APPENDIX B: GOODWOOD CIRCUIT- SPECIFIC INFORMATION Chichester, West Sussex PO18 0PH Tel 01234 7550073 APPENDIX B: GOODWOOD CIRCUIT- SPECIFIC INFORMATION Chichester, West Sussex PO18 0PH Tel 01234 7550073 http://www.goodwood.co.uk/getting-here/getting-here-google.aspx Helmets - These must be worn by all drivers and passengers. Specification - Goodwood specifies that all occupants of a car wear suitable helmets – ie properly fitting and secured – that are approved for car, motorcycle or karting, are undamaged and which meet BS requirements or are Kite-marked. It is your head you are protecting so it does not make sense to cut corners. The choice is yours, but MGoT recommends helmets meeting at least BS6658-85 or Snell 2000 specification; if you are buying a new helmet you should consider Snell 2010. Type - Goodwood requires that full-face helmets are worn in open cars fitted with cut- down/folding windscreens or aero/flyscreens; otherwise any type of helmet may be used. If using an open-face helmet in an open car eye protection is recommended (visor or goggles). Noise limits – Goodwood imposes a static check with a limit of 98dB. Goodwood has a strict noise metering system. It monitors individual cars and any car exceeding the 98db limit will be excluded from the track until adjustments are made that reduce the car's noise. The test is conducted at 4500rpm with the noise meter 0.5m and at an angle of 45deg from the exhaust. The system also monitors the accumulation of noise made by all cars on track. If this overall limit is exceeded, then a link to the local council offices is automatically triggered bringing severe penalties. To avoid this, the circuit may stop all track activity for a period long enough to bring the accumulated noise down to normal levels. MGs-on-Track have no control over this and we are obliged to accept any stoppages without recompense Number Stickers: These must be displayed on the right-hand (RH) side of your car. Directions - From the north M25 , leave at junction 10 and head due south on the A3. Quick Motorway route : follow the A3 all the way to Portsmouth then follow the A27 to Chichester. Scenic Route : turn off at Milford A286 to Midhurst or A283 to Petworth then take the A285 towards Chichester then follow turn right for the circuit before you reach the A27. From Southampton, Portsmouth, Worthing, Brighton and Bognor Regis take the A27 towards Chichester and follow signs to Westhampnett or Goodwood Motor Circuit. Nearest petrol - On the eastern side of Goodwood: A 27 west bound Esso station at Tangmere. On the western side of Goodwood; and A27 roundabout where you exit to Goodwood Sainsbury’s superstore. Food and refreshments – Light refreshments including hot filled rolls are available from the NAAFI wagon at the rear of the paddock from approx. 08:30hrs. Light lunches are available at the Aero Club, there is limited seating and it is subject to seating being available. Filming – in-car video is allowed, but videos must be for your own private use only. All cameras (still and video) must be securely mounted to the vehicle, suction mounts are not permitted. Paddock – there are covered areas where you can park behind the pits, please share the space. Personal possessions - Many people leave their spares, tools and spare wheel in the covered areas in the paddock. It is not advised that personal possessions are left here as well. Such items can be left in the Jackie Stewart Pavilion, but it is entirely at the owner’s risk. The Motor Circuit is open to any members of the general public who have access to the paddock and Jackie Stewart Pavilion and whilst taking part in this event you agree to make no claim against MGs on Track and/or the owners/operator of Goodwood Motor Circuit or their officers or agents in respect of any loss of possessions left unattended Animals - No animals except for dogs are permitted anywhere within the boundaries of any of the racing circuit. Guide and Assistance dogs are permitted as are other dogs but they must be kept on short leads. 500 Owners Association MOTOR SPORT Magazine Clippings - 1940’s Issued: 4th March 2015 Notes on 500 and 500-related references This paper is an attempt to record every single 500-related reference from the entire run of the magazine. It includes articles, references in event reports, For Sale advertisements. It also tries to include details that are relevant to the context of the 500 movement, such as clubs, organisation of the sport, and the development of venues. The only area where it is limited is when covering the careers of 500 drivers before or after their time in the movement Status: All magazines in the time period have been fully catalogued. Notes On : • Magazine issues with no entry & light shading are not available for cataloguing. We would be grateful if you could volunteer to add any missing issues. • Every effort has been made to find references, including references in general and classified advertisements. However, it is quite possible that some may have been missed whether because they are very obscure, apparently irrelevant, or just human error. • Transcription Style: • Text has been transcribed verbatim (including spelling errors), with only modern grammar substituted for contractions (e.g. “S Moss” for “S.Moss”; “ftd” for f.t.d.) • “(sic)” notation may have been used where relevant in text, and is a transcriber’s note rather than the source text. • For longer articles, only pieces of note are transcribed. The ellipsis (“… “) before a sentence indicates that text deemed irrelevant has been skipped (which could run to many paragraphs, e.g. reports of other classes in an event report).

  • Marshals' Post
MARSHALS’ The newsletter of the South East Region of the British Motorsport Marshals Club P OS T July / August 2019 CHAIRMAN’S THOUGHTS Like me, you may well have watched the Canadian and British Grand Prix on Sky TV….while I know some others were actually there; some as marshals and some spectating…… I thought I’d rattle some cages, in this issue. Why the hell not?....it’s my column! I had read a Facebook entry that said that the blue flag marshals had been told that they would be redundant, come the race on Sunday. Race Control would handle the blue signalling via their lights. Come the race, I could see that, indeed, there were no blue flags to be seen, and that cars about to be lapped were being shown a blue light. However, the signal appeared to overcome the oft quoted criticism: “but the blue light cannot be shown to a specific car”. This drawback was overcome by having the light panel bordered by blue on all four sides, and the number of the car about to be lapped shown in large white detail. 16 To my mind, this all looks very effective, and eliminates the varying standards of blue flagging which inevitably, irrespective of the flag marshal’s concentration and skills, occurs. Of course, the theoretical effectiveness of such a system depends on 1. A GPS tracking system for the operator in Race Control to use 2. The operator in Race Control is fully competent at assessing the rate at which a leading car is approaching a back-marker.

The 1960s Racings Cars Newsletter No.17 December 2011 for The Group M racing 1961 – 1965 And Group O racing 1966 – 1969 Compiled by Ed Holly HSRCA Registrar [email protected] Welcome to the last newsletter of 2011. Once again starting with a clean sheet 3 months ago, there is plenty of news to fill the pages with some great contributions by fellow competitors and generous assistants, with some great photography from those terrific guys and gals that get out there in all weather and allow us to see the stories unfold. This would be a very boring newsletter without these guys … Eastern Creek 26th and 27th November A year ago and a year to go – that’s the Tasman revival – well this meeting is definitely the in-between one. A pretty good turnout of single seaters too, 27 in all over the weekend in our races consisting of 12 Group O, 12 Group M (including 8 Formula Juniors) and 4 Group L cars who we were privileged to have with us as their numbers didn’t warrant a grid of their own. Missing were a couple of our regulars, Paul Hamilton had had a minor surgical procedure and the Doc told him no so the Elfin 600 was missing and the Brabham BT23 that went so well in Damon Hancock’s hands developed an engine problem on final adjustments just before going into the trailer. Friday and Saturday morning were very wet, in fact Sydney is experiencing its coldest and wettest late spring early summer period in 40 years.

This means that most cars have unique 'build from scratch' suspension physics, engines and gearbox.
