ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY, INC. ® TAU OMICRON OMEGA CHAPTER

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PROGRAM

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the first black sorority in America, was organized at Howard University, Washington, D.C. in January 1908. The sorority was conceived as an instrument for enriching the social and intellectual facets of college life for African- American women.

Over a century of growth has produced from a group of nine members, a national organization with a membership of over one hundred thousand. The members equate the worth of the organization with its value to the various communities of which it is a part.

As one means of encouraging special talent, rewarding outstanding achievement, and recognizing high ethical and moral standards among high school students, Tau Omicron Omega plans to award five(5) five hundred dollars ($500) scholarships to help five students continue his/her post-secondary education.

Again this year, we are emphasizing and encouraging students to attend a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) which is one focus of our chapter’s international platform. An additional point will be given to the applications which contain the student’s intent to attend an HBCU.

AN INCOMPLETE APPLICATION WILL DISQUALIFY THE APPLICANT. ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY, INC.
