Anar had long ago attracted the attention of theatre staff as one of the most interesting representatives of young generation in our literature...” Tofiq Kazımov “Anar’s role in our cinematography is exclusively great. It’s quite difficult even to enumerate the films shot under his creative signature. Yet I don’t speak of its being a long list not only for quantity, but also for covering the literary range, period, characters, genres and spirits. In other words, if I were analytical writer and publicist, film specialist, I would write a book about him rather than a simple newspaper article...” Oktay Mirgasimov Anar with his grandchildren 29 Anar is meeting with Iohann Pavel II, the 264th Pope who visited Baku. 2002 “The hero of the film “Dante’s Jubilee”, “minor” actor Feyzulla Kabirlinsky is cohered to his profession with great moral ties. Straining the situation, Anar charactesizes his sympathetic and affecting hero as really talentless and unskillful actor…. Kabirlinsky loves his profession disinterestedly and devotedly, but his love is unrequited and therefore, to some extent, it is of tragic nature. However, there won’t be real art without such devoted actors. The film “Dante’s Jubilee” enlightens us once again with this simple truth.” V.Bojowich “…we watched “Dada Gorgud” as a film produced in Azerbaijan. First of all, we are very grateful to our Azeri brothers having produced the film: why? At least, because they did the task that we were to do and reminded us our still living epos like “Dada Gorgud”...” Ahmad Kabakly 30 “...Anar is the most delicate and sensitive analyst among the writers of his generation.” Lev (Leo) Anninsky “I knew quite little about Anar, also not as a humorist writer at all. For instance, the fine lyrical story like “Me, You, He and the Telephone”, which was obdurately distorted by cinematographs was authored by Anar. All his humoristic stories are real pleasant finding and discovery for me.” Nikita Bogoslovsky “Azerbaijani writer Anar’s novel is aesthetic literary work, because, first of all, it embodies the reality, secondly, it awakens thoughts of ideality in the reader.” “Sonntag” newspaper, Berlin, 3.04.1983 Ilham Aliyev meets with top management of Writers’Union on the eve of XI Writers’ Congress.
