Ad• visor for the new club is Mr. William E. Davis, AIA, registered architect and instructor at the regional campus. The pui-poses of the new organization offi• Architectural Club cially recognized recently are: 1. To study architectural design, structural Formed at Purdue mechanics, and landscaping. 2. To provide information concerning the Extension Architectural Engineering Technology cur• riculum to members of the AIA. 3. To provide counseling for students inter• ested in the Architectural program. 4. To promote plans for a School of Archi• tecture in the state of Indiana. 5. To provide extra curricular activities. Membership is open to students interested in architecture at the regional campus. Officers in• clude Wayne Schmidt, President; John Boice, Vice President; and David Yager, Secretary-Treasurer. The new club is concerned about the lack of knowledge about the practice of architecture on the part of high school students and expect to initiate a program of personal contact to inform high school seniors. One project in the near future will be the presentation of an award for the most complete set of house plans done in class. Judging of the project would be done by area architects and contractors. Future plans also include informal talks or seminars by members of the building trades, 25 prominent architects and contractors. Field trips, I A movies and other visual aids will be used to de• velop professional interest and appreciation for architectural achievement. The name of the club, "Essayons," sums up

Bring out the best in your wall desigtlS. Specify mortar made with masonry cement. Pre• cision-made, masonry cement encourages good workmanship. It takes the guesswork out of making mortar as specified, makes tighter joints with uniform color and good bond strength. SimpHfies and speeds work because everything except sand and water is dcHvered in one bag . . . and no special skills are needed for mi.xing. Masonry cement has excellent workability and high water retentivity thus assuring good wall per• formance. More and, more architects are specifying mortar made with masonry cement for use with the newer forms of concrete masonry, as well as brick, tile, stone and glass.
