In 2001-2002, licenses were issued to extend the service lives of Novovoronezh NPP Units 3 and 4, and in 2003 a similar license was issued to Unit 1 at Kola NPP. As of January 2004, work was under way to upgrade the equipment at Leningrad NPP Unit 1 and Kola NPP Unit 2.
