Chairman Bobby Seale of the Black Panther Party sits chained and gagged in a courtroom in Chicago. Seale has been on trial along with seven white men for conspiracy in organizing the demonstrations in August 1968 at the Democratic National Convention. On one level, he is the victim of a giant legal trick. His indictment as one of the Conspiracy 8 was a frame since his relationship to the demonstrations consisted in speaking at one of the rallies. At the same time that he has been on trial in Chicago for the Conspiracy, he is being held without bond for conspiring to murder a man named Alex Rackley (whom he had never met) in New Haven, Connecticut on a day that he was in California. Being in jail has severely limited his ability to work with the Conspiracy defendants and lawyers to develop their legal strategy. The Arab case on Palestine is straightforward and obvious. It is understood and supported by colonial liberation movements everywhere. Few in the West ever bother to think about it, and an extraordinary double standard prevails. It is not difficult to imagine the reaction of Western opinion if in the June 1967 war the roles of Israel .and the Arabs had been reversed, if the Arab states had made a blitzkrieg attack on Israel, if Arab armies had forcibly evicted Israelis from homes and land in Israel as the Israeli Army ruthlessly evicted Arabs from their homes and lands in occupied Jordan, Syria, Gaza, and Sinai, and has continued to do ever since: Let us suppose that Israel was established by agreed decision, that it accepyed as final the frontiers laid down by this decision, that the grave injury inflicted on the indigenous Palestine population had been Israel). We are about making white people understand the necessity for armed struggle on the side of the people of the world. To develop this consciousness we have to work with the tensions In white kids. They hate and fear pig Amerika but they also hate and fear the Black Revolution. What we have to get them to dig is that the victory o* the national struggles of colonial peoples means the smashing of pig Amerika« And that to win our own liberation we must fight on the side of those national liberation struggles. The place tills Is becoming real for millions of white kids is in the high schools, where the Black Liberation struggle 1B moving faster every day. Because that struggle will smash anything that stands in Its way, the form It is taking is race war. The question for us is how do we get kids who are being vamped on by blacks to fight on the side of the peoples of the world?

At Lane High School In New York, race war bas been going on for awhile now. The blacks are winning. They have slowly taken over the school during the past few years. Last year things reached a high point when a pig teacher was set on fire. The local white racists started to move, the school was octrupied by the police, and the administration kicked out 700 black students. But a united front of parents and students pushed through the repression and kept on moving. A few weeks ago, black students in an Afro-American studies class hoisted the red, green, and black flag of the Republic of Mew Africa (RNA) and pulled kids out of classes all over the school to a meeting in the cafeteria to get things together. The principal busted It up and people moved out and ripped up the whole school. The next day the whites, who saw the blacks as the enemy, came ready to fight with chains and knives. They were easily crushed. The whites relied on outside force to try to regain some control, We tried to move in a situation that wasn't yet as extreme as Lane. At John Adams but as the pig scene became heavier the blacks got less and less into fightingth e High School, the brothers and friends of the white kids at Lane ara fighting a losing whites and more and more into trashing pigs. The question is simply whether or not the black American is going to perish with racist imperialist America as a party to her savage crimes against oppressed and progressive humanity or whether he is going to contribute to the great victory of revolutionary humanity destined to fulfill its historical role. Each year rioting, as a result of police brutality and oppression, becomes more extensive and ferocious. We can neither pray nor hope our way out of this difficult situation. We must defend ourselves. We must fight, and we must fight to win. We must also consider the immediate necessity of effective self-defense and resistance to racist terror. During times of massive rioting too many of our people are forced to fight armed cops and troops with bare hands and stones. Cops and troops must be diarmed and their weapons turned against other cops to obtain weapons of defense. Tanks and armored cars must be knocked out with molotov epektails and captured when possible. Raïookas and mortars must be taken from troops and national guard armories to prevent heavy r-oncentration of troops and invasion by overwhelming force. The Minute men, Confederate inderground, and other terrorist groups are arming and training with I'S Army gear such as bazookas, mortars, hand grenades, machine guns, and gas masks. Submachine guns are even being manufactured in small shops controlled by these fascist groups- These private arsenals must be located and raided for weapons and ammunition. These weapons can also be used to do extensive damage. Oil storage tanks and natural gas lines could be fired through delayed methods. The oppressor must be forced to pay heavily economically for his police brutality, pogroms, racist court frame-ups, and white supremacy terror.

Around Christmas, one of those big plast.c shopping! centers was the scene of a month of Saturday riots. Fleven Girls of Hue Defeated an American Battal

The squad under command of Nguyen Thi Lien was made up of eleven girls. Lien, the eldest, was nineteen. Cue, Una, and Sao, the youngest, would be seventeen soon. Since its formation. Lien and her comrades watched them carefully and accurately shot at him who raised his head. The enemy counter-attacked only an hour later. The girls took advantage of any obstacle snipe, hurl grenades at the Americans, sowing confustor in their ranks. Pinned down, the battalion called for air support. Tens of armed helicopters screamed furiously over the battlefield for hours without being able to Intervene, for there was no definite front line. Sao and Mai, the younger, calmly sniped the enemy and never missed their shots. Two G.I.'s were hit at the same time by one bullet, tens of others look to their heels, leaving behind their dead. A column of about one hundred men was checked fifty metres from ihe squad after Laving lost 17 dead. The enemy used poisonous grenades, then their rumbling M.ll3's. Covering their faces with wet towels, the girls fought on. Bui the M.lU's kept advancing steadlly.Ourcombatants had no anti-tank guns and racked their brains for the best way to stop them. A group of Liberation fighters turned tip and shouted: "Girls of ßeif -defense units, let us help you '. " Lien answered before seeing them : "We are strong enough to repel them." A group of fighters outflanked the enemy. At a distance of twenty metres or s<> from the tanks, they let off three bullets which hit three vehicles. The other M.113's turned round and fled away, followed by GJ.'s. The girls jumped out of their trenches to pursue the latter as far as the Ba 1 rieu cross-road. Thirty more G.I.'s fell down. The survivors fled in disorder. After a day of relentless attack, Lien's squad smashed no less than ten counter-attacks of an American battalion, wiping out 120 GJ.'s. The eleven girls of Hue were awarded the title "Valianl anti-l ,S. FIghteVs". The squad received the First Class Liberation Kxplolt Order and was called the "Iron Squad". The eleven girls of Hue are worthy of the traditions of Vietnam»se women and are the pride of the whole country.

When the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association ordered sweatshirts and «^auto bumper stickers reading "Pigs Is Beautiful," some officers became critical. The term "pig" has been used in a derogatory manner against policemen by some people. Cleveland Police Chief Patrick Gerity Issued s statement Wednesday against use of the pig as a national symbol for policemen. Pro-pig officers defended the use of the term. "The Democratic Party has a jackass as a symbol. Does that mean all Democrats are jackasses?" one association member asked.
