Audience Etiquette Thank you for attending our performance! All of the students have worked extremely hard and we are very excited to perform for you! So that all may enjoy tonight’s performances, the following etiquette rules are expected of the audience:

 Please turn off cell phones, watches, pagers and electronic devices.

 Respectful etiquette requires that you wait for a break between scenes to be seated or to leave.

 Please do not move about the auditorium while there is action on stage.

 Conversations during a performance are considered rude and distracting. Please hold conversations and comments until intermission or a break for .

 It is appropriate to applaud at the conclusion of a song or dance number. Don’t be afraid!

 Please celebrate the accomplishments of our students with applause. Hooting, whistling, and hollering are considered disrespectful to the performers.

About the Cast Gurpratap Singh (Albert Peterson) - Senior: Gurpratap Singh is thrilled to be playing the role of Albert J. Peterson in tonight’s performance of Bye Bye Birdie. A senior at Lewiston-Porter High School and President of the Senior Choir, he has performed in the All- County, Area All-State, and Jazz Choirs. He placed first in LP’s 2009 Vaudeville Talent Show with this “Back to Basics” routine. Bye Bye Birdie is Gurp’s first performance in a school musical. He would wholeheartedly like to extend his gratitude to Mr. Burritt and Ms. Johnson for the opportunity to perform, and also Mr. Duncan, Mr. Russell, his family, and the entire cast for their sincere dedication and ongoing efforts to tonight's production. Gurp also commends and thanks his fellow performer Kate Mieth for making his experience as painless and enjoyable as possible. Finally, he would like to praise his best friend and brother Adam Siedlecki for making countless trips to their local Burger King with him. Gurp plans to go on to open his own dentistry practice one day.

Kate Mieth (Rose Alvarez) - Sophomore: Kate is extremely excited to be playing the part of Rosie in today’s performance. She is a sophomore here at Lew-Port and has been an active member of the Drama Club since she came to L-P as a freshman. Her performances here include Macbeth (captain), Leaving Iowa (mechanic), and Cinderella (evil stepsister Joy). Other credits include Sharpay in High School Musical, in Annie, Jr., and other community theater productions such as An Enemy of the People and Spoon River Anthology. Kate would like to thank her directors and the entire cast for making Birdie one of the most fun musicals she’s ever been in - especially Gurp for being her best Albert ever - and her entire family for always supporting her.

Madi Yanofsky (Kim MacAfee) - Junior: Madi Yanofsky is in her junior year at Lew-Port. As a new student from Burlington, VT, Kim MacAfee from Bye Bye Birdie is Madi’s debut role on the LewPort stage. Madi has been performing in musicals since she was in elementary school. Peggy from and Mary Poppins of Mary Poppins are just two of the many roles Madi has played throughout her years of nonstop dancing, singing, and acting. Madi is also an active member of the Lancer Council and plans to join the Lew-Port Track team in the spring. Madi plans on majoring in either theater or English in college and hopes to attend a university out west. Madi would like to

send a huge thanks out to Ms. Johnson, Mr. Burritt, Mr. Duncan, Mr. Russell and her many cast mates who have made this amazing experience possible.

Tyler Midgley (Mr. MacAfee) - Sophomore: Tyler has been performing onstage since third grade, whether it be with his band, Auburn Sky, talent shows, plays, or musicals. He is thrilled to be a part of this performance. The music/drama department seems to beckon to him and he plans to continue performing onstage. Tyler would like to thank his friends, family, and supporters.

Kathryn Livingston (Mrs. MacAfee) - Senior: Kathryn Livingston is performing the role of Mrs. MacAfee in tonight’s performance. A student in 12th grade here at the high school, she is active in CIA, Dance, Singing Lessons, and tennis. Besides Bye Bye Birdie, she has also performed in a summer program called Camp Broadway. Katie would like to thank her family, her mom and dad for being so devoted to all of her activities. Her future plans include going to NCCC and Liberty University for childhood education and voice.

Jacey Diez (Alice MacAfee) - Sophomore: Jacey is an aspiring actress in her second year at Lewiston-Porter. She has been involved with the theatrical arts throughout junior and senior high. Jacey has starred in School House Rock, The Pied Piper, Touchtone "M" for Murder, Annie Jr, Ax of Murder, MacBeth, Cinderella, and the drama club's most recent production of Leaving Iowa. An active member of Senior Choir and Vocal Jazz, she is also involved in numerous extra- curriculars such as Christians in Action, Traditions, Music in Action, and

Key Club. She would like to thank both her family and friends for all the faith they've had in her and her musical endeavors. Their support contributes to her ever-growing love for the performing arts.

Derek Tucker (Conrad Birdie) - Junior: Derek, a junior at Lewiston Porter High School, will be playing Conrad Birdie. He has also taken on other roles in Leaving Iowa, Cinderella, Macbeth, Arsenic and Old Lace, Touchtone ’M’ for Murder, and Romeo and Winifred. He is the president of Drama Club, the historian of the Junior Class, and the treasurer of Senior Choir. He also takes part in Masterminds, Key Club, Ski Club, and has recently been inducted into the National Honor Society. Derek would like to thank Mr. Burritt, Ms. Johnson, Mr. Duncan, and Mr. Russell for the pleasure of being able to take part in this great show. He would also like to thank his family and friends for their support.

Kaitlyn Sorenson (Mrs. Mae Peterson) - Sophomore: Kaitlyn is performing the role of Mrs. Mae Peterson in tonight’s performance. A student in 10th grade here at the high school, she is active in Key Club, Lancer Council, DECA, Senior Choir, French Club, LP Soccer, Niagara Pioneer Soccer, and Track and Field. Kaitlyn is also a member of the church choir and youth group at Grace Lutheran. She has performed in the LP productions of Annie and Cinderella. Kaitlyn would like to thank Mr. Burritt, Ms. Johnson, Mr. Duncan, and Mr. Russell for coordinating this great show, and her friends, parents, family, and church members for all their support and encouragement.

Dante Iozzo (Hugo Peabody) - Sophomore: Dante is playing the role of Hugo Peabody in this performance. He is very excited to be a part of this production. This is Dante’s first production, but he has performed publically numerous times with his band, Auburn Sky. He is enjoying the experience and will continue performing onstage. Dante would like to thank his friends and family for all of their support.

Marina Laurendi (Merkle Twin) - Sophomore: Marina is excited to be performing in this year's production of Bye Bye Birdie. You may remember her from her previous roles at LPHS where she played Jessie in Leaving Iowa and Cinderella in Cinderella. Marina has been very busy over the past few months. She recently performed in (Road, Monkey, Tornado, Dancer, Ensemble) in Buffalo, NY and with the Southern-Tier Symphony Orchestra in Pennsylvania. Some of Marina's most recent and memorable experiences have been her roles in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (adoring girl, wife, prisoner), Suessical the Musical (JoJo) at Lancaster Opera House, Gypsy (Baby June) at Niagara University, High School Musical (Susan) and numerous other performances. Marina would like to thank her family for all their love and support, and Ms. Schilk for always believing in her.

Courtney Corbetta (Merkle Twin) - Junior: Courtney is in her junior year at Lew-Port. She has been involved in the Drama Club since 6th grade and is now the vice president and treasurer of the club. Other high school productions she has been involved with are Jesus 11

Christ Superstar, MacBeth, and Leaving Iowa. Courtney has also participated in “The Color Purple” workshop through Shea’s Theatre in Buffalo. She has taken dance for six years and plans to use these skills along with acting to someday be a part of a Broadway show. Courtney would like to thank everyone involved in Bye Bye Birdie for letting her be a part of this wonderful musical. She would also like to thank her family and friends in supporting her as she follows her dream.

Tim Rogers (Mayor Merkle) - Senior: Tim is performing the role of Mayor Merkle. A student in 12th grade, he is active in technology. Tim would like to thank his parents for helping him throughout high school, and his friends for pushing him to do this show. Thank you for all your support and encouragement! Tim’s future plans include attending RIT for computer engineering and technologies.

Renée Wall (Mrs. Merkle) - Junior: Renée is playing the parts of Mrs. Edna Merkle and Helen in tonight’s performance. A junior here at the high school, she is active in Varsity Soccer, Senior Choir, Jazz Choir, Key Club, National Honor Society, and is Vice President of Lancer Council. She plans to play varsity lacrosse this spring. Her most recent musical was in fifth grade, but she feels she is always in a musical because her whole family constantly breaks into song. Renée would like to thank her mom for going costume hunting with her, and not minding picking her up from rehearsal every day.

David Sajdak, Jr. (Harvey Johnson/Guitar Man) - Sophomore: David is performing the roles of Harvey Johnson and Conrad’s Guitar Man in tonight’s performance. A student in 10th grade here at the high school, he is active in Senior Choir, Cross County, and he will

participate in Track and Field for the first time this year. Besides Bye Bye Birdie, David has also performed in The Three Little Pigs and School House Rock. David would like to thank Mr. Burritt, Ms. Johnson, and his mom for all their support and encouragement.

Lauren DiFonzo (Gloria Rasputin/Dance Captain) - Sophomore: Lauren DiFonzo is performing the role of Gloria Rasputin. She is also the dance captain for the ensemble. A student in tenth grade here at the high school, she is the captain of the LewPort Dance Team and an assistant teacher at Lewiston Dance Center. Besides Bye Bye Birdie, Lauren has been performing on stage in dance recitals for 13 years. She would like to thank her friends and family, and Stephanie for being the best coach ever!

Stephanie Polka (Choreographer): This LewPort graduate of 2008 has been dancing since the age of three. Stephanie is a jazz, tap, hip- hop, and musical theater instructor at Lewiston Dance Center and Grand Island Dance Center. She is the coach of the grand champion winning Lewiston-Porter Dance Team. Stephanie is also the owner/ operator of Miss Stephanie's Dance Supplies in Lewiston. This is the first production Stephanie has choreographed, and she is thrilled to be back in the LPHS auditorium. Stephanie would like to thank Ms. Johnson, Mr. Burritt, Mr. Duncan, and Mr. Russell for this wonderful opportunity. She would also like to thank LPDT for their hard work, every dance teacher she’s had, her parents, the Robertson family, Greg for always pushing her to succeed, the leads, especially Kate, Gurp, and Derek for working extra hard on their dances, and the entire cast. As said, “Do it big, do it right, and do it with style!” 13
