Objectives and Contextualisation The course focuses mainly on the following areas: a) the features of written language discourse and the nature of reading and writing tasks; b) children learning processes, especially those concerned with the development of reading and writing skills; c) teaching and learning how to write and how to organise written tasks in the classroom; d) the different purposes of literary education at early ages, especially in the context of language immersion schools; e) the characteristics of children books and literature: types and formats of printed and digital books. f) the value of children books as educational tools to promote adult-children interaction: selection criteria to meet diverse educational goals. Chapter 2. Native Languages of West-Central California This chapter discusses the native language spoken at Spanish contact by people who eventually moved to missions within Costanoan language family territories. No area in North America was more crowded with distinct languages and language families than central California at the time of Spanish contact. In the chapter we will examine the information that leads scholars to conclude the following key points: The local tribes of the San Francisco Peninsula spoke San Francisco Bay Costanoan, the native language of the central and southern San Francisco Bay Area and adjacent coastal and mountain areas. San Francisco Bay Costanoan is one of six languages of the Costanoan language family, along with Karkin, Awaswas, Mutsun, Rumsen, and Chalon. The Costanoan language family is itself a branch of the Utian language family, of which Miwokan is the only other branch. The Miwokan languages are Coast Miwok, Lake Miwok, Bay Miwok, Plains Miwok, Northern Sierra Miwok, Central Sierra Miwok, and Southern Sierra Miwok. Other languages spoken by native people who moved to Franciscan missions within Costanoan language family territories were Patwin (a Wintuan Family language), Delta and Northern Valley Yokuts (Yokutsan family languages), Esselen (a language isolate) and Wappo (a Yukian family language). Below, we will first present a history of the study of the native languages within our maximal study area, with emphasis on the Costanoan languages. In succeeding sections, we will talk about the degree to which Costanoan language variation is clinal or abrupt, the amount of difference among dialects necessary to call them different languages, and the relationship of the Costanoan languages to the Miwokan languages within the Utian Family. -

PER QUÈ VOLEM SER COMARCA? PER QUÈ HEM DE SER COMARCA? PERQUÈ ÉS LA ÚNICA OPCIÓ POSSIBLE EL MODEL DE COOPERACIÓ DEL MOIANÈS: EL CONSORCI El Moianès és un territori format per 10 municipis situats a l'extrem de les respectives comarques: Castellcir, Castellterçol, Granera, Sant Quirze Safaja (Vallès Oriental), Collsuspina (Osona), Calders, l'Estany, Moià, Monistrol de Calders i Santa Maria d'Oló (Bages), i que comptem amb una població de 13.140 habitants. D'aquests municipis, només 3 superen els 1.000 habitants. Aquesta petita dimensió dificulta el poder donar, de forma individual, respostes eficients a les necessitats i problemàtiques dels nostres pobles. El projecte de llei de Governs Locals aprovat recentment defineix les comarques com aquell nivell d'administració que facilitarà la cooperació i coordinació dels municipis, fent possible respostes conjuntes a problemàtiques comunes. Els 10 municipis tenim unes característiques geogràfiques, històriques i socioeconòmiques molt similars però alhora som molt diferents de les 3 comarques a les que pertanyem, i en les que el nostre pes és insignificant (en molts casos els nostres municipis ni tan sols compten amb representació dintre dels corresponents Consells Comarcals). Aquests fets han provocat que els municipis del Moianès, des de fa anys, no haguem trobat en les actuals comarques respostes adequades a les nostres necessitats en determinats àmbits i ens hàgim organitzat, ara fa ja 18 anys, sota la fórmula del Consorci del Moianès. El Consorci del Moianès va néixer l'any 1994 per a donar resposta a una necessitat del territori. La crisi del tèxtil dels anys 90 va generar una situació de desconcert al Moianès i a les seves persones i els 10 ajuntaments del territori ens vam unir voluntàriament per fer-hi front, mitjançant la creació d'aquesta entitat. -
