Lepidoptera) Species for the Lithuanian Fauna LIETUVOS ENTOMOLOGŲ DRAUGIJOS DARBAI. 2 (30) tomas 47 NEW DATA ON 63 RARE MOTH (LEPIDOPTERA) SPECIES FOR THE LITHUANIAN FAUNA BRIGITA PAULAVIČIŪTĖ, VYTAUTAS INOKAITIS Kaunas T. Ivanauskas Zoological Museum, Laisvės al. 106, LT-44253, Kaunas, Lithuania. E-mail: [email protected] Introduction The first data on Lithuanian Lepidoptera were published by Carl Eduard von Eichwald (1795–1876) who was a professor of Vilnius University. In his work, Zologia specialis, 1830, he mentioned some moth species, including five species of Microlepidoptera (Ivinskis, 2003). Through the 1970’ and 1980’ numerous articles dealing with Lithuanian Microlepidoptera were published by Povilas Ivinskis, Vladimir Ivanovich Piskunov, Mikhail Kozlov, Saulius Pakalniškis, Giedrius Švitra and Ričardas Kazlauskas (Aarvik at al., 2017). More important works have been published by Povilas Ivinskis (1993, 2004). The Lepidoptera in Lithuania are not fully investigated. The last catalogue of Lithuanian Lepidoptera includes 2423 species (Aarvik et al., 2017). This article present new data on 63 rare and very rare species of moths (Lepidoptera) registered in 14 administrative districts and municipalities of Lithuania. Material and Methods The material was collected in different parts of Lithuania: in Druskininkai municipalities, Akmenė, Ignalina, Jonava, Jurbarkas, Kaišiadorys, Kaunas, Panevėžys, Šakiai, Šiauliai, Širvintos, Švenčionys, Tauragė and Varėna administrative districts. Lepidoptera were collected using an entomological net and light trapping at night (160W–500W DRL type bulb lamps were used). The major part of material was collected by the authors of this report Brigita Paulavičiūtė (B.P.) and Vytautas Inokaitis (V.I.). The rest species were collected by Vitalijus Bačianskas (V.Ba.), Vaida Paznekaitė (V.P.) and Romas Ferenca (R.F.). The material was identified by Brigita Paulavičiūtė. The geographical coordinates were measured using a Garmin eTrex GPS receiver. The material is deposited in the collection of the Kaunas T. Ivanauskas Zoological Museum. Species were identified using the following sources: Hannemann,1964; Traugott-Olsen & Nielsen, 1977; Zaguliaev et al., 1978; Danilevskij et al., 1981; Razowski, 1990; Emmet, 1996; Gielis, 1996; Huemer & Karsholt, 1999, 2010, 2013; Elsner et al., 1999; Razowski, 2001; Emmet & Langmaid, 2002; Sruoga & Ivinskis, 2005; Tokár et al., 2005; Slamka, 2006, 2008; Bengtsson & Johansson, 2008, 2011; Gaedike, 2015. Rarity categories have been established according to the checklist of Lepidoptera of Lithuania (Ivinskis, 2004). 48 BULLETIN OF THE LITHUANIAN ENTOMOLOGICAL SOCIETY. Acta Biologica 23/2016 | www.wnus.edu.pl/ab | DOI: 10.18276/ab.2016.23-02 | strony 15–34 The Maria Curie-Skłodowska University Botanical Garden in Lublin as a refuge of the moths (Lepidoptera: Heterocera) within the city Łukasz Dawidowicz,1 Halina Kucharczyk2 Department of Zoology, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Akademicka 19, 20-033 Lublin, Poland 1 e-mail: [email protected] 2 e-mail: [email protected] Keywords biodiversity, urban fauna, faunistics, city, species composition, rare species, conservation Abstract In 2012 and 2013, 418 species of moths at total were recorded in the Botanical Garden of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. The list comprises 116 species of Noctuidae (26.4% of the Polish fauna), 116 species of Geometridae (28.4% of the Polish fauna) and 63 species of other Macrolepidoptera representatives (27.9% of the Polish fauna). The remaining 123 species were represented by Microlepidoptera. Nearly 10% of the species were associated with wetland habitats, what constitutes a surprisingly large proportion in such an urbanised area. Comparing the obtained data with previous studies concerning Polish urban fauna of Lepidoptera, the moths assemblages in the Botanical Garden were the most similar to the one from the Natolin Forest Reserve which protects the legacy of Mazovian forests. Several recorded moths appertain to locally and rarely encountered species, as Stegania cararia, Melanthia procellata, Pasiphila chloerata, Eupithecia haworthiata, Horisme corticata, Xylomoia graminea, Polychrysia moneta. In the light of the conducted studies, the Botanical Garden in Lublin stands out as quite high biodiversity and can be regarded as a refuge for moths within the urban limits of Lublin.

Nat. Croat., Vol. 30, No. 1, 37–52, 2021, Zagreb. From 2016 to 2020 numerous surveys were undertaken to improve the knowledge of the pyraloid moth fauna of Biokovo Nature Park. On August 27th, 2020 one specimen of Psorosa mediterranella (Amsel, 1954) from the family Pyralidae was collected on a small meadow (985 m a.s.l.) on Mt Biok- ovo. In this paper, the first data about the occurrence of this species in Croatia are presented. The previ- ous mention in the literature for Croatia was considered to be a misidentification of the past and has thus not been included in the checklist of Croatian pyraloid moth species. P. mediterranella was recorded for the first time in Croatia in recent investigations and, after other additions to the checklist have been counted, is the 396th species in the Croatian pyraloid moth fauna. An overview of the overall pyraloid moth fauna of Croatia is given in the updated species list. Ges., download www.biologiezentrum.at NachrBl. bayer.

Abstract Additions, deletions and corrections are made to the Irish checklist of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera). Elachista biatomella (Stainton, 1848) is added to the Irish list. The total number of confirmed Irish species of Lepidoptera now stands at 1480. Key words: Lepidoptera, additions, deletions, corrections, Irish list, Elachista biatomella Introduction Bond, Nash and O’Connor (2006) provided a checklist of the Irish Lepidoptera. Since its publication, many new discoveries have been made and are reported here. In addition, several deletions have been made. A concise and updated checklist is provided. The following abbreviations are used in the text: BM(NH) – The Natural History Museum, London; NMINH – National Museum of Ireland, Natural History, Dublin. The total number of confirmed Irish species now stands at 1480, an addition of 68 since Bond et al. (2006). Taxonomic arrangement As a result of recent systematic research, it has been necessary to replace the arrangement familiar to British and Irish Lepidopterists by the Fauna Europaea [FE] system used by Karsholt 60 Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society No. 36 (2012) and Razowski, which is widely used in continental Europe.

Abstract Scrobipalpa reiprichi Povolny, 1984, recently described from Czechoslovakia, is newly recorded from a site in Norway with similar ecological characteristics to the type-locality. The moth is redescribed, and illustrations are given of the male and female genitalia and habitat.

Particularly remarkable species are pre sented and commented to supplementary. A checklist of all species is attached. New bionomie knowledge of some species is described, i.e. Xenolechia aethiops (H umphreys & W estwood , 1845). The zoo-geographic status of some individual species as bore- omontan is revised, i.e. Neofaculta infernella (H errich-Schàffer, 1854). A checklist of all other observed species is attached Einleitung Die Region Nordwest-Deutschland ist ein eiszeitlich geprägtes Tiefland mit höchsten Erhebungen von 169 m (Wilseder Berg in der Lüneburger Heide) und 168 m (Bungsberg in Ostholstein) über N.N., und umfasst die Bundesländer Schleswig- Holstein und das nördliche Niedersachsen inkl.
