Leger's Son (The Leger Hotel Mysteries Book 2) By Janie Dills This story opens with a surprise visit by August, Leger's son. Leger is very happy to see August & really hopes that this visit will help to mend the fragile relationship that existed between them. Leger is also surprised & delighted to learn that, like himself, August loves to sculpt. Leger's happiness quickly turns to concern though as he also learns that August has accompanied Verity, the sister of the young man who viciously attacked Hugh, his human Annabelle's husband. Hugh was hospitalized for a time & still had apprehensions as a result. August lived with Verity & her family & he was especially fond of Verity. He was quite defensive of her so Leger knew that he would be walking a fine line as to any concerns he, himself, had toward her. Verity had applied to work for Hugh & Annabelle as she was a painter & decorator & they agreed that she would be a big help in preparing for the opening of their new hotel. Shortly after her arrival to the small island & obtaining the job as painter/decorator, Verity announces to her co- workers that she was robbed of all her money while on her lunch break. Well, we know that Leger has some sleuthing to do but he has to be very discreet so as to not interrupt the shaky relationship between he & his son. There are some interesting turns of events as the story unravels. And by the conclusion, we have a clue as to where Leger's next adventure might lead. If your curiosity has been piqued, you will need to discover the details for yourself! As for me, I can hardly wait for the next book! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Leger the furry Scottish Sleuth By Amazon Customer I have read all the books in the Leger series to date. I have found them to be charming. The characters are written to provide some backstory and they interact in a believable way. The setting in Scotland is interesting. I have thoroughly enjoyed each installment in this series. (BTW - did you know if you Google "Leger" you will find Fernand Leger, a French painter, Sculptor and film maker, active in the Cubist and Modernist movements? Now he and Ginger must search for clues, as well as Amber, in order to unmask the person who pushed Annabella.     Modern Alternative Popes* Magnus Lundberg Uppsala University The Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) is arguably the most important event in modern Catholicism, and a major act on the twentieth-century religious scene at large. On several points, the conciliar fathers made changes in how the Catholic Church perceived the modern world. The language in the decrees was different from earlier councils’, and the bishops opened up for ecumenism and interreligious dialogue, seeing at least “seeds of truth” in other religious traditions. The conciliar fathers also voted in favour of liberty of religion, as meaning something more than the right to practise Catholic faith. A very concrete effect of the Council was the introduction of the New Mass Order (Novus Ordo Missae) in 1969 that replaced the traditional Roman rite, decreed by Pius V in 1570. Apart from changes in content, under normal circumstances, the new mass should be read in the vernacular, not in Latin as before. Though many Catholics welcomed the reforms of Vatican II, many did not. In the period just after the end of the Council, large numbers of priests and nuns were laicized, few new priest candidates entered the seminaries, and many laypeople did not recognize the church and the liturgy, which they had grown up with. In the post- conciliar era, there developed several traditionalist groups that criticized the reforms and in particular the introduction of the Novus Ordo. Their criticism could be more or less radical, and more or less activist. Many stayed in their parishes and attended mass there, but remained faithful to traditional forms of devotions and paid much attention to modern Marian apparitions.

Těm chtěl Pán Ježíš vysvětliti, jak liše a mylně smýšlejí o sobě, a jak rozdílný bývá úsudek Boží od úsudku lidí. Při tom pak chtěl Pán poučiti nás, kterak s modlitbou stálou, o níž mluvilv podobenství předchozím, máme spojovati také pokoru, poněvadž „modlitba kořícího se oblaky proniká, dokudž nepřiblíží se (až k Bohu); nepotěší se, aniž odstoupí, dokudž nepopatří Nejvyšší.“ Sirach 35, 21. Uvažme podobenství dnešní. „Dva muži vstoupili do chrámu, aby se modlili;jeden fariseus a druhý publikán.“ Luk. 18, -10. Ješto Jerusalém ležel na výšině, a chrám rozprostíral se na hoře Morii, proto pravil Pán Ježíš: „Dvamužové vstou­ pili do chrámu.“—Proč vstoupilido chrámu? Inu, pročse chodí do chrámu?
