Lit in , the arrives in the UK on 18 May 2012. Representing peace, unity and friendship, the Flame will be carried by 8,000 inspirational Torchbearers during the Olympic Torch Relay. As it makes its way across the UK on a 70-day journey it will bring the excitement of the Games to everyone.

1. The Olympics location is always officially listed in the hosting city as opposed to the country

9. The five rings on the Olympic Flag symbolizes the five significant continents. The colours on of the rings were chosen since at least one of the colours could be found on every flag of all the countries.

10. It wasn't until 1900 that women were allowed to participate in the Olympic Games.
