Im Editorial der seit Ende März 2013 erscheinen- den Web-Zeitschrift „Th e Baltic Scene“ heißt es programmatisch, man wolle nicht nur Brücken zwischen Estland, Lettland und Litauen bauen, sondern vor allem auch zu einem internationalen Publikum.1 Fußnoten wird es in dieser online-Zeitschrift zwar kaum geben, doch ist uns dieses Ziel höchst sympathisch. Da es unter www.thebalticscene.eu vor allem um Popmusik aus den drei Ländern geht, fi nden sich zahlreiche Videos, Fea- tures und Reviews im Netz. Auch wenn der Gegenstand somit ein ande- rer ist, können wir diesem Projekt nur alles Gute wünschen. Estland erlebt in diesen Monaten aber nicht nur die Geburt einer neu- en Musikzeitschrift, sondern auch die einer neuen Glaubensrichtung, die sogar den Namen eines unserer geschätzten Redaktionsmitglieder trägt – die selartlased, zu Deutsch: die Selartianer. Entstanden ist dieser Begriff im Rahmen einer öff entlichen Debatte, in der es vor allem um die Frage geht, wie weit das historische Bewusstsein einer Gesellschaft und der aktuelle Standard der historischen Forschung auseinanderklaff en. Der Begriff der selartlased, kreiert von einem unserer früheren Autoren, Andrei Hvostov,2 wird in diesem Kontext zu einem wissenschaftlichen Ehrentitel, bezeichnet er doch das Autorenkollektiv des kürzlich unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. Anti Selar t erschienenen 2. Bandes der Reihe Eesti ajalugu über das Mittelalter.3 Vereinfacht gesagt, geht es um die seit der Zwischenkriegszeit lieb gewon- nene Interpretation des estnischen Widerstands gegen Mission und Kolo- nialisierung als sagenhaften alten „Freiheitskampf“ (muistne vabadusvõitlus) und die Interpretation der wenigen schriftlichen Quellen aus dieser Zeit.4 Vor allem in den Internetforen wurde leidenschaftlich darüber spekuliert, ob die Autoren für ihre vermeintliche Aufgabe nationaler Positionen – kein Freiheitskampf, kein Patriotismus im Aufstand in der Georgsnacht, dafür 1 Th e Baltic Scene – premier of the web magazine covering the Baltic music, ein- sehbar unter dem URL: http://www.thebalticscene.eu/the-baltic-scene-a-global- premier-of-webmagazine-covering-the-baltic-music/ (letzter Zugriff 6.4.2013). En del av släkten var dock möjligen lokal lantadel; om det råder delade meningar i forskningen. I Frankrike hette släkten d´Escouperie och den förste kände stamfadern var Robert d´Escouperie (levde omkr. 1387), som uppges ha ägt gårdarna Château Russol och La Gardie i departementet Aude. Släktens svenska gren härstammar från köpmannen Jacques Scoperier (†1565) i staden Caunes nära Carcassonne i södra Frankrike. Hans son Ponce d´Escouperie invandrade till Sverige 1565 och antog namnet Pontus De la Gardie efter en av släktens gårdar i Languedoc. I sitt äktenskap med en illegitim dotter till Johan III blev han far till riksmarsken Jakob de la Gardie som "upphöjdes i grefligt stånd" 10 maj 1615 och introducerades 1625 på Sveriges Riddarhus med nr 3 bland grevar. Denna gren finns fortfarande. I Sverige fanns en gren som 1571 fick friherrelig värdighet men som utslocknade 1640. Samtliga ättemedlemmar, bortsett från stamfadern Pontus, härstammar via hans fru Sofia Johansdotter från hennes far, Johan III. Nuvarande (2007) huvudman för ätten De la Gardie är greve Carl Gustaf De la Gardie, f.1946 och bosatt i Linköping.
