Ltd., atau disingkat Nissan, adalah perusahaan otomotif terbesar kedua di Jepang setelah Toyota dan merupakan salah satu dari tiga pesaing Asia di Amerika Serikat. Meskipun demikian, Nissan pernah berada dalam kondisi krisis pada akhir tahun 90- an. Nissan telah berkali-kali melakukan restrukturisasi dengan pimpinan dari internal perusahaan. Namun, usaha tersebut tidak mampu menyelamatkan Nissan dari kondisi krisis, sehingga pada akhirnya langkah terobosan pun diambil. Proses aliansinya dengan Renault (perusahaan otomotif Prancis), telah menyelamatkan Nissan dari kebangkrutan. Renault, dengan tokoh utamanya Carlos Ghosn, telah berhasil menghasilkan keuntungan bagi Nissan dan membangkitkan Nissan dari keterpurukannya melalui langkah-langkah radikal yang diambil.
