The proposed Action is located on a pre-identified section Vidin-Sofia-Burgas-Thessaloniki-Athina of the Orient/East-Med Corridor. It Recommended total eligible is part of a Global Project to upgrade the railway line between Thessaloniki, €1 000 000 costs: Strimonas and Promachonas that aims to remove bottlenecks on the existing Recommended funding: €500 000 cross-border section and enhance accessibility and connectivity between the two countries. It consists of a set of studies to upgrade, electrify and improve safety of Recommended EU support: 50.00% the railway line between Thessaloniki and Promachonas. The outcome of these studies will lead to works to remove the above mentioned physical bottlenecks. In the long term the proposed action will generate a significant modal split in favour of rail along the southern branch of the Orient/East-Med Corridor. Evaluation Remarks The proposed Action is very relevant as it addresses major bottlenecks on the pre-identified section of the Orient/East-Med Corridor. Its maturity is good as financial and political commitments are ensured. The impact of the proposed Action is good as its results will be used as a decision-making tool to plan further investments. The quality of the proposal is good since the single activity is well described and the costs are realistic..
