OF THE SOCIETY OF ANTIQUARIES OF SCOTLAND.

1. The purpose of the Society shall be the promotion of ARCHAEOLOGY, especiall s connecteya d wit e investigatiohth e ANTIQUITIEth f o n S AND HISTORY OF SCOTLAND. 2. The Society shall consist of Fellows, Honorary Fellows, Correspond- Membersg in Ladd an , y Associates. 3. Candidates for admission as Fellows must sign the Form of Applica- tion prescribe Councile th musy d db proposean e , b t Felloa y d b wan seconded by two members of the Council. Admission shall be by ballot. Secretariee 4Th . s shall caus namee Candidatee eth th f stheif o o d r san Proposers to be inserted in the billet calling the Meeting at which they are to be balloted for. The Ballot may be taken for all the Candidates name billee f threi th t onct n r dmorta i eo bu e; e black balls appeare ,th Chairman of the Meeting shall cause the Candidates to be balloted for singly. Any Candidate receiving less than two-thirds of the votes given shall not be admitted. 5. Honorary Fellows shall consist of persons eminent in Archaeology, who mus recommendee b t e Council,th same y balloted th b en an i r dfo Fellows a they d feean y wa sf ; liable admissio shalo an b s t r efo lno r no annual subscriptions. The number of Honorary Fellows shall not exceed twenty-five. x LAWS OF THE SOCIETY.

6. Corresponding Members must be recommended by the Council and balloted for in the same way as Fellows, and they shall not be liable for any fees of admission or annual subscriptions. 7. They shall be proposed by the Council and balloted for in the same way as Fellows, and shall not be liable for any fee f admissioo s r annuano l subscriptions. 8. The subscription of One Guinea shall become due on the 30th Nov- ember in each year for the year then commencing; and if any Fellow who t compoundeno s ha dsubscriptioe shalth y lpa fai o t threr l nfo e successive years, due application having been made for payment, the Treasurer shall report the same to the Council, by whose authority the name of the defaulter may be erased from the list of Fellows. 10. Five Member Councithe of s l shall be a quorum. 13. The Office-Bearers of the Society shall consist of a President, three Vice-Presidents, two Secretaries for general purposes, two Secretaries for Foreign Correspondence Treasurera , o Curator e tw Museum, th f o s a , Curator of Coins, and a Librarian. The President shall be elected for a period of five years, and the Vice-Presidents for a period of three years. i x E SOCIETYLAWTH F O S . 16. Three of the nine elected Members of Council shall retire annually by rotation, and shall not again be eligible till after the lapse of one year. Vacancies among the elected Members of Council and Office- Bearers occurring by completion of term of office, by retirement on rota- tion resignationy b , deaty b , r otherwiseho , shal fillee b lelectioy b d t na the Annual General Meeting. The election shall be by Ballot, upon a list issued by the Council for that purpose to the Fellows at least fourteen days before the Meeting. 17. The Council may appoint committees or individuals to take charge of particular departments of the Society's business.
