In this paper, we will consider heraldry in the People’s/Socialist Republic of Macedonia, understood by the multitude of coats of arms, and armorial knowledge and art. Due to historical, as well as geographical factors, there is only a small number of coats of arms and a developing knowledge of art, which make this paper’s aim feasible. This paper covers the earliest preserved heraldic motifs and coats of arms found in Macedonia, as well as the attributed arms in European culture and armorials of Macedonia, the кing of Macedonia, and Alexander the Great of Macedonia. It also covers the land arms of Macedonia from the so-called Illyrian Heraldry, as well as the state and municipal heraldry of P/SR Macedonia. The paper covers the development of heraldry as both a discipline and science, and the development of heraldic thought in SR Macedonia until its independence in 1991. Keywords: heraldry of Macedonia; coats of arms of Macedonia; socialist heraldry; Macedonian municipal heraldry 1. Introduction Macedonia, as a region, is situated on the south of Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Citation: Jonovski, Jovan. 2021. Europe. • Bibliografija Knjiga
CROATICA U GODINI 1 970.: BIBLIOGRAFIJA KNJIGA J elena O čak I) UVODNE NAPOMENE A 1. To znači: PRVO. Osim djela hrvatskih književnika u bibliografiju ulaze i sve one knjige kojima je predmet hrvatska književnost. Knjiga Jana Wierzbickog o pro blemima hrvatsko-poljskih literarnih veza i utjecaja (Z dziejovv chorwacko-pol- skich stosunkow literackih w vvieku XIX) nije rad hrvatskog, nego poljskog knji- ževnika-znanstvenika, ali ona mora postati jedinicom ovako zamišljene biblio grafije.

Publication Date 1995 Peer reviewed eScholarship.org Powered by the California Digital Library University of California Ivo Andric Revisited: The Bridge Still Stands Edited by Wayne S. Vucinich Description: Ivo Andric won the 1961 Nobel Prize for Literature for an extraordinary body of fiction and poetry rooted in the politics and cultural history of the Balkans. Andric drew on his formal studies, political activism, diplomatic career, and extended residence in Bosnia, Croatia, and Serbia to explore the human links that have united the region, to argue that conflict is not inevitable, and to lay the basis for a unified Yugoslavia. Today, Andric is claimed by all Yugoslavs as their greatest literary figure, but tragically missing the point of his work, often criticized by each group for not championing its own particular cause. This volume explores many facets of Andric: the artist immersed in both the written and oral South Slavic literary traditions developing his own unique narrative style; the humanist examining the relationships of victimization, grief, shame, and art; the anthropologist analyzing the role of women and the dynamics of gender relations; and the historian peeling through the layers of local traditions and historical experience. Ştefan STAREŢU EUROPA CENTRALĂ ŞI DE SUD-EST ŞI FEUDALISMUL SÂRBESC ÎNTRE SECOLELE AL XII –XV-LEA Central and South-Eastern Europe and Serbian feudalism between the 12th and 15th centuries Abstract: This paper presents a brief analysis of the situation in central and South-eastern Europe during the 12th to the 15th centuries, to understand the mechanisms of the political, religious and social movements’ dynamics at that time. Thus, starting mostly from the 12th century, the territory of Eastern Europe was marked by the break between Orthodoxy and Catholicism and by the power relations that resulted from it. Hungarian and Serbian elites were in the middle of these realities. From the time when Stefan Nemanja became the leader of Serbia in 1166, to the fall of the Serbian Despotate in 1459, Serbia’s importance in supporting Orthodoxy in Central Europe and especially in Hungary was overwhelming. Stefan Nemanja was the most important personality in the history of Orthodoxy in the first part of this historical period, and the Brankovich family continued organically the nemanid medieval Serbia's historic prestige, even after its total fall under the Turks, with influences in the Romanian area too. On the other hand, Hungary after the Arpadian extinction basically was in dispute with Orthodox families from Russia, Serbia and Cumania or Bulgarian-Wallachia and with Western families. Sigismund of Luxemburg and Stefan Lazarevich‘ s roles were essential during this period. Keywords: Europe, Serbia, Stefan Nemanja, Sigismund of Luxemburg, Stefan Lazarevich.
