It lays claim to being the oldest city in the U.S., and is known for its Spanish colonial architecture as well as Atlan>c Ocean beaches. Stuart is a city on Florida's Atlan>c Coast. The House of Refuge at Gilbert's Bar is a restored home once used as a haven for shipwrecked sailors in the 1900s. Stuart Heritage Museum has local history displays, including furniture from early pioneer homes. Vero Beach is a small Florida city, with Atlan>c-facing beaches on a barrier island across the Indian River Lagoon. South Beach Park offers wide sands and volleyball courts. Downtown’s South Beach Park chronicles the local citrus industry. On the outskirts, McKee Botanical Garden has tropical plants and water lily–filled streams. To the north, Pelican Island Na>onal Wildlife Refuge shelters brown pelicans. Sebring is a city in Highlands County, Florida, United States, nicknamed "The City on the Circle", in reference to Circle Drive, the center of the Sebring Downtown Historic District. Boca Raton is a city on Florida’s southeastern coast, known for its parks and beaches. Large, oceanfront Red Reef Park is home to the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center with trails, a buXerfly garden and a sea turtle sanctuary. Downtown, Boca Raton Museum of Art has modern and contemporary American and European collec>ons, and a sculpture garden. Nearby Mizner Park Amphitheater hosts concerts and events. Fort Pierce is a city on the east coast of Florida. The oceanfront Na>onal Navy SEAL Museum displays weapons, vehicles and other naval ar>facts. Nearby, Fort Pierce Inlet State Park has a long beach, where swimming and surfing are popular. Pompano Beach is a Florida city just north of Fort Lauderdale. It’s known for its beaches, marinas and offshore coral reef, plus numerous wrecks and other dive sites. The long Pompano Beach Pier stretches into the Atlan>c Ocean. North, along the shore, the 1900s Hillsboro Lighthouse guards the Hillsboro Inlet, an entrance to the Intracoastal Waterway. Pompano Community Park has tennis courts and an amphitheater. Gainesville is a city in northern Florida. It's known for the University of Florida. Set on the sprawling campus, the Florida Museum of Natural History houses fossils and ethnographic exhibits. It includes the BuXerfly Rainforest, home to hundreds of free-flying buXerflies and birds. Harn Museum of Art, the Matheson History Museum. Lake City is the county seat of Columbia County, Florida, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city's popula>on was 12,046. It is the principal city of the Lake City Micropolitan Sta>s>cal Area, which is composed of Columbia County, and had a 2010 popula>on of 67,531.

Airport Updates/Roundtable • St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport – Vice-chair Tillmann reported that Phase 2 of the terminal project is on-going with work underway on the new chiller system, roof and ticketing areas. He mentioned that they are completing work on security exit lane portals, a new Flight Information Display System (FIDS) and a voice paging system. Vice-chair Tillmann reported that Phase 1 of the taxiway improvement project is also underway.

Failure to do so may jeopardize your safety and the safety of others. No Radio (NORDO) aircraft must land at an airport within approximately thirty (30) minutes of LAL, call Lakeland Tower at 863-834-3335, and receive ATC approval for arrival. Specific routes and runway assignment will be issued based on traffic and weather conditions. To ensure clear and concise communications with ATC, pilots are asked to carry a copy of the Sun ’n Fun NOTAM aboard their aircraft. All VFR departures requesting airborne activation of IFR flight plans or VFR flight following in the central Florida area should use published procedures. (See: IFR Pick Up/VFR Flight Following) When weather at Lakeland or along your route of flight is marginal VFR, it is strongly suggested that you file IFR from your departure airport and receive your IFR clearance and departure release on the ground. Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville Approaches may be unable to issue IFR pick-up clearances due to traffic volume and complexity.

    News from the Florida Department of Transportation Aviation Office www.fdot.gov/aviation SPRING 2020 CARES ACT FUNDING by Michael McDougall, Aviation Communications Manager n March 27, 2020, President Trump signed a $2.2 trillion stimulus bill into law called the Coronavirus Aide, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), of which $10 billion in grants was allocated to provide relief to eligible airports in the U.S. that have been impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, the Federal Aviation O Administration (FAA) would fund a large percentage of AIP eligible projects and there would be a local match contributed by the Airport’s sponsor. As a result of the CARES Act, temporary changes have been made to the Airport Improvement Program (AIP). $500 million of the $10 billion is now available to increase the federal share of certain projects up to 100 percent. The other $9.5 billion will be made available to airports to cover expenses such as operational costs, payroll, debt services, aiding in protection, prevention, and future preparations to combat complications from the pandemic. For projects identified to receive 100 percent federal funding, there will be no local contribution. All airports that are in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) were eligible for funding, as determined by an airport’s classification of either commercial service or general aviation. Commercial Service airports (those with 10,000 or more annual passenger boardings) were eligible to receive up to $7.4 billion of CARES Act funding, based on their total annual enplanements. This is similar to how Commercial Service airports receive the AIP entitlement funds.
