In all almost 900 specimens were examined. Seven species are described here as new for science - Coleophomteregnathdla, C. kononenkoi, C. okuella, C. raphidon, C. irinae, C.parki, C 42 napolovi.previously known species were identified, of which five are new for the fauna of Asia. Substantial progress was made through the efforts of OKU (1965, 1974), FALKOVITSH (1972-1979),FALKOVITSH & Re z n ik (1980), Re z n ik (1974-1977),B a ld iz z o n e & O ku (1988-1990),B a ld iz z o n e (1989),P a r k & B a ld iz z o n e (1992),A n ik in (1998,1999), Li & Z h u n g (2000). During the period from 13 July to 7 August of 1994 the junior author took part in the expedition to the Far East of Russia in the vicinity7 of Vladivostok (Primorski) Kraj). Almost all material was collected at light in the village of Anisimovka. The surroundings were the slopes of the South Sikhote Alin’, covered with secondary mostly deciduous forests, dry meadows and individual gardens. More than 720 specimens of Coleophoridae were obtained. About 130 specimens were also obtained in this region in 1989-1991 and loaned by A. NAPOLOV. While determining the material many unknown species were met, so the junior author turned to the senior author for help. About 60 species of Coleophoridae were recognized. Seven species - Coleophora teregnathella, C kononenkoi, C. okuella, C. raphidon, C. irinae, C. parki, C. napolovi - are described here as new for science. C. platyphyllae, previously synonymized with C. gelleriella HEINEMANN, 1854, was reinstated as a species. 42 species were identified with already known species, five of which (67.albidella (DENIS & SCHIFFER- MULLER, 1775), C. trochilella (DUPONCHEL, 1843), C. linosyridella FUCHS, 1880, C. striati- pennella T e n g STROM in NYLANDER [1848], C. unipunctella ZELLER, 1849) are new for the fauna of Asia. C. cristata BALDIZZONE, 1989, C. falkovitshellaYlVES, 1984, C. linosyridella F u c h s, 1880, C. adspersella BENANDER, 1939, and C. clypeiferella HOFMANN, 1871 are reported from Japan for the first time. Type material is kept in the collection of Latvian Museum of Natural History, some paratypes in the collection of Dr. G. BALDIZZONE, one paratype in the coll, of the DEI Eberswalde. The lepidopteran fauna of the former military training area near Oleško (Czech Republic: Ústecký Region) was studied in the year 2008. This area is on sandy ground, the predominant habitats are dry Scots pine forests growing on sand. 700 species were recorded, many of them are markedly psammophilous. Some characteristic spe- cies are very abundant there, namely on open habitats Aroga velocella (Zeller, 1839), Teleiopsis diffinis (Haworth, 1828), Platytes alpinellus (Hübner, 1813), Pyrausta ostrinalis (Hübner, 1796), Paradrina selini (Boisduval, 1840), Agrotis vestigialis (Hufnagel, 1766), Eilema pygmaeolum (Doubleday, 1847), some other species were only recorded individually (Aristotelia brizella (Treitschke, 1833), Helcystogramma lineolellum (Zeller, 1839), Pediasia fasce- linella (Hübner, 1813), Lythria cruentaria (Hufnagel, 1767) and Hadena irregularis (Hufnagel, 1766)). Abstract Additions, deletions and corrections are made to the Irish checklist of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera). Elachista biatomella (Stainton, 1848) is added to the Irish list. The total number of confirmed Irish species of Lepidoptera now stands at 1480. Key words: Lepidoptera, additions, deletions, corrections, Irish list, Elachista biatomella Introduction Bond, Nash and O’Connor (2006) provided a checklist of the Irish Lepidoptera. Since its publication, many new discoveries have been made and are reported here. In addition, several deletions have been made. A concise and updated checklist is provided. The following abbreviations are used in the text: BM(NH) – The Natural History Museum, London; NMINH – National Museum of Ireland, Natural History, Dublin. The total number of confirmed Irish species now stands at 1480, an addition of 68 since Bond et al. (2006). Taxonomic arrangement As a result of recent systematic research, it has been necessary to replace the arrangement familiar to British and Irish Lepidopterists by the Fauna Europaea [FE] system used by Karsholt 60 Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society No. 36 (2012) and Razowski, which is widely used in continental Europe.

  • Lepidoptera) Species for the Lithuanian Fauna
LIETUVOS ENTOMOLOGŲ DRAUGIJOS DARBAI. 2 (30) tomas 47 NEW DATA ON 63 RARE MOTH (LEPIDOPTERA) SPECIES FOR THE LITHUANIAN FAUNA BRIGITA PAULAVIČIŪTĖ, VYTAUTAS INOKAITIS Kaunas T. Ivanauskas Zoological Museum, Laisvės al. 106, LT-44253, Kaunas, Lithuania. E-mail: [email protected] Introduction The first data on Lithuanian Lepidoptera were published by Carl Eduard von Eichwald (1795–1876) who was a professor of Vilnius University. In his work, Zologia specialis, 1830, he mentioned some moth species, including five species of Microlepidoptera (Ivinskis, 2003). Through the 1970’ and 1980’ numerous articles dealing with Lithuanian Microlepidoptera were published by Povilas Ivinskis, Vladimir Ivanovich Piskunov, Mikhail Kozlov, Saulius Pakalniškis, Giedrius Švitra and Ričardas Kazlauskas (Aarvik at al., 2017). More important works have been published by Povilas Ivinskis (1993, 2004). The Lepidoptera in Lithuania are not fully investigated. The last catalogue of Lithuanian Lepidoptera includes 2423 species (Aarvik et al., 2017). This article present new data on 63 rare and very rare species of moths (Lepidoptera) registered in 14 administrative districts and municipalities of Lithuania. Material and Methods The material was collected in different parts of Lithuania: in Druskininkai municipalities, Akmenė, Ignalina, Jonava, Jurbarkas, Kaišiadorys, Kaunas, Panevėžys, Šakiai, Šiauliai, Širvintos, Švenčionys, Tauragė and Varėna administrative districts. Lepidoptera were collected using an entomological net and light trapping at night (160W–500W DRL type bulb lamps were used). The major part of material was collected by the authors of this report Brigita Paulavičiūtė (B.P.) and Vytautas Inokaitis (V.I.). The rest species were collected by Vitalijus Bačianskas (V.Ba.), Vaida Paznekaitė (V.P.) and Romas Ferenca (R.F.).
