INTRODUCTION* Gomolava, in Yugoslavia, is a dwelling mound on the left bank of the river Sava near Hrtkovci, a small village about 60 km north west from Belgrade (fig.1). The mound shows eight periods of habitation, the oldest belon ging to the Vinca culture that, with the aid of C14, may be fixed at c. 4000-3800 B.C. f (Clason, 1977). The most recent traces, inclu \ ding a burial-ground, date from the early \', 1--__-<7 0 ,.,> Middle Ages (table 1). f-----/ I > , After trial excavations during the fifties, it f--____-<7/' I"/"\.''''' \ -----\, was decided in 1970 to excavate the tell, as 1--_____/ C' 1 \ .... , '} ' \ systematically as possible, in its entirety. In the earliest periods of its habitation, the tell may possibly have been under supervision of Dr. A.T. Clason, carried situated at some distance from the Sava. -

Preliminary Report on a Field Campaign in the Continental Pleistocene of Tegelen (The Netherlands)

Meijer and A. J. van der Meulen Freudenthal, M., T. Meijer and A. J. van der Meulen. Preliminary report on a field campaign in the continental Pleistocene of Tegelen (The Netherlands). — Scripta Geol., 34: 1-27, 9 figs., 2 pls., Leiden, March 1976. By means of modernized sieving techniques 110 m3 of matrix from a gully fill- ing in the Tegelen Clay were sieved. This yielded a good collection of small mammals, which clarifies the stratigraphic position of the Tiglian, a collection of other vertebrates, a small collection of mollusks, and a vast amount of plant material. A good collection of mollusks was made through classical collecting techniques. The faunal lists in this paper constitute a considerable enlargement of the known Tegelen fauna. Collecting is continuing, and further additions to the fauna may be expected. M. Freudenthal, Rijksmuseum van Geologie en Mineralogie, Hooglandse Kerk- gracht 17, Leiden, The Netherlands; T. Of Strandzha Mountains and the Black Sea Coast
Historia naturalis bulgarica, 21: 13-48, 2015 Terrestrial gastropods (Mollusca, Gastropoda) of Strandzha Mountain and the Black Sea coast (Bulgaria and Turkey) Atanas Irikov, Ivelin Mollov Abstract: The current synopsis presents an overview of the terrestrial malacofauna of Strandzha Mountain in Bulgaria and Turkey, based on previously published and new data. As a result of the research we recorded 101 species and subspecies of ter- restrial molluscs belonging to 27 families. The data on the terrestrial malacofauna from the Turkish part of Strandzha is entirely new and presented here for the first time. The synopsis includes a list of synonymous species and subspecies concerning the area of research, all known localities, new localities reported for 50 taxa, systematic and environmental data. For the first time a zoogeographical and conservation analysis of the terrestrial snails is made. Key words: terrestrial gastropods, snails, slugs, Strandzha Mountain, Bulgaria, Turkey. Abstract A new updated checklist of terrestrial and freshwater mollusks (Gastropoda and Bivalvia) from Catalonia (Spain) is presented. This checklist includes the new taxa (species and subspecies), the new citations, and the taxonomic and nomenclatural changes that occurred during the last years, which are discussed in greater detail. A total of 337 taxa are computed: 287 gastropod species (316 when subspecies are counted) and 21 bivalve species. -

To date, lists have been compiled of the malacofauna of some regions (BRUSINA, 1866, 1870, 1907) which are in whole or in part within the political borders of today’s Croatia. The Croatian fauna was also included in the list of terrestrial and freshwater molluscs of the northern Balkans (JAECKEL et al., 1958), though this was spatially undefined as that publication divided present day Croatia into three regions, and unfortunately, only one of which (»Croatia«) is undoubtedly within the national borders today. -
