds us all as we celebrate the 16th Convocation. I, as the Chancellor Message of this prestigious university, express my sincere regards towards the graduates, their proud parents and the teachers who supported and guided them throughout their academic journey. We celebrate today, the hard work, determination and aims of our esteemed students and honour the sacrifices of the teachers and students. On this well-deserved Convocation, it must be recognized that after this auspicious gathering there lies a new horizon to explore which will require an implementation of the knowledge you acquired. This new aspect of your career will open you up to new challenges and more responsibility, which you must face with dignity, integrity and excellence. The Future of this beloved country, this brave nation is entrusted in your abilities and now is the time to kindle the spark of intellect and spread the light through sheer innovation, immaculate performance and a pure passion for learning. Understand that, however, your Honorable contribution towards the progress and prosperity of the nation it should be worth following. You are Justice (Retd) beacons of peace, innovation, logic and tolerance. Amanullah Khan Professionalism is your way and leadership your crown. This beautiful province and honourable country await Yasinzai your keen interest to make them prosperous and to advance principles upon which this country was founded. Governor Balochistan, I appreciate the efforts of students and honour their Chancellor BUITEMS achievement, I wish for a bright future for you and this nation. I know that your able efforts and performance will take this nation to new heights of success and development. 5 I would like to express my heartiest congratulations to Message parents and teachers who have supported the students who are graduating from BUITEMS today. It's a bittersweet day. You should have been donning your cap and gown, taking lots of photos, hugging family and friends and going across the stage to shake the chancellor's hand to be officially recognized as a new alumnus of BUITEMS. However, due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, your prestigious university upheld to the spirit of resilience by organizing an online convocation. You have a history to tell the coming generations being the first-ever batch to have celebrated an online convocation ceremony. I take this opportunity to share some hard learnt lessons and advice with you as you step into practical lives. The coronavirus has brought great bewilderment to society. The globalization and digitalization of society have also imposed various social transformations. We are entering into an era when we are swiftly transitioning to a new digital age. As you celebrate this milestone, please observe and try to find Ahmed Farooq solutions to today’s challenge. Living in times when disrupting technologies are introduced in a very short time, Bazai (SI) making it very difficult to feel the drastic change occurring in the global environment and envision the future. I, Vice Chancellor therefore, urge you to embrace the change with open mind and heart and bear in mind that successful are those who BUITEMS adapt to the changing trends and times. These forests are characterized by the presence of the world oldest trees being regarded as “living fossils”. These natural resources are of great ecological significance not only at local and regional level but also at global level. Moreover, these natural resources have been facilitating indigenous people by providing resources for shelter, fuel and food. This area was once the center of recreational activities for local people as well as for tourist throughout the country. Additionally, this area has historical importance too, as the founder of Pakistan has spent his last days at this place so it is regarded as symbol of national heritage. In the present scenario, due to human population explosion these chunks of forests are under serious threats of danger both from natural factors as well as from anthropogenic activities. The major threats indentified are illegal cutting for fuel wood and timber, deforestation, overgrazing, climate change induced changes like low rainfall and intermittent drought. If present rate of decline continued at the same rate then it is expected that there will not be enough natural resources for future generations.

The leaf samples of Juniperus excelsa trees were collected from these areas and subjected for the DNA isolation. As no genetic analysis is reported for this area Juniper, thus this study is aimed to optimize a protocol for the extraction of DNA. In order to isolate high aggregate of pure and intact DNA would serve great base for the downstream genetic analyses.
