The meeting opened on Monday, 16 February 2004, at 15.05, with Gilles Savary, vice- chairman, in the chair.
1. Adoption of draft agenda PE 331.411
The draft agenda was adopted with the following changes:
- On request by Ms Hedkvist Petersen, the consideration of her report on frontal protection on motor vehicles was postponed to the March committee meeting.
- Mr Stockmann's report on slots had to be taken off the agenda, as the Common Position had not arrived in time.

Decision: It was decided by 9 votes to 7 to vote on Mr Bradbourn's report on guidelines for the development of TENs on 17 February.

17. Chairman's announcement
At its meeting of 12 June 2003 the RETT committee considered the draft opinion of Mr Rijk van Dam on "The initiative of the Kingdom of Spain with a view to adopting a Council Directive in the obligation of carriers to communicate passenger data" (T08269 - CNS 030809 - 7161/03 - C5-0164/03). In June 2003 RETT committe decided not to set a deadline for amendments because Spain had announced its intention to present a revised proposal. As the leading committe (LIBE) recently
