Diese Dynamik wird sich auch in Zukunft fortsetzen, bis 2030 wird die Wohnbevölkerung in Leibnitz voraussichtlich um +1,6 % wachsen. Somit zählt der Bezirk zu den wenigen demographischen Wachstumsregionen der Steiermark. » Leibnitz ist eng mit dem Zentralraum Graz verflochten. Die gute Verkehrsanbindung des Bezirks erlaubt eine intensive Pendelbeziehung mit dem Zentralraum Graz. Neben dem Bauwesen weist Leibnitz eine klare regionale Spezialisierung in der Nahrungs- und Genussmittelindustrie auf. Die Betriebsstruktur von Leibnitz ist von KMU geprägt. » Das Bruttomedianeinkommen in Leibnitz liegt deutlich unter dem steirischen Durchschnitt, jedoch über jenem der anderen südoststeirischen Bezirke. Vor allem der südliche Teil von Leibnitz ist mit der Weinstraße beziehungsweise dem Naturpark Südsteirisches Weinland ein Tourismusgebiet. Jahrhundert agrarisch EU-Beitritt Sloweniens im Jahr 2004 beziehungsweise geprägt.
