Mobile technology is the key disruptive influence in the travel industry. The possibilities it affords and the demands it is creating are challenging every aspect of the travel journey. There is now an expectation for instantaneous information that can be accessed by consumers whenever they desire it through the mobile web and apps. In order to deliver this experience travel brands need to conduct an enormous amount of work behind the scenes. The Mobile in Travel Report Series seeks to give travel brands all the tools they need to succeed in this sphere, from understanding consumer trends to the nuts bolts of app construction. This report series will allow you to comprehensively understand mobile in travel through: The current state of the m-commerce in travel. Mobile search and purchase behaviors. A complete understanding of mobile web and native apps and their inherent advantages. Answering whether mobile web or native apps are more important. Investment strategies. Mobile website construction. The cost of app development and how to build successful apps. Driving app downloads and keeping apps on users’ phones.

  • Giant List of Online Travel Companies E-Book by White Sky Hospitality
THE GIANT LIST OF ONLINE TRAVEL COMPANIES BY WHITE SKY HOSPITALITY © WHITE SKY HOSPITALITY 2015 1 The world of hotels and travel is constantly changing. New ideas and business models are replacing existing ones quickly. And this has made finding a quick reference guide to online intermediaries like OTAs difficult. Even hotels with resources are finding it tricky to navigate through this flux. And if you are an independent hotel owner or a sales manager who also is in charge of online distribution, it is even harder. 2 Why is it so important for hotels to understand this online landscape? The reason is simple – the better the understanding of what the right channels are, how they operate and which segments they target, the better the sales reach of the hotel. With dramatic increases in online and mobile hotel bookings, can hotels continue to rely on their traditional understanding of OTAs? We venture not.. 3 We had to answer one question first as we started - what type of companies should and could come under this list? For practical purposes, we have taken the approach that they qualify for the list if they sell inventory as a third party on behalf of the hotel. (again there are exceptions but….) 4 As we started building the list, the need for further classification was clear. What is an online travel agency? Is it just a well known site like Booking.com? Or are group booking sites included? What about metasearch and last minute booking apps? Do airline websites that offer hotel bookings qualify? Or only if they work independently? 5 To address this, we have classified them into broad categories.
