Contributo Alla Conoscenza Della Famiglia Crambidae in Romagna (Insecta: Lepidoptera: Crambidae) Quaderno di Studi e Notizie di Storia Naturale della Romagna Quad. Studi Nat. Abstract [A contribution to knowledge of the Crambidae of Romagna (Insecta: Lepidoptera: Crambidae)] Faunistic data on 126 species of Crambidae (Insecta, Lepidoptera) living in Romagna region (Italy). Crambidae are a family of Microlepitoptera, subdivided into ten subfamilies: Acentropinae, Crambinae, Cybalomiinae, Evergestinae, Glaphyriinae, Odontiinae, Pyraustinae, Schoenobiinae, Scopariinae and Spilomelinae. The first list of the Crambidae of Romagna was published by Pietro Zangheri in 1969. The present paper updates Zangheri’s survey after half a century, by adding 31 species. Introduction and Concluding Remarks are both in Italian and in English. Key words: Lepidoptera, Crambidae, checklist, Romagna, Italy. Introduction Crambidae are a family of Microlepidoptera. In the checklist of the Italian Fauna (Minelli et al., 1995) this family includes 292 species in 86 genera. Recently two additional species became acclimatised in Romagna and have been added to the list: Cydalima perspectalis (Walker 1859) and Spoladea recurvalis (Fabricius, 1775). Cynaeda gigantea (Wocke, 1871), occurring in the Regional Park of the Gypsum Vein (Parco Regionale della Vena del Gesso Romagnola), is new to the Italian fauna. The present Faunal Survey of the Romagna Crambidae gives a list of the 126 species living in the region. The investigated territory, of some 6400 square 64 kilometers, is situated at the SE-corner of Northern Italy. Its peculiar naturalistic traits and its natural borders were highlighted in 1961 by Pietro Zangheri, who listed 82 species of Crambidae in his “Repertorio”, an annotated list of Romagna naturalistic heritage (Zangheri, 1969). His collections are stored at present in the Natural Sciences Museum of Verona (MSNVR). The subsequent entomological researches have been carried out by a few lepidopterists, who made collections either by traditional way, or by modern research methods as UV light. The results confirmed the occurrence of most taxa listed in Zangheri’s “Repertorio” and increased by 44 additional species the number of Romagna Crambidae, to the current value of 126 taxa, being the 44% of the Italian fauna. Nevertheless some taxa formerly occurring in Romagna plain in later 1900’s have not been found, and are supposed to be extinct, most likely because the area is extensively anthropized and heavily polluted. The systematic order here adopted follows as a rule the list by Karsholt & Razowski (1996), and the updated on-line versions Karsholt, O. & Nieukerken, E.J. van (2013) Lepidoptera. Moths. Fauna Europaea version 2.6, http://www. fauna-eu.org The number assigned to each species in the checklist by Karsholt & Razowski (1996) is shown beside each species in the list here below. The species of Pietro Zangheri’s collection in the Natural Sciences Museum of Verona (MSNVR), reported by Zangheri (1969), are listed following their current nomenclature, leaving in brackets the original names adopted by the author. The names of localities from Zangheri’s “Repertorio” are listed first, before the localities of subsequent records. Some species of Adelmo Usvelli’s collection, currently deposited in Museo Friulano di Scienze Naturali di Udine (MFSN) have been studied to confirm their identification. The correct identifications of the species with unclear habitus features have been checked by study of the genital apparatus, compared with the tables by Slamka (1995; 2006; 2008; 2013), Goater et al. (2005) and Leraut (2012; 2014). The wingspan in millimeters of each species is given in the photos of the colour tables. • The Maria Curie-Skłodowska University Botanical Garden in Lublin As a Refuge of the Moths (Lepidoptera: Heterocera) Within the City
Acta Biologica 23/2016 | www.wnus.edu.pl/ab | DOI: 10.18276/ab.2016.23-02 | strony 15–34 The Maria Curie-Skłodowska University Botanical Garden in Lublin as a refuge of the moths (Lepidoptera: Heterocera) within the city Łukasz Dawidowicz,1 Halina Kucharczyk2 Department of Zoology, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Akademicka 19, 20-033 Lublin, Poland 1 e-mail: [email protected] 2 e-mail: [email protected] Keywords biodiversity, urban fauna, faunistics, city, species composition, rare species, conservation Abstract In 2012 and 2013, 418 species of moths at total were recorded in the Botanical Garden of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. The list comprises 116 species of Noctuidae (26.4% of the Polish fauna), 116 species of Geometridae (28.4% of the Polish fauna) and 63 species of other Macrolepidoptera representatives (27.9% of the Polish fauna). The remaining 123 species were represented by Microlepidoptera. Nearly 10% of the species were associated with wetland habitats, what constitutes a surprisingly large proportion in such an urbanised area. Comparing the obtained data with previous studies concerning Polish urban fauna of Lepidoptera, the moths assemblages in the Botanical Garden were the most similar to the one from the Natolin Forest Reserve which protects the legacy of Mazovian forests. Several recorded moths appertain to locally and rarely encountered species, as Stegania cararia, Melanthia procellata, Pasiphila chloerata, Eupithecia haworthiata, Horisme corticata, Xylomoia graminea, Polychrysia moneta. In the light of the conducted studies, the Botanical Garden in Lublin stands out as quite high biodiversity and can be regarded as a refuge for moths within the urban limits of Lublin.

Nat. Croat., Vol. 30, No. 1, 37–52, 2021, Zagreb. From 2016 to 2020 numerous surveys were undertaken to improve the knowledge of the pyraloid moth fauna of Biokovo Nature Park. On August 27th, 2020 one specimen of Psorosa mediterranella (Amsel, 1954) from the family Pyralidae was collected on a small meadow (985 m a.s.l.) on Mt Biok- ovo. In this paper, the first data about the occurrence of this species in Croatia are presented. The previ- ous mention in the literature for Croatia was considered to be a misidentification of the past and has thus not been included in the checklist of Croatian pyraloid moth species. P. mediterranella was recorded for the first time in Croatia in recent investigations and, after other additions to the checklist have been counted, is the 396th species in the Croatian pyraloid moth fauna. An overview of the overall pyraloid moth fauna of Croatia is given in the updated species list. Anania coronata (Hufnagel), a Holarctic species of pyraustine crambid moth, has long been treated as having two geographically separated subspecies – the nominotypical Anania coronata in the Palaearctic Region and Anania coronata tertialis (Guenee)´ in the Nearctic Region. Maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference analysis of mitochondrial DNA barcodes both recover four well-supported, reciprocally monophyletic groups within Anania coronata. Qualitative and quantitative analyses of genital structures reveal diagnostic differences that correspond to the four barcode lineages. On the basis of both molecular and morphological evidence, we conclude that Anania coronata is actually a complex of four species.

G. M. Bond1 and J. P. O’Connor2 1Department of Zoology and Animal Ecology, School of BEES, University College Cork, Distillery Fields, North Mall, Cork, Ireland. e-mail: <[email protected]> 2Emeritus Entomologist, National Museum of Ireland, Kildare Street, Dublin 2, Ireland. Abstract Additions, deletions and corrections are made to the Irish checklist of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera). Elachista biatomella (Stainton, 1848) is added to the Irish list. The total number of confirmed Irish species of Lepidoptera now stands at 1480. Key words: Lepidoptera, additions, deletions, corrections, Irish list, Elachista biatomella Introduction Bond, Nash and O’Connor (2006) provided a checklist of the Irish Lepidoptera. Since its publication, many new discoveries have been made and are reported here. In addition, several deletions have been made. A concise and updated checklist is provided. The following abbreviations are used in the text: BM(NH) – The Natural History Museum, London; NMINH – National Museum of Ireland, Natural History, Dublin. The total number of confirmed Irish species now stands at 1480, an addition of 68 since Bond et al. (2006). Taxonomic arrangement As a result of recent systematic research, it has been necessary to replace the arrangement familiar to British and Irish Lepidopterists by the Fauna Europaea [FE] system used by Karsholt 60 Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society No. 36 (2012) and Razowski, which is widely used in continental Europe.
