Fraserburgh FC Official Matchday Programme

Today we welcome the players, management, official and supporte rs of Fort William to Bellslea Park for our Press & Journal Highland League match.

Firstly I have to congratulate everyone at Fort William for their fantastic result last week down at Preston Athletic. It was their first ever Scottish Cup victory so I am sure the bus journey home was less than quiet!

Last weekend we had a decent result ourselves with the 3- 2 victory over Dalbeattie Star. It was nerve-racking in the Happy Haddock and was never short of a word or even second half after they scored twice in as many minutes a piece of advice. Graeme was an avid Broch fan and early in the second half but we got through in the end. very rarely missed a game when he was at home from the sea. He will certainly be missed around the

The main thing is that we Aberdeenshire Cup Final on the Saturday. Fraserburgh FC Official Matchday Programme

Last week's game against Dalbeattie Star in the Scottish Cup must have been one where the emotions were a bit like a roller coaster. How did you see things and do you think there was a bit of complacency in the second half?

We played well in the first half and deservedly went in front. 3-0 was a fair result at half time as I felt we were in total control. Marc Lawrence got himself a couple of goals again and is starting to find his feet in this league. Second half for whatever reason we didn't turn up. We stopped battling and pressing them and allowed them back in to the game. We should have been able to press on and get a couple more goals instead of holding on like we did. But the cup is all about the result and Looking a little ahead you have a very busy schedule progressing in to the next round which we have so we coming up with midweek League matches against now have Turriff United away in round 2 which will be a Turriff United and Huntly either side of the very tough tie. Aberdeenshire Cup Final against Inverurie Loco Works. How much will that stretch your young squad? Moving onto to today's game Fort William will be on a high after their excellent victory in the Scottish Cup With such a hectic period there is little doubt that we against Preston Athletic. What danger will Ally Ewen's pick up the odd bump and bruise here and there. We side pose? will just have to manage each player individually and make sure everyone is treated where need be. I have a Fort William have come on leaps and bounds over the good squad where players who haven't had much of a last few years and credit to them. They have turned chance will more than likely be involved at some point themselves in to a good side who are difficult to beat. over the next 4 games that said you would rather play They managed to score 3 goals against Brora the other than train so we will prepare for each game carefully week and I don't think many teams can say that. Their and try and manage the players so we have everyone in main threat is the boy McLeod who is bang on form and good shape scoring plenty goals. We will have to be in our toes with him around. Like every other game we must be at our All the best, Mark. best to win

FFc strips welcomed in uganda

Fraserburgh FC’s kit has found its way to Uganda thanks to the Assembly of God in Fraserburgh

“We are delighted that our old playing kit has gone to good use and it is quite humbling to think of something that we have basically thrown away has given so much pleasure to someone else.” Derek Watt of the AOG said,

“In 2009 the first team of 10 of us visited Kampala Uganda Africa after listening to the Watoto children's choir singing at AOG central Fraserburgh. We felt called to build a home for the Orphaned and abandoned children that Watoto were looking after.

This was the start of what has now been 5 trips to Uganda where a house, classroom, teachers Accommodation block, children's church and the latest Worship Academy have been built or funded.

“Excellence" is imprinted upon everything Watoto does and during a visit to their Sustainability Farm we learned they had a Football team.

Now upon meeting the team we discovered they had no kit and the football they were using was just a joke.

Deciding to help out we got a collection together and bought Uganda football tops from the local market to give them a sense of excellence and team spirit we also gave them some Footballs.

But during preparing for this 2015 trip Andrew was gifted the FFC kits and he knew exactly where to distribute these at. We had the great pleasure of providing the Watoto Farm team with a complete kit they now had new tops, shorts and socks something they never had.

It’s something we take for granted we play the game discard the kits and replace them when we need to but to these guys you would think we had given them the world.

Football is loved all over the world and to be able to let these guys look like a team and have the footballs to train like a team was a great thing to be able to do.

We cannot Thank FFC enough for the kit that brought such smiles to guys that I suppose dream like we all did of being the next Ronaldo or Messi. At least with the new kits they are a step closer.

Fraserburgh FC Results 1963/64 The back pages showed there was still much uncertainty at Highland League Cup Section matches the start of the 1963/64 season as to whether or not the Broch Opponents Home Away would continue. The Herald wrote “What’s a Town without a Deveronvale 3-1 3-2 Team?” Just round the corner there came a saviour. Mr Peter Huntly 2-2 0-5 Cameron, an Aberdeen businessman, was ready to back the Pete rhead 1-4 0-4 Broch. Suddenly things didn’t look so bad. A couple of big Highland League names arrived, Tommy Ring (ex Clyde), Jimmy Milne (signed Opponents Home Away from Forfar and was with Hearts for a while) and Johnny Allen Brora Rangers 4-1 0-4 ex Dunfermline and Aberdeen. Has the dark clouds lifted Buckie Thistle 1-3 3-2 enough for the Broch to turn the corner? Clachnacuddin 0-3 2-8 Deveronvale 1-3 2-3 Another team was elected to the Highland League, Brora Elgin City 1-2 5-4 Rangers from the far north of Scotland. With the Bellslea Forres Mechanics 1-1 0-3 getting a makeover, we waited in anticipation for the start of Huntly 3-3 0-3 the season. A 6-1 win in a friendly v Banks O’ Dee was a good Inverness Caledonian 1-4 0-4 start. The Broch team that day was: Stephen, Russell,

Inverness Thistle 2-3 2-5 MacLean, Brown, Milne, Smith, Allen, McDonald, Ingram,

Keith 3-2 1-0 Christie, Ring. This whetted the fans appetite and the

Lossiemouth 3-3 2-7 following Wednesday the Broch put 9 past the Toolies with

Nairn County 1-6 1-3 Allen scoring 4, Ring (2), Summers (2) and Brown.

Peterhead 0-0 0-2

Ross County 3-1 3-5 On Saturday August 10th we played at home to Huntly in the

Rothes 4-1 3-1 League Cup. The queue to get into the Bellslea stretched

Aberdeenshire Cup First Round along to the corner of the street, something that hadn’t been vs Keith (h) W 3-2 seen for a long time. The game started in sensational style.

Aberdeenshire Cup Semi Final Young of Huntly hit the byline and crossed to Christie who vs Deveronvale (h) D 1-1 flashed the ball past Thom to put Huntly 1-0 ahead in just 30

Aberdeenshire Cup Semi Final Replay seconds. A Ring free-kick resulted in the Broch’s Christie vs Deveronvale (a) W 2-1 heading home to make it 1-1. Allen made it 2-1 for the Broch

Qualifying Cup North 1st Round on 27 minutes but Byers equalised for Huntly on the stroke of vs Peterhead (h) W 4-3 half time. There was no more scoring and the game ended 2- nd Qualifying Cup North 2 Round 2. The attendance was estimated at nearly 2,000 proving that vs Rothes (a) W 2-1 if there was a competitive team the crowds would come out. Qualifying Cup North Quarter Final A 4-0 defeat at Peterhead followed with Billy Weir hitting a vs Brora Rangers (a) W 4-1 hat-trick. The next outing was a 3-1 home win against the Qualifying Cup North Semi Final Vale with Ewen grabbing a hat-trick. The reverse fixture saw vs Forres Mechanics (h) L 3-4 the Broch win 3-2 at Banff with new signing George Kelly st Scottish Cup 1 Round netting twice and James Ingram also on the scoresheet. The Vs Dunfermline Athletic (a) L 0-7 group finished though with a 5-0 drubbing at Huntly quickly followed by a 4-1 home defeat to local rivals Peterhead saw the Broch eliminated from the competition and Allen’s goals was just a consolation.

It was back to League business. I though that the days of getting a tanking were past but the scoreline from Clach came through saying the Broch had lost 8-2!! Had the bubble burst? With a home tie the following week against Peterhead in the st 1 Round of the Qualifying Cup it was a must win game to kick th start the season. The match was played on 7 September and Peterhead took the game to the Broch and were 3-0 up after half an hour. The Broch looked dead and buried but Allen reduced the leeway before half time to give the home side hope. Kelly made it 3-2 on 48 minutes and they Broch were awarded a penalty on 73 minutes from which Meldrum gave Wood no chance. The Broch’s tails were up now and it was no surprise when Beattie gave the home side the lead on 80 minutes. It stayed that way and the Bellslea erupted with strains of come awa the Burgh. It had been a long time since the fans had invaded the pitch at the Bellslea. The next round saw a visit to Rothes and Kelly gave the visitors the lead on 31 minutes with Allen tapping into an empty net on 70 minutes to make it 2-0. Despite a late consolation the Broch had qualified for the quarter finals where they were drawn away to Brora.
